Jay McClement moved up to Toronto's second line in Tuesday's overtime win over Buffalo and he responded with his best showing in a Leafs uniform.
He played on the wing with Mikhail Grabovksi and Nikolai Kulemin for most of the contest and scored his first goal of the season to open the scoring. McClement played a season-high 16:59 of ice time thanks to injuries up front. The 29-year-old has also helped improve the club's much-maligned penalty killing so far this year. He signed a two-year deal with Toronto this past summer. Jan 30 - 1:39 PM

Toronto is hoping that the addition of Jay McClement can improve their dismal record of killing penalties.

He averaged 3:06 of ice time per game while shorthanded with Colorado last season, which was the third highest total among forwards in the league. The Avalanche owned the NHL's 12th ranked penalty kill, which would be a great step up for the Leafs after they finished 28th in 2011-12. McClement is slated to occupy Toronto's third-line center spot next season.

Jay McClement isn't expected to re-sign with the Colorado Avalanche.

McClement is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He had 10 goals and 17 points in 80 games this season. They'll probably be some interest in his services as a third line center.

Jay McClement scored his fifth of the season in the 4-1 loss to Edmonton.

McClement is a solid depth player, but he isn't ever going to be confused with a scorer. He'll chip in every once in a while, but not enough to warrant grabbing him off the waiver wire,

Avalanche forward Jay McClement scored his second goal of the season and registered an assist in Colorado's 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh Tuesday.

McClement has had trouble staying in the lineup on a consistent basis therefore he offers no fantasy value right now. David Jones and Matt Duchene were the other goal scorers in the losing effort for the Avs.

Jay McClement was a healthy scratch on Thursday.

It was the first time this season that McClement found himself in the press box. Matt Hunwick was also a healthy scratch while Peter Mueller sat out his 13th straight game with a head injury.

Jay McClement has struggled with Colorado since his trade from St. Louis on Feb. 18.

McClement has nary a point for the Avs in 14 games with a minus-nine rating. "It's been tougher than I thought it was going to be," McClement said. "If you're with an organization and teammates for a number of years, I guess you get comfortable. I guess it's been a little tougher than I thought just fitting in, getting to know the guys and fitting in to the makeup of the team. I just have to work as hard as I can and let the rest take care of itself. The (offensive) part of my game is something that I know is struggling. I'm trying not to think about it too much, but obviously I know it's something I need to improve." He is not worth picking up in fantasy pools.

Jay McClement was dealt to Colorado in a blockbuster Friday night.

McClement was sent to Colorado along with Erik Johnson and a conditional first round pick. He was traded for Chris Stewart, Kevin Shattenkirk and a conditional second round pick. McClement remains pretty much useless in most fantasy formats for the rest of this season.

Jay McClement scored once to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 4-1 win over Columbus on Wednesday.

McClement now has four goals this season but it was only the second game in which he has scored as he had the hat trick on Oct. 30 against the Thrashers. "It's tough when you go through long stretches and don't get anything going," McClement said. Vladimir Sobotka, who was moved to the top line also scored, as did Alexander Steen and David Backes. McClement, Sobotka and Steen scored with the man-advantage as the Blues were a perfect 3-3 on the power play.

Jay McClement led the St. Louis Blues to a 4-3 shootout victory on Saturday with a hat trick.

This was a rare offensive outburst for McClement, who had just 46 goals in 401 career games going into this contest. The Blues are happy to have him in their lineup, but he doesn't have any fantasy value outside of tonight. Alexander Steen assisted on two of McClement's goals. Brad Boyes and T.J. Oshie scored for St. Louis in the shootout.

Jay McClement potted his fourth goal of the season in Saturday night’s 3-1 loss to the Sharks.

McClement had a strong game, even receiving a plus one rating on the night. The Blues’ lone assist came from Brad Winchester.

Jay McClement is a valuable member of the Blues.

He is a leader on and off the ice and does an excellent job killing penalties for the club. He led all NHL forwards in short-handed playing time with 315:08 minutes last season. However, this campaign he has added to the team's offense in the early going. McClement notched a goal and three assists in two wins over the Red Wings in Sweden. He centers a solid checking line with Alexander Steen and B.J. Crombeen, but offense has never been a strong suit to his game. Despite his strong start he should not be on your fantasy radar at this time.
