Michael Leighton is dealing with a lower-body injury.
Leighton is regarded as being week-to-week. The Penguins acquired him from Arizona on Dec. 19 and then sent him to the minors. The fact that he's injured is particularly noteworthy at the moment because Penguins backup goaltender Tristan Jarry was hurt on Tuesday. If Pittsburgh needs to call up a goaltender, then Leighton won't be an option. Casey DeSmith, who has been summoned by Pittsburgh before due to goaltending injuries, will likely be called up again if needed. Jan 4 - 11:00 AM

Michael Leighton has been sent to the minors.

That's not too surprising given that it's the All-Star break, but this might be more than a short-term demotion. Eddie Lack, who has been out with a concussion, has also headed to the AHL on a conditioning stint. If Lack is ready to return following the All-Star break, then Leighton will likely remain in the AHL.

Michael Leighton has been recalled by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Leighton spent a few days in the minors. He's been serving primarily as the Hurricanes' backup goaltender, but that role hasn't led to him getting much ice time so the occasional brief stint in the AHL to play is to be expected.
