Mike Weaver will not be re-signed by the Montreal Canadiens.

Weaver was inked to a one-year, $1.7 million contract for the 2014-15 campaign. He had four assists in 31 contests, so Montreal's decision isn't surprising.
May 15 - 11:59 AM

The Montreal Canadiens will be running the same lineup as they have been on Tuesday night, as they try to stave off elimination in Game Six versus Tampa Bay.

Defensemen Mike Weaver, Greg Pateryn, and Sergei Gonchar and forwards Manny Malhotra and Brian Flynn will each remain in the press box, hoping for another day to possibly get back into the lineup.

May 12 - 6:24 PM

Defensemen Mike Weaver and Sergei Gonchar and forward Manny Malhotra will be healthy scratches for Game 3 Wednesday night against the Lightning.

The Canadiens will elect to use the same set of defense they've rolled with for the entire 2015 playoffs, meaning Weaver and Gonchar will watch from the press box yet again. Also scratched is the veteran forward Malhotra. The trio has yet to see game action during the 2015 postseason and none carry any fantasy value for those in daily leagues.
May 6 - 5:42 PM

Manny Malhotra, Mike Weaver and P.A. Parenteau will be scratched in Tuesday's big divisional game against Tampa Bay.

Many expected Parenteau to be a top-six forward for the Habs this season, but that hasn't panned out. Weaver and Malhotra don't bring anything to the table fantasy-wise.
Mar 10 - 7:18 PM

Mike Weaver will get back into the lineup for Thursday's game against Los Angeles.

Weaver has been a healthy scratch in eight consecutive games and in 13 of Montreal's last 15 games. He doesn't have any fantasy value going forward. Sergei Gonchar will take a seat to make room for Weaver.
Mar 5 - 8:44 PM

Mike Weaver is expected to be a healthy scratch for the seventh straight game Monday versus the Sharks.

Weaver has not been much of a factor for the Canadiens this year having skated in only 30 games this season and just four since the new year arrived. He has four assists and six penalty minutes over the year and has no fantasy value.
Mar 2 - 9:00 PM

Mike Weaver will be scratched for his sixth straight game on Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Unfortunately, the veteran defender Weaver has played in just seven games since the end of November. Through 30 games this season, he has four points, 35 hits, and 60 blocks.
Feb 28 - 6:23 PM

Mike Weaver will be scratched versus the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.

Through a combination of scratches and injuries, Weaver has played in just seven games since American Thanksgiving. Though two of those games have come in the last week, he has just 30 for the season with four points, 35 hits, 60 blocks to show for his efforts.
Feb 21 - 6:11 PM

Tom Gilbert will tag in for Mike Weaver as Montreal takes Florida on Thursday night.

Through 53 games this season, Gilbert's biggest fantasy asset is easily his 103 blocks this season. So if you're in a need of a steady supply, he has 18 over his last 10 games.
Feb 19 - 7:13 PM

Mike Weaver will be in the press box Wednesday night when the Canadiens visit the Senators.

Weaver has not been able to tally a goal in 30 games played this year and has just four assists to show for, so Montreal head coach Michel Therrien will elect to dress Greg Pateryn Wednesday night. Weaver has skated in three games in the month of February this season and has no fantasy value.
Feb 18 - 5:07 PM

Mike Weaver and Manny Malhotra will continue to sit out Thursday night against the Edmonton Oilers.

Neither has played since Feb. 1st against Arizona, severely diminishing whatever modicum of fantasy value either has been able to put together this season. Until they can get back into the lineup consistently, you should look elsewhere for depth production.
Feb 12 - 7:07 PM

Mike Weaver and Manny Malhotra will be scratched against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.

Weaver has played just 28 games this season, and only five times since Dec. 1st, 2014 because of a combination of injuries and ineffective play. Malhotra has just one point this season in 46 games. With such pitiful stats, neither can be advised for your fantasy squad.
Feb 10 - 7:10 PM

Mike Weaver and Manny Malhotra will be scratched against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.

In 74 combined games, these two veterans have just five assists between them. Whether that's ineffective play or heavy defensive zone starts, it certainly amounts to not being viable options for fantasy purposes.
Feb 3 - 7:25 PM

Mike Weaver and Gabriel Dumont will both be healthy scratches in Thursday's game against the New York Rangers.

Weaver was acquired at the trade deadline last year, and he was a regular defenseman then. This year, he hasn't been able to crack the Habs' lineup too often. Dumont was called up from the minors earlier this week. He was called up because P.A. Parenteau (concussion) isn't available.
