Ray Emery is dealing with a lower-body injury.

Emery is being listed as day-to-day. In the event that Emery isn't ready for the start of the regular season, Rob Zepp might temporarily serve as the team's backup goaltender.
Sep 26 - 2:02 PM

Ray Emery has agreed to a one-year, $1 million extension with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Emery wasn't able to beat Steve Mason out for the starting job in Philadelphia last season and we don't expect that to change in 2014-15. That said, Emery should get another 25 starts or so as the Flyers' backup goaltender.
Jul 1 - 4:15 PM

The negotiations between the Philadelphia Flyers and Ray Emery are on hold.

The Flyers don't seem to be in a rush to re-sign him, but they haven't completely ruled it out either. Philadelphia has committed to using Steve Mason as its starter next season, so if Emery wants a decent shot at the number one job, he might have to go elsewhere.
Jun 13 - 2:26 PM

The Philadelphia Flyers might re-sign Ray Emery.

Emery didn't have a great season, but he still should be a solid backup goaltender in 2014-15 if he's interested in that role. Emery might leave the Flyers in the hope that another team will give him a chance to compete for their starting job.
May 2 - 6:40 PM

Ray Emery allowed four goals on 20 shots and was pulled in favor of the injured Steve Mason late in Tuesday night's Game 3, which the Flyers lost 4-1.

Mason stopped all three shots he faced in the final eight minutes of the game, meaning Emery might have seen his last action if Mason is good to go for Friday's Game 4. Emery is 1-2 with a .888 save percentage and 3.49 goals against average, signifying that if Philly has any shot at making a run, they will need Mason back tending the pipes.
Apr 22 - 11:14 PM

Ray Emery will be in goal for the Flyers in Game 3 on Tuesday night.

Steve Mason has been ruled out for the contest, so Cal Heeter will serve as Emery's backup again. Emery bounced back from a rough start in Game 2 to help Philadelphia rally for a 4-2 victory. As a result, there's a good chance that he would've started Game 3 even if Mason was ready.
Apr 21 - 1:55 PM

Ray Emery played a big role in the Philadelphia Flyers evening their series 1-1 against the New York Rangers thanks to a 4-2 Game 2 win on Sunday.

Emery got his first win since 2010-11 with the Anaheim Ducks, stopping 31 out of 33 shots. With Steve Mason's health in question, it should be interesting to see who starts for the Flyers in Game 3. Emery at least made an argument for himself with this performance.
Apr 20 - 3:12 PM

Ray Emery will be between the pipes on Sunday.

Emery played in Game 1 as he allowed four goals on 36 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers. With starter Steve Mason still unable to go due to an upper body injury, Emery will try to square the series at one apiece. Teammate Wayne Simmonds thought that Emery was terrific in Game 1 as he made numerous great saves.
Apr 20 - 8:23 AM

Wayne Simmonds defended teammate Ray Emery's play in Philadelphia's 4-1 loss to the Rangers in Game 1 of the first round.

Emery was playing between the pipes because Steve Mason was unavailable due to an upper-body injury. Emery ended up stopping 32 of 36 shots. "Ray played unbelievable," Simmonds said. "He make the saves when he needed to. He made big saves. They had a four-minute power play there where they kind of stretched us out. They got two goals. I don’t think he really had a chance on those. They were crossing passes. He played awesome for us. He played unreal."
Apr 18 - 10:17 AM

Flyers goaltender Ray Emery struggled in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers in Game 1 of their opening round playoff series Thursday night.

Starting in place of number one netminder Steve Mason (upper body), Emery allowed four goals on 36 shots in the defeat, though he only deserves part of the blame as the Flyers were soundly outplayed on this night. With Mason's status for Game 2 still unclear, it's looking like Philly may have to use its backup again.
Apr 17 - 9:48 PM

Flyers coach Craig Berube fought against the idea that losing Steve Mason to an upper-body injury sets the Flyers back.

"I don't think our team feels like it's a blow at all," Berube said. "I totally disagree. Listen: There's injuries. Things happen, like I said. You're not always 100 percent. Good teams find a way to get it done." Emery will start in Game 1 of the first round as a result of Mason's injury. Emery doesn't have a ton of playoff experience, but he did lead Ottawa to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007. At the same time, he had a lukewarm 2.96 GAA and .903 save percentage in 28 games in 2013-14.
Apr 17 - 10:01 AM

Ray Emery will play in Game 1 of Philadelphia's series against the New York Rangers.

Steve Mason is dealing with an upper-body injury, so the Flyers need Emery to step up in his absence. Emery is certainly capable of doing that, but he struggled in the regular season with a 2.96 GAA and .903 save percentage in 28 games.
Apr 16 - 12:21 PM

Ray Emery will be between the pipes for the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

Emery came into the game Saturday at the start of the third period as Steve Mason was injured. While Mason is expected to be ready for the start of the playoffs which begin on Wednesday, Emery will take his 9-12-2 mark with a 2.96 GAA and a .903 save percentage into the finale against the Hurricanes.
Apr 13 - 8:26 AM

Ray Emery picked up a 4-3 overtime win over Pittsburgh on Saturday.

He came into the game in relief after Steve Mason exited due to injury. Emery stopped 12 of 14 shots in the match. Mason is expected to be OK for the playoffs.
