The negotiation rights to Dan Hamhuis could be moved by Vancouver at the NHL Draft this weekend.
"We would do something like that, but we haven't had any calls," GM Jim Benning said Monday. "And that whole situation with Dan I would say is still fluid. We're going to see at the draft when we're talking to other teams if there are players who make us better and then we can circle back with Dan and try to get something figured out. There's nothing that has changed on that, we're still trying to figure it out." Hamhuis is expected to test unrestricted free agency on July 1. Jun 21 - 4:15 PM

Date:

Dan Hamhuis picked up his second goal of the season during Friday's 3-2 win over Anaheim.

Hamhuis' first goal came just eight games ago, if this were October we'd say something about being on track for a 10 goal season. But it's April, so just enjoy the tally for what it is.
Apr 2 - 12:56 AM

Dan Hamhuis was the lone goal scorer for the Vancouver Canucks on Monday.

It was Hamhuis' second goal of the 2015-16 campaign. He has ten points this season in forty-one games played. Hamhuis' goal was assisted by Linden Vey and Daniel Sedin.
Mar 8 - 2:24 AM

Dan Hamhuis assisted on both of Vancouver's goals during Thursday's 3-2 loss to San Jose.

The veteran defender is now up to just eight points on the season, and is without a goal through 39 games. With just 52 goals and 296 points in 852 career games, we wouldn't look to him for offensive production.
Mar 4 - 1:29 AM

Dan Hamhuis will indeed play Sunday night against San Jose.

This could be Hamhuis' final game with the Canucks, as he's already agreed to be traded to certain teams. All that's left to do is for Vancouver to pull the trigger.
Feb 28 - 6:20 PM

Dan Hamhuis has agreed to be traded to certain teams.

Hamhuis has a no-trade contract so getting permission was important. "We’d like to stay," Hamhuis said. "But we have an open mind to going, possibly to the right fit, if that’s what (the Canucks) want to do." Hamhuis has little fantasy value with only six assists in 36 games but he is a valuable defenseman in real hockey.
Feb 28 - 9:44 AM

Vancouver hasn't asked Dan Hamhuis if he'd waive his no-trade clause yet.

There's been a report that Chicago is interested in acquiring Hamhuis before the trade deadline. The fact that the Canucks haven't approached Hamhuis yet doesn't necessarily mean anything, as Vancouver might want to have something more substantial before discussing the possibility with the defenseman.
Feb 25 - 3:06 PM

Dan Hamhuis registered an assist in a 2-1 victory over Arizona Wednesday night.

Hamhuis has no goals and five assists in 30 contests in 2015-16. You'd have to go back to April 9, 2014 to find the last time he scored a goal.
Feb 11 - 11:32 AM

Dan Hamhuis will return to Vancouver's blue line against Calgary on Saturday.

"And it's been a long couple of months," Hamhuis told Kevin Woodley, "especially the first month dealing with the severity of the injury and the second month getting back into playing shape." Hamhuis has missed the last 21 games after taking a puck to the face. In 27 games this season the veteran defender has accumulated four points, 34 hits, and 43 blocks and he will pair with Luca Sbisa as the team's second defensive unit.
Feb 6 - 8:59 PM

Dan Hamhuis (facial fractures) should be back on Saturday.

It would be Hamhuis' first game since Dec. 9. The fact that Vancouver likes his chances of returning on Saturday is probably what motivated the Canucks to place Yannick Weber on waivers Friday afternoon.
Feb 5 - 3:37 PM

Dan Hamhuis (facial fractures) will miss Thursday's game.

Canucks coach Willie Desjardins previously stated that Hamhuis was more likely to return on Saturday than Thursday, so this isn't a surprise. Hamhuis has four assists in 27 contests in 2015-16.
Feb 4 - 3:33 PM

Odds are that Dan Hamhuis (facial fractures) will return on Saturday rather than Thursday, per coach Willie Desjardins.

Either way, Hamhuis is clearly day-to-day at this point. He has four assists in 27 contests in 2015-16.
Feb 3 - 4:55 PM

Dan Hamhuis (facial fractures) is close to returning to action.

Hamhuis suffered the injury on December 9 when he took a puck to the face. Hamhuis is slated to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and the Canucks could unload him at the trade deadline if they are out of the playoff race. Hamhuis does have a no-movement clause and that could hinder any attempt to deal him. He has four assists in 27 games so his fantasy value is negligible.
Feb 1 - 8:52 AM

Dan Hamhuis (facial fractures) has resumed skating.

Hamhuis might be able to rejoin the Canucks in early-to-mid February. He has four assists in 27 contests in 2015-16.
Jan 22 - 6:18 PM

Dan Hamhuis has facial fractures as a result of being struck by the puck during Wednesday's game.

Hamhuis will need to undergo surgery on Friday. There's no timetable for his recovery at this time, but we might get more information after the operation. He has four assists in 27 games this season.
