Based on earlier reports, it sounds like Cammalleri and the Flames were actually within range of each other in terms of his average annual salary, but the roadblock was the length of the deal. Cammalleri had 26 goals and 45 points in 63 games with the Flames in 2013-14.

Bob McKenzie of TSN reports that term appears to more of an issue than the money involved a potential new deal. Cammalleri registered 26 goals and 45 points in 63 games this past season. He can become an unrestricted free agent next month.

According to Elliotte Friedman of the CBC, Michael Cammalleri has spoken to new Calgary GM Brad Treliving.

However, it wasn't a serious negotiating session between the two sides and it was more of a "feeling-out, get-to-know-each-other conversation." Cammalleri can become an unrestricted free agent in July, but he appears to be willing to hear what the Flames have to offer.

Calgary star Mike Cammalleri reached a milestone with his game-winning goal Friday night - his 500th point which came by converting a fantastic cross-ice pass from Jiri Hudler.

"It’s special to reach certain benchmarks like that," Cammalleri said with his milestone puck sitting in his stall. "Whenever something like that happens, it gives you a second to reflect and appreciate what we get to do and all the people that have helped you. I think my best hockey is ahead of me, so I look forward to many more." The way Cammalleri has produced since the trade deadline, he could have many more before the season concludes just over a week from now. Cammalleri, who was the subject of all kinds of rumours leading up to the trade deadline but surprisingly wasn’t dealt, has netted 12 goals and 21 points in the 17 games since d-day.

Cammalleri's 26th of the season is his 12th marker in his past 17 games, very impressive considering the tear came after he scored just one goal in his previous 14. The 31 year-old impending free agent has 43 points through 61 games with the Flames.
