Shaone Morrisonn has been sent down to AHL Rochester after clearing waivers on Monday.

Morrisonn owns a cap hit of $2,075,000 this campaign, which is the second season of a two-year deal he signed in August, 2010. Buffalo has several defenders on their depth chart that are currently rated higher, so his salary made him an even easier target for demotion.

Morrisonn had a chance to make the back end for Buffalo but performed poorly. He will likely be sent to the minors if he passes waivers. Stay tuned for more info here.

A few Sabre' blogs are hinting that the team should get rid of Shaone Morrisonn to get back under the salary cap.

The Sabres are well over the cap, and Morrisonn's $2 million contract is not helping. While others think that Jason Pominville ($5.3 million owed this season) could be seen the door, the logical move would be to shed Morrisonn. Nevertheless, expect a move soon to clear up this situation.

Sabres' defenseman Shaone Morrisonn remains day-to-day, according to the team.

The Sabres will not disclose the nature of Morrisonn's injury, but speculation is that he suffered a concussion after being hit by Flyers' defenseman Braydon Coburn in Game One. The Sabres recalled Dennis Persson from Portland to take his place on the roster.

Shaone Morrisonn missed Friday's practice after taking a high hit from Philadelphia's Braydon Coburn on Thursday.

Sabres coach Lindy Ruff wouldn't say if Morrisonn was hurt and Morrisonn refused to comment. However, it's worth noting that Morrisonn has a history of concussions. Most recently, Morrisonn missed a few weeks in December because of a concussion. We'll keep you posted.

Shaone Morrisonn had a rough game in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Toronto.

He posted a minus-3 rating and saw just 8:36 of ice time as a result. "It was a game where I just want to throw it in the garbage because it just wasn't there," Morrisonn said. "The focus wasn't there. It's a tough way to play a game. It can't happen again." Buffalo is right back in action on Wednesday night against the New York Rangers.

Shaone Morrisonn will dress on Thursday night after being a healthy scratch on Tuesday.

He will replace Mike Weber on the Buffalo blueline against Boston. "He's had a pretty rough stretch with goals against," coach Lindy Ruff said of Morrisonn. "We're trying to keep the guys in going the best. I thought he had a little bit of a tough spell and maybe a game off [would help]. I thought Weber was OK in the [Pittsburgh] game. I'd like to see Morrisonn in again too."

Shaone Morrisonn played in his first game since recovering from a concussion.

Morrisonn sustained the injury on December 4th and was cleared to return on December 22nd. However, the Sabres decided to keep him out of action as a healthy scratch until Monday's contest. Morrisonn logged 16:05 minutes of ice time and he finished the game with a neutral plus/minus rating.

Shaone Morrisonn has been cleared to return from a concussion, but he will not play on Thursday night.

It will mark the eighth straight game he has sat out. "Today was his first good workout," coach Lindy Ruff said on Wednesday. "He needs to practice. He hasn’t been involved. He’s had a couple light skates, but he needs to practice."

Shaone Morrisonn (concussion) skated lightly with the Sabres on Friday.

"It’s good to get out and get a sweat," Morrisonn said. "With concussions, it’s kind of a process with the way you’ve got to come back and stuff, but I feel like I’m making progress. Not as quick as I want to be, but it’s something you can’t judge." Morrisonn has been out since December 4th.

Shaone Morrisonn (concussion) is now symptom-free and will start exercising and skating.

This is great news for Morrisonn owners as he suffered a concussion on Dec. 4 and has not been on the ice since. "Shaone is going to start skating," coach Lindy Ruff said after practice on Thursday. "He’s symptom free now, so we're going to get him riding a bike, we'll get him skating, and we'll see how he progresses." Morrisonn has only two assists and is minus-10 this season so he has no fantasy value at this time.

Shaone Morrisonn (head) will be out at least another week

Morrisonn is having concussion-like symptoms so he could be out a lot longer than that. Stay tuned.
Thu, Dec 9, 2010 02:49:00 PM

Shaone Morrisonn (head) was not on the ice for Wednesday's practice and he will probably not dress on Thursday against San Jose.

"Not feeling right," coach Lindy Ruff said regarding the defenseman's status. "It's the aftereffects of that headshot he took from [Columbus forward Jared] Boll, so we've had to shut him down a little bit. I'm not surprised. You know when you're not feeling right, and you know when you're feeling sick and it's not right. You can try to get through it. He was trying to get through it and it wasn't working out."
