Jordin Tootoo will be sidelined at least another week with an upper body injury.

Tootoo hasn't played since March 10th, but he's posted nine points with 99 hits and 102 PIMs in 66 games this season. The Devils play three games over the next seven days, finishing in Carolina next Sunday.

Jordin Tootoo (upper body) is not participating in the Devils' Wednesday morning skate.

Tootoo has missed New Jersey's last two contests. His absence on Wednesday casts doubt on his ability to return on Thursday, but he still might end up playing.
Mar 16 - 11:18 AM

Jordin Tootoo is sidelined with upper body injury, and won't play Saturday against LA.

This is unfortunate news for all reverse leaguers as Tootoo has been excellent in formats that reward his talents. Through 66 games he's posted 99 hits and 102 PIMs, along with nine points of course.
Mar 12 - 2:47 PM

Jordin Tootoo won't be suspended for his hit on Isles defenseman Johnny Boychuk.

Tootoo was tossed from Friday's game after he hit Boychuk from behind. Boychuk was slow to get up, but he was able to return to the game in the third period.
Feb 20 - 2:11 PM

Jordin Tootoo had 15 minutes in penalties Friday.

Tootoo was thrown out of the game for a crosscheck from behind into the boards on the Islanders Johnny Boychuk. Boychuk was frustrated leaving the ice as he slammed his stick into the boards but he did return for the third stanza and he and Tootoo were seen talking after the game. Tootoo has four goals and nine points in 57 games with 91 penalty minutes. His minus-21 rating really hurts his limited fantasy value.

Jordin Tootoo will have a sizable audience of friends and family to see him play during Saturday's game in Winnipeg.

Tootoo, who was born in Churchill, Manitoba, had a large group of people come to see him play in Winnipeg last season too, but he was a healthy scratch for that game. "I felt terrible," Tootoo said. "A lot of them are working to save up for a trip to come down and see me. They wait all year for that moment. Last year was unfortunate. There were a lot of disappointed people. This year is a new year and, hopefully, everything works out." This time around Tootoo has played in 46 of the Devils' 48 games and is expected to be in the lineup again on Saturday. There should be around 100 people in that crowd rooting for him.
Jan 23 - 5:37 AM

Jordin Tootoo will be back in the Devils' lineup on Saturday.

Tootoo was hurt when he fought Ryan Reaves on Wednesday and missed Thursday's contest as a result. He revealed that he was dealing with sinus problems, but didn't have a concussion.
Jan 15 - 6:25 PM

Jordin Tootoo (undisclosed) will miss Thursday's game against Colorado.

Jan 14 - 3:19 PM

Jordin Tootoo has been handed a $2,000 fine for embellishment.

Tootoo received a warning over an incident on Oct. 18 and received a second citation on Jan. 4. The way embellishment fines work is that you're merely warned for the first incident and then you start receiving increasing fines for every subsequent infraction up to a maximum of $5,000 per for the fifth incident onward.
Jan 14 - 1:34 PM

Jordin Tootoo might have suffered an injury as a result of his third period fight against Ryan Reaves.

Tootoo was knocked to the ice by Reaves and needed a moment before he skated off the ice following the bout. He didn't return to the game or speak to the media afterwards. The Devils said that Tootoo will be evaluated on Wednesday.
Jan 13 - 7:00 AM

Jordin Tootoo played on Saturday despite getting hit in the jaw Friday during practice.

The tough winger managed an assist. "That's what hockey players do," said Tootoo. "We battle through injuries and whatever. Like my father always said, 'If you're hurt, get back out there. If you're injured, get the [heck] off the ice.' " Tootoo has three goals and eight points in 38 games with 59 penalty minutes. Unfortunately he is also a minus-16 and that takes away from his fantasy value.
Jan 3 - 9:55 AM

Jordin Tootoo will tag in for Patrik Elias in Boston on Sunday.

Tootoo will never win a scoring-related award, but his 55 hits and 57 PIMs over 32 games this season can help him find a home on many a fantasy squad where his skill set is rewarded.
Sun, Dec 20, 2015 03:05:00 PM

Jordin Tootoo, Stefan Matteau, and Eric Gelinas will each be scratched from Saturday's match with Anaheim.

Of the three only Tootoo has produced any fantasy value with 55 hits and 57 PIMs over 32 games this season. So if you're ever looking for a tough guy plug, Tootoo is, as I'm sure you would have guessed, can fit the bill quite nicely.

Jordin Tootoo said Vancouver forward Alex Burrows made some "unacceptable" comments about him and his family on Sunday.

"Burrows when we were in the penalty box, he said some personal remarks regarding my family and it's just unacceptable," Tootoo said. "The penalty box guys even rolled their eyes like. 'Is this guy really saying this (expletive)?' I don't have any respect for him. I don't need an apology for him or nothing. It's just classless. We're all professionals and everyone fights a fight no one knows about and when you dive into personal issues, it's just classless. To me, that's cowardly." Tootoo tried to fight Burrows later in the game, but the Canucks winger declined. He ended up fighting Derek Dorsett instead and received a misconduct infraction on the play.
