Vernon Fiddler will play his 700th career game Tuesday night against Boston.

Now in his 12th season, the undrafted Edmonton, AB native has put together a fine career as a bottom-six center. Fiddler has scored 82 goals and 220 points while playing for Nashville, Phoenix, and is now in his fourth season with Dallas.
Jan 20 - 8:24 PM

The Dallas Stars will have Vernon Fiddler (lower body) back in their lineup vs. Washington on Saturday.

Fiddler missed Dallas' last two games because of the injury. He is a useful NHL player, but he plays more of a bottom-six role for the Stars. The 34-year-old has four goals and 13 points in 41 games.
Jan 17 - 2:55 PM

Coach Lindy Ruff said that Vernon Fiddler will be available to play Thursday.

He skated out on the ice late in the morning after missing Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury. However, he still may be scratched against Winnipeg.
Jan 15 - 2:37 PM

Vernon Fiddler is expected to sit out against Ottawa on Tuesday night.

He has four goals and 13 points, 20 PIMs, 22 hits, 30 blocks, and has won over 53% of his faceoffs in 41 contests in 2014-15.
Jan 13 - 8:18 PM

Vernon Fiddler has sustained a lower-body injury.

Fiddler missed Monday's practice as a result and might not play on Tuesday. He has four goals and 13 points in 41 contests in 2014-15.
Jan 12 - 2:22 PM

Vernon Fiddler scored two goals in Saturday's 7-1 win over Minnesota.

Fiddler only had two goals on the season coming into this game, so the production was unexpected. The 34-year-old still doesn't have any fantasy relevance in standard leagues. He has four goals and 12 points in 37 games this season.
Jan 4 - 11:57 AM

Vernon Fiddler has no goals and two assists in his last 14 games.

Fiddler has played in 689 games, but he's never been much of an offensive threat and that's not expected to change. He's one of the Stars' better options on the draw though with 259 wins in 481 attempts (53.8%).

Vernon Fiddler got the only goal for the Stars, who fell 4-1 to the Wild on Saturday night.

The veteran center now has two goals and an assist on the year. A solid depth player and nothing more, Fiddler isn’t close to being on fantasy radars. Jamie Oleksiak assisted on the goal. Jamie Benn ended the game with a team-high six shots on goal.

Vern Fiddler and Erik Cole did not practice on Friday.

It is not clear if either is injured or was just getting a maintenance day off but it is interesting that Curtis McKenzie was recalled from Texas of the AHL as insurance.

Vernon Fiddler chose to re-sign with the Dallas Stars because he likes the direction of the team.

"Honestly, I had better offers. But I wanted to stay with this team and finish the job," Fiddler said. "There is a real attraction to playing here and playing to win, and seeing this through. I think this is going to be a really good team, and I want to be a part of that." In addition to Fiddler, the Stars signed Ales Hemsky, Patrick Eaves and goalie Anders Lindback. The team also acquired Jason Spezza from the Ottawa Senators. Fiddler requested a trade last year because he wanted more ice time, but he stayed the with the club and "everything took care of itself." He'll make $1 million next season and $1.5 million in 2015-16, while continuing to serve as a bottom-six forward.

Vernon Fiddler has inked a two-year contract extension with the Dallas Stars.

Fiddler tested the unrestricted free agent market, but ultimately decided to rejoin his former squad. He had six goals and 23 points in 76 games last season. The Stars bolstered their top two lines by adding Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky, but Fiddler will serve as a valuable depth player as the team sets its sights on making a long playoff run.

Vernon Fiddler is expected to test the market on July 1 after he rejected a contract offer from the Stars.

He generated six goals and 17 assists in 76 games in 2013-14. Fiddler plays a strong defensive game and he could attract interest as a depth player on the open market.

It's unclear if Vernon Fiddler will be back with the Dallas Stars next season.

He can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer and could decide to test the market. Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News described his situation well when he said: "The Stars have to make room for the kids, but will likely use the safety net of one-year deals to protect them next season. If Fiddler wants to sign a one-year deal, I can almost guarantee he will be back. If I'm his agent, I tell him to test the market and look for something more than that." Fiddler had six goals and 17 assists in 76 games this past season.

Vernon Fiddler scored his first goal of the postseason in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Anaheim.

He had a solid fantasy outing with an assist, three shots and a 10-minute misconduct late in the third period. That's an eventful game for a player who played just 13:30 of ice time.
