Phoenix signed winger Tomas Surovy to a one-year contract Friday evening.
The former Penguin winger was a point-per-game player with Lulea HF of the Swedish Elite League last season and may get a chance to play on one of the Coyotes' scoring lines in 2007-08. Surovy, 25, could be a late bloomer. Keep an eye on him in training camp. Fri, Jul 13, 2007 10:07:00 PM

If you are looking for a replacement forward in your hockey pool, you could do worse than Tomas Surovy.

The 24-year-old winger has scored six goals and registered eight points in his last six games and has developped some real chemistry with Ziggy Palffy and Sidney Crosby. Keep an eye on Surovy as he might be worth picking up.

Tomas Surovy is thriving on a line with Ziggy Palffy and Sidney Crosby.

"We put Surovy with Crosby and Palffy and it was significant right away," coach Michel Therrien said. "The last two games (against the Buffalo Sabres) I couldn't find a guy who could play with those two guys. Surovy did a great job. He's got some speed and he opened up Sid and Ziggy." Keep an eye on Surovy as he may be worth adding to your fantasy roster should you need a short term replacement.

After last night's game, the Penguins recalled Tomas Survoy from Wilkes-Barre Scranton of the AHL.

With groin muscle injuries to Ziggy Palffy and John LeClair, Survoy, who has registered 28 points in 25 games including 16 goals with the Baby Pens this season, may actually get into a game.

Tomas Surovy scored 1 goal and 2 points for the Penguins tonight.

With Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby out of the lineup, Surovy and teammate Michel Ouellet each chipped in with 2 points for Pittsburgh. With all of the new acquisitions in Pittsburgh, Surovy will likely end up back in the AHL to start the season, so we cannot recommend him for fantasy purposes this year.

The Penguins re-signed Tomas Surovy to a mult-year contract yesterday.

Tomas Surovy was one of seven players demoted to Wilkes-Barre of the AHL yesterday.

Surovy needs to improve his intensity and overall game in order to land a roster spot in the NHL. However, bear in mind ,that the man can score. Surovy should return to Pittsburgh during the season, and with the Penguins' lineup so unsettled, could play on any of the teams' top three lines.

Tomas Surovy will again play on the Penguins' top line with Mario Lemieux and Martin Straka, reports the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

The 21-year-old Swede was scoring at a point a game pace (39 points in 38 games) for the Penguins' AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre before being called up almost 2 weeks ago. Lemieux seems to like this kid comparing him to fellow Slovak Peter Bondra. Who are we to argue. Take a chance and pick him up.
