Ray Emery, and not Steve Mason, will be Michal Neuvirth's backup in Sunday's season finale with the Islanders.
A nice tough by the Flyers who are locked into the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. The 33-year-old veteran hasn't seen NHL ice in a year. We wouldn't expect him to, but it would be a nice trip down memory lane. Apr 10 - 6:35 PM

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed Ray Emery for the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign.

Emery had been on their roster on a tryout basis. He played overseas earlier in the campaign - for Mannheim Eagles of the German league specifically - so the Flyers had to put him on waivers after signing him. It's also worth noting that Emery isn't eligible to participate in playoff contests even though he can work for the Flyers for the remainder of the regular season.

Ray Emery will join the Philadelphia Flyers on a tryout basis.

He would not be eligible to appear in the playoffs, but can play before that if he is called upon. Emery has played for the Ontario Reign and Toronto Marlies in the AHL this season. He had been skating with Adler Mannheim in the DEL.
Mar 29 - 6:10 PM

Ray Emery has been released from his professional tryout offer with the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

Emery had a 2.69 GAA and .897 save percentage in three games with the Marlies. We'll have to see what's next for the 33-year-old goalie, but obviously we're not expecting him to play in the NHL this season.

The Toronto Marlies have inked Ray Emery to a professional tryout offer.

The Maple Leafs are missing James Reimer and Garret Sparks due to injuries and that's of course trickled to the AHL-affiliated Marlies. Emery is a veteran of 287 NHL games and might still be capable of being a solid backup goaltender in the NHL if Toronto's goaltending situation gets any worse.

Goaltender Ray Emery has signed a professional tryout with the Ontario Reign of the AHL.

The Reign are the farm team of the Los Angeles Kings and they just had Peter Budaj assigned to them by LA. The former Flyers netminder was released from a PTO by Tampa Bay during training camp. He will try and catch on with the Reign.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have released Ray Emery from his professional tryout.

The news is hardly surprising considering the fact that the Lightning picked up Kevin Poulin on waivers from the Islanders earlier in the day. It will be hard for Emery to latch on with another team considering he had to settle for a pro tryout in the first place.

Ray Emery is in a heated battle with Kristers Gudlevskis for the Lightning's backup job.

Andrei Vasilevskiy was supposed to be Ben Bishop's backup goaltender heading into this season, but a blood clot will keep him out for the first few months of the regular season. Emery doesn't have a contract so he'll have to be overly impressive to earn the job, but he's just taking the preseason games as they come. "You can’t control (how the preseason games go)," Emery said. "But even if you don’t get a lot of shots, if you feel good and kind of get a decent result ... confidence goes a long way, too, besides the action, just feeling comfortable and having something to build off of. I got to ease my way into it and was able to gain some confidence from it, so the next time, I’ll try to do a bit more with it and hopefully feel better." Gudlevskis should be considered the slight favorite in this battle. Even if Emery does crack the Bolts roster, he won't be worth owning in fantasy leagues.

Ray Emery isn't happy with how his 2014-15 performance unfolded, but he believes he has plenty left to give.

"I feel good. Last year, I was disappointed in it, but I don't think it was a result of me 'being done' or anything," said Emery, who will attend Tampa Bay's training camp on a professional tryout. "I just think it was a tough year for the team." He posted a 10-11-7 record with a 3.06 goals-against average and an .894 save percentage in 31 appearances with Philadelphia. If he impresses at training camp then he could earn a contract to start the year as the Lightning's backup netminder.

Ray Emery will attend Tampa Bay's training camp on a professional tryout.

The Lightning were expected to give a veteran goalie a tryout with Andrei Vasilevskiy slated to miss the next two-to-three months after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot near his collarbone. Emery will compete with Kristers Gudlevskis for the backup job to start the season.

Ray Emery is slated to become a UFA on July 1 but the Flyers could still be interested in his services.

GM Ron Hextall will peruse the free agent market to see if there is a better netminder for the team but Emery will be a fall back position for Philadelphia if nothing is deemed to be better. Emery was 10-11-7 last season with a 3.06 GAA and a .894 save percentage after a 9-12-2 season in 2013-14 with a 2.96 GAA and a .903 save percentage.

Ray Emery allowed two goals on 26 shots in the Flyers' 3-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night.

Emery falls to 10-11-7 on the season with a 3.06 goals against average and .894 save percentage. It was not a pretty end to the year, as Emery lost five straight (four in overtime) down the stretch.

Ray Emery will get the start in Thursday's game against Carolina.

The 32-year-old has a 10-10-7 record with a 3.10 goals-against-average and a 893 save percentage in 30 games this season. It's safe to say he is no longer a starting caliber goaltender in the NHL. Emery has dropped his last four starts in overtime or a shootout.

The Philadelphia Flyers fell 3-2 via a shootout to the Carolina Hurricanes, continuing a frustrating run for Ray Emery.

Emery has now dropped four straight decisions beyond regulation despite allowing two goals or less in three of those games (with one five-goal struggle against Edmonton). He's also lost five in a row and seven of eight overall.
