Don't be surprised if Michael Leighton gets a start next week.

Scott Darling has started all of the Blackhawks' games since Corey Crawford sustained an upper-body injury two weeks ago and he may need a rest during Chicago's road trip. That would give Leighton a chance to start. We will advise if and when that happens.

Michael Leighton made a relief appearance in Tuesday's game against the Stars.

Leighton came into the game at the start of the second period after Scott Darling allowed four goals in the opening 20 minutes. Leighton turned aside 16 of 17 shots in the 6-2 loss to Dallas. He didn't factor into the decision.

Michael Leighton has been called up by the Chicago Blackhawks.

Chicago needed an extra goaltender because Corey Crawford is dealing with an upper-body injury and won't travel with the team to Winnipeg. Leighton has a 2.44 GAA and .918 save percentage in 46 AHL games this season.

Michael Leighton has been re-signed by Chicago on a one-year contract.

He is expected to be the top goalie for Rockford of the AHL next season and the third-string netminder for the Blackhawks. Leighton posted a mark of 22-13-4, including five shutouts, with a .920 save percentage and a 2.26 goals-against average with the IceHogs in 2014-15.

The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned goaltender Michael Leighton to Rockford of the AHL.

Leighton has only played in two NHL games since 2010-11. The 33-year-old wild be considered for a call-up if one of Chicago's goaltenders goes down to injury.

Michael Leighton has agreed to a one-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.

He was originally drafted by the Hawks in the sixth round (165th overall) of the 1999 draft and he was in goal for Philadelphia when Patrick Kane scored in overtime to win the 2010 Stanley Cup. Antti Raanta is still expected to back up Corey Crawford this season, so Leighton will serve as a depth option in the minors.

Michael Leighton has agreed to a one-year deal with Donbass Donetsk of the KHL.

Columbus acquired him, along with a third-round pick, from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for goaltender Steve Mason in April. There wasn't any room for him on the Blue Jackets with Sergei Bobrovsky and Curtis McElhinney on the roster, but Donbass created a spot for him by releasing Chris Holt.

Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards isn't worried about Michael Leighton getting rusty.

Leighton has played in just one NHL game this season and it sounds like the only way he'll play is if Sergei Bobrovsky suffers an injury. "He’s played in some big games in his career and proved that he can be a good goaltender at this level," Richards said. "… If something happens and he has to go in, he’s keeping himself ready."

Philadelphia has traded Michael Leighton to Columbus along with a third-round draft pick for Steve Mason.

Leighton will likely serve as Sergei Bobrovsky's backup for the Jackets for the rest of the season.

Michael Leighton has been recalled by the Flyers.

It's a bit of an odd move for the Flyers, who have more pressing needs than their back-up goalie, as Brian Boucher will be sent back to the AHL. Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News wonders if coach Peter Laviolette would be bold enough to start Leighton against the Sabres on Sunday. A loss could put them in 14th place in the East. The 31-year-old was coming off an injury to his finger and has a 1-1-0 record with a 2.02 goals-against average and .933 save percentage on the AHL season. In his only start in the NHL this year, he gave up five goals on 26 shots.

Philadelphia has sent Leighton to the minors. He allowed five goals on 26 shots in a 5-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Jan. 27 and hasn't played since.

Michael Leighton has been placed on waivers by Philadelphia.

He had been sidelined with a finger injury and his appearance on waivers suggests he is healthy now and that the Flyers want to stick with Brian Boucher as their backup goalie.

Michael Leighton's upper body injury is related to a finger on his stick hand.

Leighton has already been placed on waivers. The timetable for his return remains seven-to-10 days.

The Philadelphia Flyers placed netminder Michael Leighton on the injured reserve on Sunday.

The journeyman netminder is expected to miss 7-10 days with an upper-body injury. It isn't a major loss for a Philadelphia team that leans heavily on Ilya Bryzgalov; they'll turn to experienced backup Brian Boucher in Leighton's absence.
