Dan Hamhuis registered an assist on Friday.

Hamhuis has 10 points in 17 games this season. He should end up with about 20-25 points this season.

Dan Hamhuis was on the ice Monday and seems to have recovered from his groin injury.

Hamhuis will partner with Kevin Bieksa on the Canucks blueline and we suggest drafting the Canuck blueliner as he seems to have returned to health. He has had back-to-back plus-29 seasons and his 37 points last season certainly gives him a lot of fantasy value.

Dan Hamhuis sat out the first day of practice with a groin injury.

Hamhuis is likely day-to-day but you never know with groin injuries. It is one injury that comes up a lot during shortened and compressed seasons but of course the season has yet to start. Be a bit wary of Hamhuis and we suggest not drafting him high at this time despite his 37 points last season and back to back plus-29 ratings.

Although he is concerned about the NHL lockout that seems to be getting messier and messier, Vancouver defenseman Dan Hamhuis was focusing mostly on something positive Monday -- the induction of former Canucks star Pavel Bure into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

"He was the guy I grew up watching and he was so exciting because every time he touched the puck something could happen right from his first game he played," recalled Hamhuis. "It’s good to see his recognition with the Hockey Hall of Fame, and it’s well deserved." What about raising No. 10 to the Rogers Centre rafters? Because Bure wasn’t warm and fuzzy — his contract controversies and eventual trade created a circus-like atmosphere — some simply don’t want his number associated with the retired digits of Stan Smyl, Trevor Linden and Markus Naslund. Hamhuis has no doubt whether Bure’s number should be raised. "I think it should," he said. "He’s well deserving of it. . ."

Dan Hamhuis says that commissioner Gary Bettman "seems to be on some hidden agenda" with regards to the staring contest the Players' Assocation and the owners find themselves in.

Hamhuis expressed his frustration to the Vancouver Province's Ben Kuzma, thoroughly disappointed at the unwillingness from the owners to negotiate and believes, like many others, that the owners have a Dec. 1 date in mind for for when to reach an agreement. "When they offered 50-50, we figured it would be one of three things: It was pressure from other owners to put an offer out, an actual legitimate chance of negotiating or just Gary and he’s got a date in his head when everything comes back together," Hamhuis said. "He seems to be on some hidden agenda and a day they [owners] can’t go past. If that’s what it is and we keep conceding, it only makes sense for us to hold out." Hamhuis thinks the owners have to be the next to budge.

Dan and Sarah Hamhuis have donated $100,000 to help build a new Ronald McDonald House.

It will be a 73-room building on the grounds of BC Children’s Hospital. The hope is to have the building's construction completed by January 2014.

Dan Hamhuis was on the ice with skating coach Barb Aidelbaum on Tuesday.

Hamhuis was doing drills as he tries to gear up for hockey despite the lockout. Hamhuis isn't sure how often he'll continue to work with Aidelbaum if the lockout continues to drag. They've already had four sessions since he got back to Vancouver.

Dan Hamhuis practiced on the first power play unit Saturday.

Hamhuis lined up on the blueline with Alexander Edler while Daniel and Henrik Sedin and Ryan Kesler were up front. Christopher Higgins, David Booth and Alexander Burrows will be up front on the second unit with Sami Salo and Kevin Bieksa on the point. Hamhuis is second in TOI in the playoffs as his 24:16 minutes per game trail only Bieksa.

Dan Hamhuis is satisfied with the $2,500 fine Colorado forward Chuck Kobasew received Monday for his trip on the Canuck defenceman on Saturday.

The incident occurred at 13:20 of the second period when Kobasew tripped Hamhuis as he touched the puck on an icing call. "Fortunately, I didn't get hurt," Hamhuis said. "His stick definitely knocked my one skate out and I was able to catch it. But it's a dangerous play that we have talked about as players in the summer. In those tight races and close situations it's great to try to get an icing or negate an icing, but the risk of injury is so high, it is such a dangerous play, that as a forward you'd hope that maybe you could keep your stick as far away as you can from a D-man's feet. "Maybe with the fine they are just trying to reiterate that and make guys aware."

Dan Hamhuis scored his third goal of the season in the Cancucks 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames.

Hamhuis is a moderate option as a fantasy blueliner. He's on pace for 40 points, and he has a great +/- with a +12. He has seven power play points, which is solid, but his value would get a boost if he got more time and someone like Sami Salo took a back seat. If he's your third or fourth defenseman, then you're looking good, but if he's higher then you should make a trade for a better blueliner.

Dan Hamhuis missed practice on Friday.

Coach Alain Vigneault said that Hamhuis needed a maintenance day. Hamhuis is having a nice season as the blueliner has two goals, 15 points and a plus-eight rating to go with 22 penalty minutes, making him a nice third defenseman in fantasy pools.

His official job description with the Vancouver Canucks may be shutdown defenseman, but Dan Hamhuis has also been contributing nicely at the other end of the ice and would be a shrewd fantasy option if he's still available.

Hamhuis notched an assist on David Booth's first-period goal in Vancouver's 4-1 win Tuesday night over the Columbus Blue Jackets and now has 12 points in his past 14 games. He produced all of one assist in his first 10 games. "Even defensive guys like getting points," Hamhuis said. "It's fun to stand on the offensive blue line and make plays and to be a part of the offence." Hamhuis was a point-a-game player in his final two years of junior with the Prince George Cougars and in his second NHL season with the Nashville Predators, he recorded 38 points.

Dan Hamhuis has two goals and 10 points in his last 11 games.

That's not too shabby for an all-star offensive defenseman like a healthy Mike Green, never mind Hamhuis who had only an assist in his first 10 games with a minus-four rating. He really has turned his season around and has been plus-six in his last 11 games as well. He is worth picking up if you are looking for a defenseman in a deep league.

Dan Hamhuis had four shots on goal in Vancouver's 3-0 loss Wednesday.

That's a season-high for Hamhuis, but he still was minus-two on the night. He has just one assist in 10 games in 2011-12.
