Ales Hemsky suffered a tweaked groin during the World Cup.

Hemsky was representing the Czech Republic, which has been eliminated from the tournament. He had two assists in three contests. With it over he's heading back to Dallas, so we might hear more about his injury at that time, but for now regard him as day-to-day.

Ales Hemsky is looking forward to the World Cup of Hockey.

"It's nice. For European guys it is always special when you can play for your home country," Hemsky said. "That's how we grew up. That's why we go for the World Championship and any tournament we have a chance to go; we are proud to represent, and it's huge in the home country." He was added to the team in late May along with Dallas teammate Radek Faksa.

He is also tied for 17th in the league in SAT (shot attempt differential at even strength) at plus-35. Hemsky has scored just one goal and picked up two assists despite his impressive shot volume. He will try to break through in Game 7 against St. Louis on Wednesday night.

Ales Hemsky seems to have found his game in the playoffs.

The 32-year-old has one goal and four points in seven games, but he's also playing a better overall game for the Stars. "We had hard conversations about how I felt the game needed to be played, where I felt his game needed to go," coach Lindy Ruff said. "Did it always go his way? No. But from his defensive responsibilities to really buying into shooting the puck a little bit more, I think he's been a real good asset for us this year."

He worked out off the ice instead. The 32-year-old had 13 goals and 39 points in 75 games, and one goal and three points in five postseason games. He should be fine to be play in Game 6 on Sunday afternoon.

Ales Hemsky had six shots and scored his first goal of the 2016 playoffs in Game 4 against Minnesota.

He got the Stars on the board with a power-play marker. It also marked his first goal in the postseason since he played in the Stanley Cup Final with Edmonton. Hemsky has collected three points in four games in the series.

Ales Hemsky picked up an assist in Saturday's 2-1 win over Minnesota in Game 2.

Hemsky registered the only assist on Antoine Roussel's second period goal. The 32-year-old had a disappointing season for the Stars in 2015-16, but he's managed to pick up two assists in the first two games of the postseason. If he can find his game, he'll make the Stars attack that much more potent.

Wouldn't you know it, Hemsky picked up an assist. The helper gives him 40 points in 76 games, if you include the regular season. For his career in the playoffs, he's also now up to 12 assists and 18 points in 31 games.

The 32-year-old veteran now has 39 points in 74 games this season, his best output since 2010-11 with Edmonton. Hemsky had 17 points in 24 playoff games during the Oilers' run to the Cup in 2006.
