Stephen Weiss (shoulder) didn't skate Monday.

He missed Saturday's game because of a shoulder injury and he's been placed on injured reserve, according to the Red Wings' website. Weiss has 10 points in 11 games this season.
Dec 16 - 8:36 AM

Stephen Weiss suffered a shoulder injury in the first period of Friday's contest against Florida.

Coach Babcock says that Weiss is "out", while GM Ken Holland quoted the doctors in saying that he'll be able to go in Toronto on Saturday if Weiss says he's okay. Yes, that's conflicting information, so it's the waiting game until we have more intel. Anticipate knowing sooner rather than later.
Dec 12 - 11:35 PM

Stephen Weiss has left Friday's games against Florida with an upper body injury.

No details of the injury have been released just yet, but we'll keep you posted. Weiss skated just 6:52 before leaving. He had four goals and ten points in his nine games leading into the night.
Dec 12 - 9:44 PM

Stephen Weiss, who did not practice Friday as he was attending a funeral, will be in the Detroit lineup Saturday night against the Rangers.

That's very good news for the Red Wings and Weiss owners as the talented forward has been white hot as of late with nine points in his last six games playing alongside Pavel Datsyuk. Make sure Weiss is active Saturday evening.
Dec 6 - 9:21 AM

Stephen Weiss didn't miss Friday's practice due to groin problems, but because of a personal issue, according to Red Wings GM Ken Holland.

Weiss was a game-time decision on Thursday, but he went on to record three points in that contest. It seems reasonable to pencil him in for Saturday's game at this time.
Dec 5 - 1:19 PM

Stephen Weiss wasn't on the ice for Friday's practice due to a groin injury.

Weiss was a game-time decision on Thursday, but he ended up recording three points in that contest. With that in mind, it's entirely possible that he's just taking a maintenance day to manage the injury he's playing through. Still, this is worth keeping in the back of your mind.
Dec 5 - 12:19 PM

Stephen Weiss turned in another three points in Detroit's win over Dallas on Thursday night, raising his output to nine points in seven games.

Weiss has now exceeded his output from his injury plagued past two seasons. The 31 year-old is healthy and thriving for the first time as a Red Wing, and is definitely worth a pick up in case he rediscovers his 60-point touch.
Dec 4 - 11:49 PM

Stephen Weiss has been on fire since he returned from injury and a conditioning stint in the minors.

In his last three games playing alongside Pavel Datsyuk and Darren Helm, Weiss has scored three goals and registered five points. Weiss has always had the talent to be a productive NHL and fantasy player. His problem has been that he hasn't been able to stay healthy. We would pick up Weiss and enjoy the hot streak as long as it lasts. Once he re-injures himself we would advise you drop him.
Nov 29 - 9:33 AM

Stephen Weiss generated a goal and an assist in Detroit's 5-2 win over Philadelphia on Wednesday.

He has racked up four points in two games since returning to the lineup. The all-center line of Weiss, Pavel Datsyuk and Darren Helm was responsible for three goals, including two from Datsyuk, and six points in the match. "Pavel looked good. And Helmer gives those guys good legs," coach Mike Babcock said. "I thought Weiss went to the net, again. And, you know, you've got to give him credit. Holy cow, he's got three goals here, so that's good for us." Still, Babcock wouldn't commit to keeping the trio together.
Nov 27 - 10:23 AM

Forward Stephen Weiss snapped a goal drought of more than a year with two in the Red Wings' 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators in Detroit Monday night.

Weiss suited up for the Wings for only the second time this season. He had been out with a groin injury and most recently played a couple of games with Grand Rapids of the AHL for some conditioning. He was on the left wing against Ottawa, on a line with Darren Helm and Tomas Jurco, instead of his usual center spot. Chances are he'll be kept at left wing now. Weiss's first goal Monday was his first since Oct. 14, 2013. His second goal gave him his first two-goal game since Feb. 26, 2012. Also scoring for the Wings Monday were Gustav Nyquist and Riley Sheahan, both on power plays. It was their 10th and fourth goals of the season, respectively.
Nov 24 - 10:58 PM

Stephen Weiss will suit up for Detroit on Monday night after playing a couple of games with Grand Rapids during a conditioning stint.

He'll start on the left wing alongside Darren Helm and Tomas Jurco. "It's completely different," Weiss said. "I played center the last two games (with Grand Rapids) and I got wing tonight so I'll have to be on my toes." It will be Weiss' second appearance of the season.

Nov 24 - 4:48 PM

The Detroit Red Wings have recalled Stephen Weiss from his rehab assignment.

Weiss scored two goals in two games in the AHL this weekend. The 31-year-old has played only one game this season. He will probably slot behind Henrik Zetterberg and Riley Sheahan at center for Detroit. His fantasy upside is limited because he is a huge injury risk.
Nov 23 - 4:35 PM

Stephen Weiss is slated to play for Grand Rapids of the AHL in a two-game conditioning stint.

He hopes to play Friday and Saturday before rejoining Detroit for Monday's game against the Ottawa Senators. "I don't know whether I'll be playing, that's up to Babs, obviously," Weiss said. "The plan is to go and get my feet wet, play a lot of minutes and then come back and be available to play whenever." Weiss hasn't played with the Wings since Oct. 18 because of a troublesome groin problem. Detroit placed Andrej Nestrasil on waivers on Wednesday to get Weiss off injured reserve.
Nov 20 - 9:18 AM

Stephen Weiss (groin) is projected to play for Grand Rapids on Friday.

The last time Weiss went to the AHL for conditioning he ended up leaving a game because of a groin injury. He has made just one appearance in the lineup this season with the Red Wings.
