Jim Slater got his first goal of the season in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues.
He gave the Jets a 2-1 lead at the time, but the Blues tied it before the end of the second period and then won the game in the third. Just an FYI as Slater shouldn't be on your fantasy radar. Nov 24 - 10:10 AM

Jim Slater played in his second game of the preseason on Tuesday.

He opened the scoring in the contest in a 2-1 victory over Ottawa. Slater played his first game since off-season hip surgery on Saturday and he's still shaking off some rust. "You put in a lot of time to get in shape and you play that first game and you feel like you didn't do anything all summer," he said. "It comes back, just a little slower than you'd like. But that's why you have these preseason games. Obviously we're running a new system, and we're trying to get that down so it's comes natural." Slater was limited to just 27 games last season.
Oct 1 - 9:55 AM

Jim Slater took part in another full day of training camp on Tuesday.

"I'm feeling better than I was for sure," said Slater, who missed 55 games last season due to injury. "There were some dark days in the summer for sure. Just going through that rehab, this thing, I've put a lot of time and effort into getting this thing back." He hasn't been cleared to play in the preseason yet after he had hip labrum surgery at the end of May. However, he appears to be very close and coach Paul Maurice believes Slater will be available for Saturday's match against Minnesota.

Slater should be fine by the start of training camp. He had a goal and an assist in 27 games in 2013-14.
May 30 - 12:56 PM

Jim Slater left Friday's 5-3 win over Calgary with an undisclosed injury.

Slater will not be available on Wednesday as a result. He has an assist in 16 games this season.
Mar 19 - 3:24 PM

Jim Slater doesn't think he should've been penalized for his tripping play against Vancouver's Ryan Kesler.

"I didn't like it," he said. "But when someone goes down in a collision like that I'm glad it was just a two for tripping and it wasn't anything more. I'm not a player like that. I hope he's all right." He contends that he led with his leg and Kesler tried to get out of being hit at the last second. Kesler was injured on the play and Slater got two minutes in the box.

Jim Slater (groin) will suit up for Winnipeg on Thursday.

He has been sidelined Oct. 18, but he's ready to return after recovering from sports hernia surgery. The Jets are the league's worst faceoff team, so Slater's return should help a little in that category.
Feb 27 - 4:24 PM

Jim Slater (groin) has been cleared to return, but he isn't guaranteed to play Thursday night.

He has been out of action since October following sports hernia surgery. Coach Paul Maurice liked the way the Jets were playing before the Olympic break, so it might be tough for Slater to crack the team's lineup. He has skated in only eight games this year.

Jim Slater was a full participant at practice on Wednesday and he feels he's ready to play again.

"I feel good. I don't have any soreness or pain anymore," he said. "And I feel like I've put in the time and the effort to get this thing strong and ready for the last little bit here and hopefully the playoffs." Slater has been limited to eight games this season and he hasn't played since Oct. 18.
Feb 20 - 10:36 AM
