Christopher Higgins will have an MRI on his right knee now that Vancouver's season is done.
He strained it late in season and it's preventing him from playing for Team USA at the world championship. Higgins missed six games with a knee ailment, but he returned for the final three contests of the regular season and he played in the club's four postseason matches. May 9 - 5:01 PM

Date:

Christopher Higgins (knee) returned to action on Monday.

Higgins played alongside Derek Roy and Ryan Kesler and was held off the scoresheet in 14:37 minutes. Higgins return is good news for the Canucks as he gives them another top six player who can play well as a bottom six forward if need be. He is worth selecting in playoff pools in the middle rounds if you're confident the Canucks are going at least a couple of rounds.
Apr 23 - 2:27 AM

Christopher Higgins could return to the lineup Monday after missing six games with a knee injury.

If Higgins does draw back into the lineup, he'll line up on the third line with Jannik Hansen and Derek Roy. The Canucks will have lots of firepower heading into the playoffs if all hands on deck are healthy and should not be overlooked in playoff pools.
Apr 22 - 10:37 AM

Christopher Higgins (knee) has resume skating.

He might be ready to play in the first round of the playoffs. He has been sidelined since April 8 with a knee injury, but it's starting to look like he won't play before the end of the regular season.
Apr 18 - 5:16 PM

The Canucks received some good news on Chris Higgins' knee injury and now it appears as though he could return before the end of the regular season.

Depending on how his rehab goes from a mild strain, he may be back in a couple of weeks.
Apr 11 - 3:11 PM

Christopher Higgins has a lower-body injury and is sidelined indefinitely.

Higgins recently signed a four-year extension with the Canucks despite minimal offensive production, which is a sign of how useful he is as a depth forward for Vancouver. His absence shouldn't affect your fantasy lineups, though.
Apr 9 - 3:37 PM

Vancouver Canucks sign Christopher Higgins to four-year contract extension.

The deal is reportedly worth $2.5 million per season. While Higgins certainly isn't relevant to fantasy owners anymore, he is a solid depth piece for the Canucks. If he somehow ends up on the top line with the Sedins or with newly acquired Derek Roy, it's possible Higgins could merit some spot-start or deep league consideration.
Apr 2 - 3:30 PM

Christopher Higgins scored his ninth goal of the season and added an assist in the Canucks 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

Higgins days as a fantasy relevant player have been over since his last season in 2007-08, but he has been solid piece for the Canucks. He is a player that is much better in real life than in fantasy. He can line up in the top six because of his speed, work ethic and solid shot, but he is much better suited as a third liner. He has had moments on the top line with the Sedin's, so keep your eye on him if you need a possible plug-and-play in match-up formats.
Apr 2 - 1:41 AM

Christopher Higgins played on the top line Sunday with the Sedin twins.

The Canucks have been shuffling their lines around and Higgins is the latest to play with Daniel and Henrik Sedin. Higgins played 20:25 minutes and was minus-one. He has seven goals and 11 points in 31 games with a minus-seven rating. That being said, he is worth picking up if he remains on the top line.
Mar 25 - 9:53 AM

Christopher Higgins (back) returned to the Vancouver Canucks' lineup on Saturday.

Higgins missed Thursday's contest due to the ailment. He has seven goals and 11 points in 29 games this season.
Mar 23 - 4:08 PM

Christopher Higgins will probably miss Thursday night's game against Phoenix after tweaking something in his back.

"He tweaked his back so at this time I don't think he's going to play," coach Alain Vigneault said. "He just walked out, took two shots and walked off." Higgins was on the ice for the start of Thursday morning's skate, but left soon afterward.
Mar 21 - 4:52 PM

Christopher Higgins scored a goal in Vancouver's 4-2 loss Sunday.

Higgins has heated up lately with four goals and five points in seven games. He's not the most consistent of players, but the flip side of that is he's worth owning when he's hot. All the same, we can't get too excited about him as he'll likely end up with around 25 points in 2013.
Mar 11 - 10:09 AM

Christopher Higgins does not have a point in six games this season.

Higgins did not play overseas during the lockout and his lack of ice time is likely hurting his cause at this time. "Without any exhibition games, players usually have a significant number of games under their belts and they don't cost you any points in the standings," GM Mike Gillis said. "Chris is like many other players. Some have hit the ground running for whatever reason and some are having slower starts. I think the most important thing is that we get through this segment and not have many injuries and get ready for game 10 and onward." If he is on your roster, reserve him for now.
Jan 29 - 11:41 AM

Christopher Higgins could be the Canucks answer to who will center the second line.

The Canucks are actually hoping that Ryan Kesler recovers well enough and quickly enough from off-season shoulder and wrist surgery but in case he doesn't, Higgins could be the man down the middle. Higgins played some center as a member of the Montreal Canadiens but has played on the left side in Vancouver. "It's was kind of an on-and-off thing and my first couple of years [in Montreal] I played more center," he recalled. "I'm obviously more comfortable playing the wing. Playing center as not a long-term thing, I know I can play the position and I know I can play it well. I could definitely fill in and I'm all for it if it's what's needed. It would take a little bit of a learning process, but I could pick it up pretty quickly."

Chris Higgins doesn't plan to sign with a European club in the near future.

"No, I am not looking for a place to play," Higgins said. "I don't think I could live with myself if I got hurt over there, God forbid. I'd rather be a little out of game shape than be coming back hurt. So that's how I kind of look at it. I hope for the best for the players already over there." Higgins had 18 goals and 43 points in 71 games this season.
