Apr 15 - 10:44 AM

Chuck Kobasew was called up from the minors on Sunday April 13.

Kobasew excited fantasy fans in the first two games of the season as he scored twice but never did so again and yesterday was his 31st straight NHL game without a point as he finished the season with just two points. He played 14:55 minutes with three shots, three hits and a couple of blocked shots.
Apr 14 - 1:54 AM

Chuck Kobasew has been on a tear in the minors with seven goals and eight points in eight games.

Kobasew was demoted after he was waived at the trade deadline and found there were no takers. He has not been discouraged by the demotion despite the fact that it's the first time in 11 years that he has played minor league hockey. He'll look to catch on with another NHL team in the off-season.
Mar 30 - 7:52 AM

Chuck Kobasew, squeezed out of the Penguins' lineup by trade-deadline acquisitions, says he's treating the demotion as a chance to improve his game.

"I want to get the puck, have possession, be able to make plays," the 31-year-old forward said. "I don't know what my role will be yet on this team, but yeah, just try to fine-tune those things and get my game back to where it should be."
Mar 16 - 10:46 AM

Chuck Kobasew has been sent down to the minors.

Kobasew cleared waivers on Tuesday, but wasn't immediately demoted. Pittsburgh acquired Lee Stempniak and Marcel Goc on Wednesday, so sending down Kobasew now makes sense.

He has two goals in 31 games with the Penguins this year and both of them came in the first contests of the season.
Mar 3 - 12:34 PM

Chuck Kobasew and Deryk Engelland were healthy scratches on Saturday.

It's funny that there was a flurry of poolies picking Kobasew up off the waiver wire after he potted goals in the Penguins' first two games. Unfortunately for the people who picked him up, he has had no points since, a span of 27 games.

Jan 21 - 1:34 AM

It appears as though Chuck Kobasew (lower body) will return to the lineup on Monday.

James Neal and Paul Martin also look like they'll play against Florida, while Jayson Megna could sit even though he's a possibility to dress as well. Kobasew hasn't played since Dec. 31. The Penguins aren't going to make their final lineup decisions until game time.

The Penguins decided to use defenseman Deryk Engelland on the right wing in Kobasew's spot. That does not bode well for Kobasew in the future.

Chuck Kobasew (lower body) returned to the Penguins' practice on Monday.

Kobasew has been sidelined for 16 straight games. He was originally projected to miss three-to-four weeks after sustaining the injury on Oct. 28, but obviously that estimate has proven to be inaccurate.
