Ales Hemsky has signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Montreal Canadiens.
Hemsky struggled with a hip injury in 2016-17 and he played in just 15 games as a result. If the 33-year-old (he'll turn 34 in August) can stay healthy next season then this will be a nice bargain bin signing for the Canadiens. Jul 3 - 12:21 PM

"He's getting closer" coach Lindy Ruff said. "There's a good chance we could see him in the next couple games, not [Tuesday], but after that, I think we'd take a chance of trying to get him up and running. I don't think it's going to be easy for him to have that much time off, but he's at a place now where I think he's going to be cleared to play."
