Mike Cammalleri is completely over the hand injury that shut him down last season.
"I’m coming to camp with no issues," Cammalleri said. "It was a complex diagnosis that took some time. It was tough and it was a frustrating year. It was a complex diagnosis that they couldn’t put a hand on. It was nice to get clarity on that." Cammalleri had 14 goals and 38 points in 42 games with New Jersey in 2015-16. He'll be looking to play in at least 70 contests for the first time since 2008-09. Sep 23 - 11:08 AM

Cammalleri's not close to returning and at this point the idea that he might miss the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign hasn't been dismissed. This has put a damper on what had been a great campaign for him as he has 14 goals and 38 points in 42 games.
Feb 26 - 6:02 PM

Mike Cammalleri (hand) will miss Thursday and Friday's games.

Cammalleri hasn't played since January 26th. "We're trying to figure out what's best for him and what his recovery is going to be," Devils coach John Hynes said. "He's trying the best he can as a player to try to get back and it's an injury that there's good days and bad days and that's kind of the yin and the yang that we have to deal with right now." Cammalleri's absence has been particularly unfortunate because he was having such a good season. He has 14 goals and 38 points in 42 contests in 2015-16.
Feb 25 - 11:08 AM

Mike Cammalleri (hand) didn't practice on Monday.

Coach John Hynes said that Cammalleri won't play Tuesday and his status beyond that is uncertain. "It's difficult to say because some days it looks better than others, some days it doesn't," Hynes said. "So, it's one of those (injuries) where for us and for him, he does things to help it get better and we try to progress it and sometimes there's a setback and sometimes it keeps going forward, so there's really no answer or time frame. It could be the end of this week. It could be two weeks. I don't know." The hope was that he would be able to return this week, but that is looking unlikely now.
Feb 22 - 5:23 PM

Coach John Hynes said after Friday's game that Mike Cammalleri could return next week.

The coach was hopeful that Cammalleri was getting close to returning from a hand injury that has kept him out of action since January 26. "He's continuing to progress, so we have him right now as day to day," Hynes said. "We went into this weekend knowing he wasn't going to play these two days, but he is skating and coming back. So, hopefully, at some point this week coming up he should be back." Cammalleri has 38 points in 42 games this season and if he can return, activate him.

Cammalleri is skating on his own, but he hasn't resumed practicing with the team yet.

Feb 15 - 12:32 PM

Mike Cammalleri (hand) practiced on Sunday and could return to the lineup as early as Tuesday.

That is only a possibility as there have been plenty of reports last week stating the opposite. "I don’t really have an answer to that," coach John Hynes said when asked about Cammalleri's availability for Tuesday's game. "I know he skated [Sunday], but didn’t do much with his stick. So, again, it’s one of those things where I’ll probably be able to give you a much better update [this] afternoon." Cammalleri has 38 points in 42 games so his presence has definitely been missed.
