Aaron Johnson has signed one-year, $600,000 contract with the New York Rangers.

He served as a depth defender on the Boston Bruins this past season and suited up in just 10 games. Johnson will probably occupy the same spot on the Rangers.

Aaron Johnson will fill in for injured defenseman Adam McQuaid on Boston's blueline.

The Bruins may try to get something done on the trade market to patch up their injured ranks as longer-term solution, but for now Johnson will return to the fold. He has skated in five games with Boston this season, while posting 10 hits, four penalty minutes and no points.

Aaron Johnson went to Providence on Monday for a conditioning stint, but found out that he was not allowed a second rehab assignment later in the day.

He had already gone down at the start of the season, so he'll have to wait for his next opportunity to play in Boston's lineup. "It's not too bad. It's a great group of guys, we're doing a lot of drills in game situations with (assistant coach Doug Houda)," said Johnson. "This is all part of my situation and it's all kind of what I signed up for and I'm ready to do whatever it takes. If it means waiting a month until I get to play, it's OK. It's just up to me to stay ready." He has a one-year, two-way deal with the Bruins and would have to clear waivers to be sent down to AHL Providence.

Aaron Johnson has played well the past two games while filling for Adam McQuaid.

McQuaid will be available to play against Buffalo Thursday after he missed games on Monday and Tuesday due to the passing of his grandmother. There's a chance that Johnson could play again on Thursday, but if McQuaid is mentally prepared to play then we think he'll probably get the nod. Johnson also played two contests this campaign, while Dennis Seidenberg recovered from a lower-body injury.

Aaron Johnson has played the last two games for the Boston Bruins in the place of injured defenseman Dennis Seidenberg.

In his first two appearances in a Bruins' uniform, Johnson has logged nearly 14 minutes of ice time, while picking up three shots, three hits and two blocks. When Seidenberg is able to return, Johnson will probably return to the press box.

Aaron Johnson has completed his AHL conditioning stint and has rejoined the Boston Bruins.

Johnson had an assist in two AHL contests. He's projected to serve as the Bruins' seventh defenseman for now.

Aaron Johnson doesn't have a lot of time to make his case for an opening night roster spot.

The journeyman defenseman signed a two-way contract with the Bruins this offseason, and he didn't play abroad, so he's coming in a bit cold. Even with Adam McQuaid's status uncertain after October surgery to remove a blood clot, the Bruins have other prospects who could make the club. I’m just trying to take it day-by-day. I did a good job of skating as much as possible in Dallas," said Johnson. "You just prepare as best as you can and hopefully go out and have a good camp."

Aaron Johnson has agreed to a one-year, two-way deal with the Boston Bruins.

He will make $650,000 if he spends the season in the NHL and $105,000 in the minors. He had 16 points and 26 penalty minutes in 56 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets last season. He'll compete for a third pairing spot during training camp.

Aaron Johnson led the way with eight of Blue Jackets 34 blocked shots on Saturday.

The Blue Jackets took on the Vancouver Canucks and took great pride Saturday with their shot blocking prowess. "It’s easy to tell, when you look at that stat, about the care and the want," Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said. "Because if it doesn’t mean anything to you then for the most part you’re getting out of the way. So we did a good job there, but that also shows we probably spent a little too much time in our zone."

Aaron Johnson had a minus-two rating in a 3-0 loss Wednesday night.

Johnson now has a minus-seven rating in 44 games this season. That's still not too bad, consider that he's playing for the Blue Jackets.

Blueliner Aaron Johnson played in Sunday's game as a fourth line forward.

It was Johnson's first game since Feb. 19. He has three goals and 13 points in 39 games this season.

Columbus defenceman Aaron Johnson has registered assists in three consecutive games.

We have never been all that high on Johnson but we certainly respect scoring streaks. If you need a d-man, add him for Saturday's game against the Sharks. Of course, drop him quickly as soon as his streak ends.

Aaron Johnson had a goal and an assist in Columbus’ 5-2 loss to Detroit on Friday.

Johnson scored his first goal of the season in the loss. He also assisted on Derick Brassard’s second goal of the season. Columbus looked outmatched in this game. They are still struggling to find chemistry, although the future looks bright.
