Mike Komisarek has reportedly waived his no-movement clause and has been placed on waivers by the Maple Leafs.

If he isn't claimed by another team then he will report to the Toronto Marlies in the AHL. Komisarek has spent most the 2013 season as a healthy scratch and he's suited up in only four games. He still has one more year left on his current contract after this year at an average annual value of $4.5 million.

Mike Komisarek quickly denied a report over the weekend that he wants to be traded.

"I'm curious to see where you guys get your stuff," Komisarek said Sunday. "We will see how it unfolds. Right now I am just taking it day by day. I'm sure you guys will be the first ones to know. It must be a slow news day." The Toronto defenseman wants to play though, so he wouldn't stand in the way of a deal if it came to that. Komisarek has been a healthy scratch since Feb. 2 and he's not expected to play Monday against New Jersey either.

Mike Komisarek has provided the Toronto Maple Leafs with a list of 12 teams he'd accept a trade to.

Komisarek played in just 45 games last season and only four in 2013. Toronto would probably love to trade him and his $4.5 million annual cap hit, but his stock has likely fallen to the point where that might not be possible unless the Leafs are willing to keep a portion of his cap hit or accept a bad contract in return. Instead, they might simply use an amnesty buyout on him this summer.

Mike Komisarek (eye) skated with his teammates on Wednesday.

He didn't play on Tuesday after bits of his stick got into his eye Monday. "Shooting some pucks after practice, missed the net a few times and took it out on my stick," Komisarek said when explaining the strange injury. "Next thing you know, stick breaks and a bunch of graphite goes in my eye and my face. Had to go see the eye specialist. Had to have it removed and have a stitch in the eyeball. Mark that down as a first for me. Something I don't want to do again. Bad accident. At the end of the day, don't take it out on your stick and try to hit the net. Not the stick's fault." It's good to see he has a sense of humor about the incident and he's been cleared to return to the lineup for Thursday's contest. However, coach Randy Carlyle may want to keep Cody Franson and Mark Fraser in after they both played well against Buffalo on Tuesday night.

Mike Komisarek got a piece of fiberglass in his eye Monday and won't play Tuesday night.

Given the history of NHL players and eye injuries, it's lucky Komisarek isn't hurt worse. There' no timetable on how much time he'll miss, but we'll let you know as soon as we hear more. On the season, he has no points, two penalty minutes and has a +1 rating.

Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Komisarek feels this season is an opportunity to prove his detractors wrong.

Komisarek knows that he's a candidate to have his contract bought out by the club over the summer, saying "I don't want to make a headline, but you want to quiet people down and you want to shut people up. I know what I've shown is not the player I'm capable of [being]… I'm probably my harshest critic and I'm disappointed in myself, but you move on. I'm looking forward to having a good season." The defensive-minded blueliner is not worth a selection in fantasy leagues.

Mike Komisarek won't play for at least three weeks after sustaining an upper body injury on Thursday.

Komisarek ranks second on the Leafs with a plus-four rating, he's third with 37 hits, and second with 39 blocked shots. Fortunately for the Leafs, the organization is pretty deep when it comes to blueliners and other players should be able to step up and fill the void.
