Ray Emery allowed four goals on 20 shots and was pulled in favor of the injured Steve Mason late in Tuesday night's Game 3, which the Flyers lost 4-1.
Mason stopped all three shots he faced in the final eight minutes of the game, meaning Emery might have seen his last action if Mason is good to go for Friday's Game 4. Emery is 1-2 with a .888 save percentage and 3.49 goals against average, signifying that if Philly has any shot at making a run, they will need Mason back tending the pipes. Apr 22 - 11:14 PM

Date:

Ray Emery will be in goal for the Flyers in Game 3 on Tuesday night.

Steve Mason has been ruled out for the contest, so Cal Heeter will serve as Emery's backup again. Emery bounced back from a rough start in Game 2 to help Philadelphia rally for a 4-2 victory. As a result, there's a good chance that he would've started Game 3 even if Mason was ready.
Apr 21 - 1:55 PM

Ray Emery played a big role in the Philadelphia Flyers evening their series 1-1 against the New York Rangers thanks to a 4-2 Game 2 win on Sunday.

Emery got his first win since 2010-11 with the Anaheim Ducks, stopping 31 out of 33 shots. With Steve Mason's health in question, it should be interesting to see who starts for the Flyers in Game 3. Emery at least made an argument for himself with this performance.

Ray Emery will be between the pipes on Sunday.

Emery played in Game 1 as he allowed four goals on 36 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers. With starter Steve Mason still unable to go due to an upper body injury, Emery will try to square the series at one apiece. Teammate Wayne Simmonds thought that Emery was terrific in Game 1 as he made numerous great saves.
Apr 20 - 8:23 AM

Wayne Simmonds defended teammate Ray Emery's play in Philadelphia's 4-1 loss to the Rangers in Game 1 of the first round.

Emery was playing between the pipes because Steve Mason was unavailable due to an upper-body injury. Emery ended up stopping 32 of 36 shots. "Ray played unbelievable," Simmonds said. "He make the saves when he needed to. He made big saves. They had a four-minute power play there where they kind of stretched us out. They got two goals. I don’t think he really had a chance on those. They were crossing passes. He played awesome for us. He played unreal."
Apr 18 - 10:17 AM

Flyers goaltender Ray Emery struggled in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers in Game 1 of their opening round playoff series Thursday night.

Starting in place of number one netminder Steve Mason (upper body), Emery allowed four goals on 36 shots in the defeat, though he only deserves part of the blame as the Flyers were soundly outplayed on this night. With Mason's status for Game 2 still unclear, it's looking like Philly may have to use its backup again.
Apr 17 - 9:48 PM

Flyers coach Craig Berube fought against the idea that losing Steve Mason to an upper-body injury sets the Flyers back.

"I don't think our team feels like it's a blow at all," Berube said. "I totally disagree. Listen: There's injuries. Things happen, like I said. You're not always 100 percent. Good teams find a way to get it done." Emery will start in Game 1 of the first round as a result of Mason's injury. Emery doesn't have a ton of playoff experience, but he did lead Ottawa to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007. At the same time, he had a lukewarm 2.96 GAA and .903 save percentage in 28 games in 2013-14.
Apr 17 - 10:01 AM

Ray Emery will play in Game 1 of Philadelphia's series against the New York Rangers.

Steve Mason is dealing with an upper-body injury, so the Flyers need Emery to step up in his absence. Emery is certainly capable of doing that, but he struggled in the regular season with a 2.96 GAA and .903 save percentage in 28 games.
Apr 16 - 12:21 PM

Ray Emery will be between the pipes for the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

Emery came into the game Saturday at the start of the third period as Steve Mason was injured. While Mason is expected to be ready for the start of the playoffs which begin on Wednesday, Emery will take his 9-12-2 mark with a 2.96 GAA and a .903 save percentage into the finale against the Hurricanes.
Apr 13 - 8:26 AM

He came into the game in relief after Steve Mason exited due to injury. Emery stopped 12 of 14 shots in the match. Mason is expected to be OK for the playoffs.
Apr 12 - 7:00 PM

Ray Emery struggled against the Lightning Thursday, dropping a 4-2 decision.

Emery allowed four goals on 30 shots in the defeat, which drops his record to 8-12-2. Steve Mason is set to get all the playing time for the Flyers in the postseason so Emery will likely be spending a lot of time watching from the bench. His GAA is 2.92 and his save percentage is .904.
Apr 10 - 11:15 PM

Ray Emery will get the call for Philadelphia against Tampa Bay on Thursday.

Steve Mason has won the Flyers' past two games, but he'll get the night off. "I'm just rotating, and I don't know why that might hurt [Mason's] confidence," coach Craig Berube said. "I thought he played a good game in Florida, and he'll get back in there again."
Apr 10 - 2:04 PM

Ray Emery saved 37 of 41 shots in a 5-2 defeat against Boston on Saturday.

Emery was bombarded with 21 shots in the third period and finally allowed back-to-back goals just 31 seconds apart in the second half of the frame. Although he has started infrequently, this is the second time in his last three appearances that he has faced at least 40 shots.
Apr 5 - 3:56 PM

Ray Emery will start for Philadelphia on Saturday.

Emery will get his second start in three games after posting a 28-save shutout on Tuesday. He has a 2.81 GAA and .906 save percentage in 25 games this season.
Apr 4 - 1:49 PM

Ray Emery posted the rare shutout loss on Tuesday night, stopping all 28 shots versus St. Louis but allowing two shootout goals to hand the Blues a 1-0 victory.

Emery's second shutout of the season comes against the second best team in the NHL. Emery improves to 8-10-2 this season with a .906 save percentage and 2.81 goals against average.
