Mikko Koivu picked up three assists in Friday's 5-4 win over Chicago.

Koivu collected assists on first period goals from Jason Zucker and Charlie Coyle. He also helped set up Nino Niederreiter's game-winning goal in the third period of the contest. The 32-year-old is currently on an impressive eight-game point streak. Koivu has three goals and 11 points in 10 games for the Wild.
Oct 30 - 11:09 PM

Mikko Koivu scored for the second game in the row, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kings as the Wild lost 2-1 in overtime on Friday.

Koivu saw the most ice time among forwards, with 21:21 spent on the ice and nearly half of it on special teams. So the Captain did all he could to get his team the W. Through four games Koivu has two goals and three points.
Oct 17 - 1:42 AM

Mikko Koivu netted a short-handed goal as the Wild beat the Coyotes 4-3 on Thursday.

Koivu did what a good center does, he followed up a short-handed rush and took a Jason Zucker pass for the Wild's third tally of the game. He also skated 20:56 of ice time including nearly eight minutes on special teams. It was his first goal of the season.
Oct 16 - 1:19 AM

Mikko Koivu missed Friday's practice, but he'll be available for Saturday's contest.

Koivu had an assist in Minnesota's 5-4 victory on Thursday. Unless there's a further development, we'll shrug his absence off as some extra rest for the veteran forward.
Oct 9 - 3:47 PM

Mikko Koivu has enjoyed a successful training camp.

"In my time here, this is as good a camp that I've seen him have," coach Mike Yeo said. Koivu picked up one goal, one assist and won 13 of 18 faceoffs in Sunday's 8-1 exhibition win against Winnipeg. Nino Niederreiter, who had three points in the contest, was in on both of Koivu's points.
Sep 28 - 12:39 PM

Mikko Koivu had just one goal and four points in 10 playoff games in 2015.

Minnesota's playoff run ended on Thursday as Chicago completed its second round sweep. Koivu had a somewhat rough season overall as he was limited to 14 goals and 48 points in 80 contests. What makes it more frustrating is that injuries didn't cost him much playing time in 2014-15, which often hasn't been the case for him in recent years. Minnesota will have to hope that it gets more out of its captain in 2015-16.
May 8 - 10:41 AM

The Wild need more from Mikko Koivu in the playoffs.

Koivu has a goal, four points, and a minus-three rating in eight postseason contests. He was held off the scoresheet in the Wild's 4-1 loss to Chicago on Sunday. With Minnesota now down 2-0 in the series, the team captain feels Minnesota needs to play better defensively and if it does that will lead to offensive production as well.
May 5 - 10:35 AM

Mikko Koivu scored his first goal of the playoffs off a lucky deflection on Friday night, helping to achieve Minnesota's 4-1 Game Five victory over St. Louis.

As Koivu and teammate Zach Parise cycled in the left offensive corner, winger Chris Stewart made himself available on the far-side. Koivu then walked out from the corner and tried to feed Stewart, but instead caught Jay Bouwmeester's skate and the back of the net. The goal came on the power play, and gave the Wild a 3-1 lead just 1:26 after Nino Niederreiter had achieved the lead.
Apr 25 - 1:16 AM

The Minnesota Wild are only fighting for seeding, so it makes sense to rest many players against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

Mikko Koivu, Ryan Suter, Jared Spurgeon, Ryan Carter, Jordan Schroeder and Justin Fontaine are sitting this one out.
Apr 11 - 2:58 PM

Mikko Koivu earned an assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over Nashville.

The point gave him 500 for his career. Koivu has 14 goals and 48 points in 80 games this campaign. He has been better in the second half and should be able to bounce back next season.
Apr 10 - 11:12 AM

Mikko Koivu (eye) says he'll be back in the lineup on Monday versus Winnipeg.

He sat out Saturday's match against Detroit because of an eye injury. Koivu has been great down the stretch with 21 points in his past 29 games.
Apr 6 - 12:48 PM

Mikko Koivu (eye) should be able to return to the lineup for Monday's game against Winnipeg.

Koivu suffered a scratched cornea in what appears to be an off-ice injury. He was made a late scratch before Saturday's game against Detroit but luckily for the Wild, the injury doesn't appear to be serious. Erik Haula filled-in for Koivu on a line with Chris Stewart and Nino Niederreiter but the line struggled to find their game.
Apr 5 - 8:48 AM

Mikko Koivu was made a late scratch due to an eye injury against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. Ryan Carter will take the ice in his place.

This is quite unfortunate as the Captain Koivu has been red hot lately. Scoring in six of his previous 10 games, accumulating three goals and eight points over that span. He has 14 goals and 47 points in 77 games while winning 55% of over 1,600 faceoffs this season. Koivu is listed as day-to-day.
