Upshall suffered a sprained MCL on Mar. 3 and was supposed to be out four weeks, but he was back on the ice Wednesday morning. "He's getting close," coach Mike Yeo said. That's good news."

Scottie Upshall scored a goal during the Blues' 6-1 win over Detroit on Saturday.

Upshall has five goals and 12 points in 31 contests this season. That's a pretty solid showing for the 34-year-old, especially after he went through the summer without securing a contract. The Blues signed him on Oct. 1 in part because Robby Fabbri (knee) isn't healthy enough to play this season.

Scottie Upshall feels right back at home now that he's signed with St. Louis.

Upshall went unsigned over the summer and ended up attending Vancouver's training camp on a tryout basis. The Blues have dealt with more than their fair share of injuries already though, which led to them signing Upshall for a third straight season with the club. "It’s just nice to be back in this room with these guys," Upshall said. "Nothing’s changed. Our focus and attention to detail is the same as it was last year, and we’ve just got to keep building on it." Upshall's expected to serve in a bottom-six role though, so his fantasy value will be very limited. He logged 10:09 minutes in his season debut on Wednesday.
