Stephen Weiss and Dan Cleary will watch Tuesday night's game against Arizona from the press box.

This will be Weiss' fifth straight game as a healthy scratch, and with seven goals and 19 points over 42 games this season, it's easy to see why he's in Coach Babcock's doghouse.

Stephen Weiss, Dan Cleary and Jakub Kindl will watch Sunday afternoon's game against St. Louis from the press box.

The Wings thought that Weiss would give them a solid option down the middle when they brought him in but injuries have really slowed his career down. The 31-year-old has been a healthy scratch in five of his team's last six games.
Mar 22 - 12:08 PM

Stephen Weiss, Daniel Cleary, Jakub Kindl will each be scratched against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night, it will be their second straight in the seats as a trio.

Kindl has produced just 11 points, 20 PIMs, 24 blocks, and 28 hits through 33 games. Cleary has three points and 17 hits to his credit through 13 games. And Weiss, who at least has some fantasy value, has accumulated seven goals and 19 points through another injury-riddled season of just 42 games.

Stephen Weiss, Daniel Cleary, Jakub Kindl will each be scratched against the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.

Of the three, only Weiss has a modicum of fantasy value. He's accumulated seven goals and 19 points through another injury-riddled season of just 42 games.
Mar 19 - 7:22 PM

Stephen Weiss was a healthy scratch for Sunday's win over Pittsburgh.

He's been in and out of the lineup of late. Tomas Jurco was back in the fold versus the Penguins. Weiss has registered seven goals and 12 assists in 42 games this campaign.
Mar 16 - 10:22 AM

The Detroit Red Wings are going back to Stephen Weiss in the lineup for Tomas Jurco on Saturday.

Weiss has been one of the league's most expensive healthy scratches on and off lately, but he'll draw back into the lineup today. Daniel Cleary sits on the sidelines with Jurco on Saturday.
Mar 14 - 12:39 PM

Stephen Weiss is a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against Columbus.

Weiss has now been scratched in back-to-back games for the Wings. Dan Cleary and Jakub Kindl will also watch the game from the press box.
Mar 12 - 7:13 PM

Stephen Weiss will come out of the Wings lineup Monday night against the Edmonton Oilers.

Head coach Mike Babcock will adjust his lineup Monday night and insert Tomas Jurco to try and give his a team a boost. Weiss had been skating with the fourth line but seeing first power-play minutes. Unfortunately, it has not worked out resulting in a goal and an assist in his last 16 games. On the season, he has seven goals and 19 points in 41 games played.
Mar 9 - 5:37 PM

It looks as if Detroit coach Mike Babcock will continue to play Stephen Weiss on the team's first power-play unit at the expense of Pavel Datsyuk.

It's not as a result of Datsyuk playing poorly. It's quite the opposite. Datsyuk is needed to create on the second unit. That said, it's a boost to Weiss' fantasy value and negatively impacts on Datsyuk's. When healthy, Weiss is a pretty good hockey and fantasy asset.
Feb 14 - 10:41 AM

Detroit Red Wings center Stephen Weiss ruined a shutout bid by Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in Pittsburgh Wednesday night.

The Pens were up 4-0 at 7:52 of the second period when Weiss tipped in a goal at 13:26 of the second. There was no scoring in the third period. The goal for Weiss was his seventh of the season. Assists went to Henrik Zetterberg (33rd) and Niklas Kronwall (25th).
Feb 11 - 10:30 PM

Stephen Weiss is getting first power-play ice time.

The Wings seem to be going with the following power-play units: Weiss, Henrik Zetterberg, Gustav Nyquist, Justin Abdelkader and Niklas Kronwall on the first team with Pavel Datsyuk, Tomas Tater, Tomas Jurco, Darren Helm and Danny DeKeyser on the second unit. Obviously Weiss and Abdelkader are the winners here. Can't imagine this is entirely good for Datsyuk being separated from Zetterberg, though.
Feb 7 - 10:15 AM

Stephen Weiss scored a goal and added two assists for the Red Wings in a 5-4 victory over Florida Tuesday night.

Weiss has very quietly been productive in limited action this season, having amassed 17 points in 25 contests. He's worth a look in very deep formats. Luke Glendening notched a pair of goals in the winning effort while Drew Miller and Henrik Zetterberg also found the back of the net.
Jan 28 - 12:50 AM

Stephen Weiss has produced one goal and one assist in his past 13 games.

"It's not something I think about at all," Weiss said before Thursday's win over the St. Louis Blues. "I've been feeling really good and I'm just happy to be consistently in the lineup, it's a nice change. I'm not too worried about the offensive stuff. That will come. It always has. I'm more focused on helping the team win." He hasn't been registering many shots and his offense has dried up after he returned with a vengeance in late November.
Jan 16 - 10:35 AM

Stephen Weiss will play on Detroit's top line on Tuesday.

Weiss had been bumped down to the fourth line because he was struggling offensively. He'll play alongside Darren Helm and Pavel Datsyuk. Moving him to the top line has triggered a noteworthy remake of the Red Wings' scoring lines as Datsyuk had previously been playing with Henrik Zetterberg and Justin Abdelkader. Zetterberg and Abdelkader will stay together though and be joined by Gustav Nyquist. The big loser in all of this is Johan Franzen, who has lost his top-six spot to make room for Weiss.
