In addition to Dave Bolland, the Chicago Blackhawks anticipate that Ray Emery will be available whenever their second-round series starts up.

It's unlikely that Emery will see action in that Game 1 unless Corey Crawford suffers from an injury or an awful game, but it's always good to have a backup plan ... especially when the opponents are likely to put up more of a fight.
May 11 - 1:55 PM

Ray Emery (lower body) probably won't return Thursday.

Emery isn't expected to start when he's healthy unless Corey Crawford gets injured or falters. Given that neither of those things have happened yet, there's no reason for Chicago to rush Emery back.

May 9 - 8:56 AM

Ray Emery (lower body) was unable to play on Sunday.

Emery skated but did not dress as Corey Crawford was backed up in net by Henrik Karlsson. Emery could be back as early as Tuesday for Game 4 but will likely back up Crawford if he is healthy enough to dress.
May 6 - 7:10 AM

Ray Emery and Dave Bolland don't appear to be available for Game 3, but Game 4 remains a possibility.

Both players skated on Sunday. While they've been ruled out for today's game, the next Wild-Blackhawks skirmish could happen. Bolland's more likely to see action with Corey Crawford playing well, but Emery's impact could be larger considering the scarcity of goalies in the playoffs.
May 5 - 2:10 PM

Ray Emery (lower body) has been ruled out for Game 3 on Sunday.

Emery is skating, so it might not be long before he returns. He's not likely to get any playing time once he's healthy. Corey Crawford has been superb through two postseason games with a 1.32 GAA and .946 save percentage.
May 4 - 2:21 PM

Ray Emery was on the ice briefly Thursday, but he won't return from his lower-body injury in Game 2 Friday.

Coach Joel Quenneville said Emery "felt good" and that "it was good progress." It hasn't been decided yet if Emery will join the Blackhawks when they leave for Minnesota for Games 3 and 4.
May 2 - 2:51 PM

Coach Joel Quenneville is hopeful that Ray Emery (lower body) will be able to resume skating Thursday.

Emery may not be available for Game 2 Friday versus Minnesota, but he hasn't been completely ruled out yet either.
May 1 - 4:57 PM

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville says Ray Emery (lower body) could be back in time to travel to Minnesota for Game 3.

Emery has already been ruled out of Tuesday night's Game 1 and this essentially sidelines him for Game 2, as well. Unless Corey Crawford struggles again in the playoffs, Emery should remain a backup for most of the postseason.
Apr 30 - 12:39 PM

Ray Emery (lower body) will not be in uniform in Game 1 against Minnesota Tuesday night.

Coach Joel Quenneville called Emery's status day-to-day and he's hopeful that the Chicago goalie will be able to resume skating soon. He didn't participate in Monday's practice.
Apr 29 - 2:50 PM

Ray Emery (lower body) will not dress in either of Chicago's final two regular season games.

This might simply be a case of Chicago erring on the side of caution because there final two games are meaningless to them from a standings perspective. Emery will finish the season with a 17-1-0 record, 1.94 GAA, and .922 save percentage in 21 games.
Apr 26 - 12:39 PM

Ray Emery's lower body injury isn't believed to be serious, according to Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville.

Emery left Wednesday's game due to the problem. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Apr 25 - 9:37 AM

Ray Emery left Wednesday's eventual Chicago Blackhawks win with a lower-body injury and didn't return.

If it becomes a nagging issue, it makes Corey Crawford a much safer bet for playoff pools. Either way, Emery is the clear No. 2, even if he's a threatening one (when healthy).
Apr 25 - 12:34 AM

Ray Emery will be in goal for Chicago Wednesday versus Edmonton.

He hasn't played since April 15 because of a lower-body injury, but dressed in Monday's game against Vancouver. Emery has been great this year while sharing starts with Corey Crawford.
Apr 24 - 5:01 PM

Ray Emery (lower body) is healthy enough to backup Corey Crawford on Monday.

Emery has been outstanding this season with a 16-1-0 record, 1.91 GAA, and .923 save percentage in 20 games. He'll probably get at least one more start before the playoffs.
