Paul Martin (lower body) was absent for a 15th consecutive game on Thursday.
It looked like Martin might be able to return as early on Nov. 11, but he's remained on the sidelines. The good news is that he has been skating without pain so it might not be too much longer before he does come back. Nov 17 - 8:44 AM

It seems as if Paul Martin is healthy enough to play Saturday against Vancouver.

He seems to have recovered from an ankle injury. The question is, will he be back in the lineup? San Jose coach Peter DeBoer seems to think Martin is not completely healthy and seems to be leaning towards continuting to play Joakim Ryan, who has played very well in Martin's spot, alongside Brett Burns. That would keep Martin in the pressbox Saturday. Keep an eye on this situation.
Nov 11 - 12:07 PM

Paul Martin (ankle) probably won't return on Saturday.

Martin hasn't dismissed the possibility, but his tentative target is to be back next week. He hasn't played since Oct. 7 due to the injury.
Nov 2 - 5:53 PM

Paul Martin (ankle) is "doubtful" to join the Sharks on their upcoming road trip.

San Jose will host Montreal on Tuesday before going on a five-game road swing. If that timetable holds then Martin will be sidelined for the next two weeks.
Oct 16 - 3:38 PM

Paul Martin (ankle) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Martin had ankle surgery over the offseason and it seems that it's still bothering him. This move is presumably retroactive to Oct. 7 when he last played. It also means he's not available on Thursday. Joakim Ryan was summoned in a corresponding move.
Oct 12 - 2:29 PM

Paul Martin didn't participate in Wednesday's practice due to his ankle issue.

Martin underwent ankle surgery over the offseason. He's played in two games in 2017-18, but it looks like he'll take Thursday's contest off. Tim Heed is projected to draw into the lineup as a result.
Oct 12 - 11:05 AM

Paul Martin left Tuesday's practice early for maintenace.

Coach Pete DeBoer indicated that Martin is still dealing with the effects of off-season ankle surgery. He logged just 10:55 of ice time on Saturday versus Los Angeles. If he misses any time then Tim Heed could step into the lineup in his place. We will leave him active for now.
Oct 10 - 2:57 PM

The San Jose Sharks have announced that Paul Martin will make his pre-season debut tonight against the Arizona Coyotes.

Martin is coming off a 26-point season with the Sharks and will be an important piece in getting the Sharks to the post-season. However, he doesn't carry much fantasy upside.
Sep 30 - 2:24 PM

Paul Martin registered a pair of assists in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Dallas Stars.

Martin helped set up goals by Joe Pavelski in the first period and Joel Ward in the second frame. The veteran has accumulated four points in his last three games and he has four goals and 20 assists in 67 contests this season.
Mar 13 - 10:11 AM

Paul Martin scored the 50th goal of his career during Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Predators.

It was his fourth goal of the season. His career high is six, in case you're wondering. The veteran defender now has 22 points to his season.
Mar 11 - 8:13 PM

Paul Martin registered an assist in a 2-1 win over Tampa Bay Thursday night.

That ended a four-game point drought for Martin. He has three goals and 16 points in 45 contests this season, which is pretty good for him. The 35-year-old blueliner finished with 20 points in each of the last two campaigns.
Jan 20 - 11:34 AM

Paul Martin doesn't want to hear about this game-time decision stuff.

If the veteran blue liner has it his way, he'll be in Saturday's match with the Blues. Which, if we know anything about athletes, means he's overwhelmingly likely to play tonight. So, expect him to. Martin has picked up three goals and 15 points along with 21 blocks and 65 hits in 41 games this season.
Jan 14 - 1:54 PM

Paul Martin will be a game-time decision against the Blues on Saturday.

The veteran blue liner has been his usual quality self this season. Martin has picked up three goals and 15 points along with 21 blocks and 65 hits in 41 games this season. It is not yet known why he may miss the game, but we'll keep you posted.
Jan 14 - 1:48 PM

Paul Martin is expected back in the Sharks' lineup Saturday night against St. Louis.

He missed Wednesday't game with a lower-body injury but seems good to go Saturday.
Jan 14 - 1:02 PM

Paul Martin scored his first of the season Saturday.

The defenseman has nine points thus far and is a plus-six for the Sharks. The defenseman can be taken in deep, deep leagues but doesn't produce enough to be taken in most. Nevertheless, he should get more than 20 points for the first time in five seasons.
