Ales Hemsky potted a goal in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Columbus.

Hemsky has recorded just 14 points in 36 contests this season, but he has been better at picking up points lately. He has registered three goals and one assist in his past five games. Still, it's hard to recommend giving him a chance on your fantasy roster right now.

Ales Hemsky got his third goal of 2014-15 in Monday's 3-2 win over the New York Rangers.

His shot was deflected by Rangers defenseman Marc Staal and the puck went up and over Henrik Lundqvist to give Dallas a 2-1 lead at the time. Hemsky still has a lot of work to do before fantasy owners should consider picking him up again.

Ales Hemsky was honored with a video tribute in his return to Edmonton on Sunday.

"The people treat me really well here, so I can't complain about that," Hemsky said. "I had a few people who recognized me (Saturday) and said it was nice to see you. That was definitely nice to hear." He earned a pair of assists in Dallas' 6-5 shootout win over his old club. Hemsky has two goals and 10 points in 29 games this campaign.

Ales Hemsky will return to Edmonton for the first time since he was traded away last season.

Hemsky has had a horrendous season for the Stars. He's been a healthy scratch three times this season, and has just two goals and eight points in 28 games this season. Maybe playing his former team will give him the spark he needs to turn his season around, but that isn't likely.

Ales Hemsky could draw back into Dallas' lineup on Saturday.

He has been a healthy scratch for the past two games, but a three-game suspension for Ryan Garbutt has opened up a roster spot. Hemsky has recorded just two goals and seven points in 25 games this year. He also owns a minus-12 rating.

Ales Hemsky and Jyrki Jokipakka will be healthy scratches against the Jets on Tuesday night.

Hemsky has been a huge disappointment in Dallas, scoring just seven points in 25 games this season. No doubt leading to his benching. Jokipakka meanwhile has been a pleasant development. The 23 year old Finnish rookie defender has two points in nine games with Dallas.

Ales Hemsky was a healthy scratch in Saturday's win over Montreal.

Colton Sceviour and Curtis McKenzie played larger roles on Saturday because of Hemsky's absence from the lineup. Hemsky has been a huge disappointment for the Stars this season. The 31-year-old has just two goals and seven points in 25 games this season.

Ales Hemsky skated after practice Saturday morning leading to speculation that he could be a healthy scratch against the Canadiens.

Hemsky has literally played on all four lines in Dallas this season. Unfortunately, he has not had much success on any of them. If he does not suit up Saturday night at least you'll know why--Dallas coach Lindy Ruff will have lost patience with him.

Ales Hemsky skated with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn at practice on Monday.

That could be a combination that coach Lindy Ruff uses on Tuesday in Toronto. "He's had some great opportunities, and he's gotten pretty down on himself when he's missed those opportunities," said Ruff. "I'm just trying to get him to play more our game, and I think lately he has been doing a better job of that." Hemsky has one goal and five assists in 23 games this year.

It took 22 games but Ales Hemsky has finally scored.

The veteran winger finally bulged the twine Friday night in a 5-4 loss to Minnesota. Hemsky was not all that excited about finally scoring if truth be told. "It was nice to score a goal finally. It's been a long time. I'm happy about that, but we lost the game so it doesn't matter." Hemsky has been a tremendous disappointment so far with only six points this season. Maybe this is will be a turning point for Hemsky. We would watch him for a few more games before jumping to activate or pick him up.

Dallas will host Ales Hemsky's old team, the Edmonton Oilers, on Tuesday night.

He played 652 games with the organization after he was drafted 13th overall by the Oilers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Hemsky is excited for the contest and he's been showing signs of getting out of his scoring funk. "I feel like I'm getting plenty of good chances, and they're just not going in," he said. "When you do that, you just have to keep working and doing the same things, and you have to believe they will start going in." He's back to playing with Jason Spezza and has three assists in his past two games.

Ales Hemsky was urged by coach Lindy Ruff to start shooting more.

He doesn't have a goal on 32 shots in 18 games this season. Hemsky is back skating with Jason Spezza on the Stars' second line. "Ales is more of a play-maker, so he's not usually going to have high goal totals, but I am a goal scorer, and I need to have more than three," Spezza said. "We have to find a way to be patient around the net and then make the move to put the puck in. We're close, but we have to finish." The duo is worth keeping an eye on.

Dallas Stars winger Ales Hemsky may get a longer look on the top line after enjoying a few solid shifts with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin on Saturday.

Hemsky hasn't been very effective for the Stars so far, to put things charitably. He only has two assists (zero goals) in 16 games. If anything can inject some life into his game, it's playing with Dallas' dynamic duo. He might be worth monitoring if he can stick with Benn and Seguin for a decent stretch.
