Michael Cammalleri is going all out to win despite Calgary fans wanting the first overall pick in the upcoming 2013 Draft.

The Flames are battling the Panthers and Colorado for last place overall in the NHL and had a chance to fall to the basement Monday with a loss to the Avs, but they pulled out a 3-1 win to jump into a tie with Florida for 28th overall, three points ahead of Colorado. "You're not going to go out there and shoot on your own goalie," Michael Cammalleri said. "You're going to go out there and play as hard as you can, and you're going to try and win the game. That's our job."

The Calgary Flames will have to adjust to life after the Jarome Iginla trade.

"He’s been such a presence on this team, for this city, this organization, for so long," Michael Cammalleri said. "He’s such a dominant player. A guy who is in the lineup all the time, not missing any games. It will be different, for sure, without him." With Iginla gone, the Flames will be relying more on Cammalleri. Cammalleri had three assists on Feb. 5 before suffering a hip flexor and certainly didn't slow down despite missing three straight games. After getting a hat trick in his return to Calgary's lineup, Cammalleri now has nine points in eight games this season. Roman Cervenka netted his second goal and registered his third assist in eight games. Jay Bouwmeester, Jiri Hudler, and Curtis Glencross each scored a goal for the Flames. Lee Stempniak, Jarome Iginla, and Alex Tanguay each assisted on two of Calgary's seven goals.

Michael Cammalleri (hip flexor) is not ready to return.

It was thought that Cammalleri would be ready to go on Monday but that was not to be the case. He practiced on Monday but remained on the injured reserve list. "He's getting much better," coach Bob Hartley said. "He skated (Sunday). He's closer. Whenever you see players on the ice, it's always a good sign. We will never put players in a situation where we feel our medical staff wouldn't be good with it." Cammalleri is close to returning but consider him day-to-day for now.
