Jan 2 - 6:56 PM

Jay McClement scored a goal in a 5-4 victory over Arizona.

It was McClement's first goal and sixth point of the season. The 32-year-old forward shouldn't be on your radar if you're in a standard league.

Jay McClement has four assists in 21 contests in 2015-16.

McClement hasn't found the back of the net since March 26. If you're in a standard league, then he shouldn't be on your radar as he doesn't have offensive upside nor does he accumulate much in the way of penalty minutes.

Jay McClement has an assist in nine games this season.

McClement is in the first season of a two-year, $2.4 million deal. We don't expect him to pick up the pace offensively in any significant way as the season progresses.

The Carolina Hurricanes have given Jay McClement a two-year extension worth $2.4 million.

McClement will get $1.3 million next season and $1.1 million in 2016-17. "Jay has played really well for us on the ice," GM Ron Francis said Sunday. "He’s been good on draws and a big part of our penalty killing. He's just the consummate pro and has been a real good guy for us in the locker room and good role model for our younger guys." McClement has six goals and 18 points this season after a two goal effort on Saturday.

Sun, Feb 15, 2015 05:23:00 AM

Jay McClement scored a goal in Carolina's 3-1 loss to Detroit on Sunday.

The goal was McClement's first as a member of the Hurricanes. The 31-year-old scored late in the second period to cut Detroit's lead to 3-1, but it wasn't enough. McClement is a bottom-six forward who doesn't have much offensive upside. You can ignore him in all fantasy formats.

Jay McClement will see plenty of action this season as the Hurricanes shut down center.

McClement will not score a lot but he will be a top face off man and is worth drafting late if you play that category. Coach Bill Peters is still not sure who will line up with McClement. "All I know is I'm looking for somebody who can play with Jay McClement, on either side, be a responsible player, and play against the best players in the league," Peters said. "Whether that's a third-line checking line, or if I miss on a matchup they're my security blanket, I don't know that yet. We need a responsible line that's basically our template on how to play. They do it right each and every night. ‘JMac’ and two others."

Jay McClement is projected to serve as the Hurricanes' fourth-line center in 2014-15.

McClement will also help kill penalties after inking a one-year, $1 million contract. "I take pride in penalty killing," said McClement, an alternate captain for the Leafs. "That's been a big part of my role wherever I have been. Special teams can win games, and penalty killing can be the difference in winning and losing games." He obviously has no fantasy value in standard leagues though.

Jay McClement signed a one year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday evening worth $1 million.

"Jay is a veteran centerman who is proficient in the faceoff circle," said Canes' GM Ron Francis. "He’ll also provide elements of consistency and leadership for our club." The 31 year old veteran also spent an abundance of time killing penalties for Toronto last season, and is a big, blue-collar forward who can help Carolina improve their play in their own zone.
