Tuomo Ruutu has signed a one-year pact with HC Davos of the NLA in Switzerland.
In 735 career NHL games with Chicago, Carolina and New Jersey the 33-year-old posted 148 goals and 346 points with 596 PIMs and 1,513 hits. Not too shabby for a career that includes being swapped one-for-one for Andrew Ladd in 2008. Ruutu however was not on any of the Cup teams for Carolina nor Chicago. Fri, Oct 28, 2016 08:06:00 PM

Tuomo Ruutu scored a shorthanded goal on Sunday.

Ruutu is on a PTO with the Canucks and it's beginning to look like he will make the final roster because of his strong play. "When I don’t think too much and just play physical, I play my best and I’m stronger with the puck," Ruutu said. "In a situation like this (PTO), you want to live in the moment and now is the time to do it. I’m just trying to play hard and everything else is out of my hands. I was drafted as a center and it was hard for me, but I like it because it helps me get into the game." Ruutu had only one assist in 33 games last season so there is no room to go but up for his fantasy value. However, he is not worth taking at this time because there are plenty of better options in the NHL.

Tuomo Ruutu has agreed to a professional tryout offer with the Vancouver Canucks.

Ruutu is looking to bounce back after registering one assist in 33 games with the New Jersey Devils last season. He was frequently scratched in 2015-16, but he's also a veteran of 735 NHL games and he might have some value to the Canucks as a depth forward. Just don't expect him to have much, if any, fantasy value even if he makes the team.

Tuomo Ruutu, Bobby Farnham, and David Warsofsky will each be scratched Tuesday against Buffalo.

Unfortunately there isn't much fantasy value to speak of here. If your league still tracks tough guys however, Farnham has posted 82 hits and 87 PIMs in 49 games with New Jersey thus far.

Tuomo Ruutu is a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the Florida Panthers.

The 33-year-old hasn't been very effective for the Devils this season. He has no goals or points in 32 games in 2015-16. Vojtech Mozik will also watch the game from the press box.

Tuomo Ruutu returned to action Saturday night.

He had missed the Thursday game against the Sharks with a minor injury. Ruutu has long lost any fantasy value so his return should really not impact anyone's fantasy roster.

Tuomo Ruutu won't be available to play in Thursday's game against the Sharks.

Ruutu is dealing with a minor injury according to head coach John Hynes. He's can probably be considered day-to-day. The 33-year-old has no points and a minus-6 rating in 23 games this season. He shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.

Tuomo Ruutu has been fined $5,000 for slew-footing Pittsburgh's Matt Cullen.

The incident occurred this past Sunday and it earned Ruutu two minutes in the box for tripping. He has no points in 23 games this season.

Tuomo Ruutu, Eric Gelinas, and Damon Severson will be scratched from Friday's match with the Islanders.

Unfortunately there isn't a lick of fantasy value between these three, which is rather disappointing. Ruutu previously was a quality source of tough guy stats but has just 31 hits in 15 games this season. While Gelinas and Severson were both expected to produce offensively, yet have just 19 points between them.

Tuomo Ruutu and Eric Gelinas will be scratched against the Flyers on Tuesday night.

With no points and just 31 hits in 15 for the Devils this season, it seems plain to say that Ruutu is without much fantasy value anymore. Gelinas meanwhile has six points and 51 hits in 34 games, so there isn't much within him either.

Tuomo Ruutu will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against the New York Rangers.

The 32-year-old will be a healthy scratch for a fourth consecutive game. He has no goals and no assists in 15 games this season. Damon Severson and Stefan Matteau will join him in the press box.
Mon, Feb 8, 2016 07:07:00 PM

Tuomo Ruutu and Stefan Matteau will be scratched against the Rangers on Tuesday night.

While Matteau has not made much of an impact at the NHL level, Ruutu has continued to be a nice veteran presence. He's posted no points and 30 hits in 15 games thus far, but he's been limited to injury so if you see him pick up the physical play, take a flier if your league rewards it.

Tuomo Ruutu (lower body) has been removed from the injured reserve list.

The Devils sent Paul Thompson to the minors earlier in the day and now we know why. Ruutu has no points in nine games this season.

Tuomo Ruutu is dealing with a lower-body injury.

Ruutu has been moved to the injured reserve list, retroactive to Wednesday. That was his first game back after missing four straight games due to a combination of an illness and simply being a healthy scratch. We don't know how severe his current injury is at this time.
