Marek Svatos has been released from his tryout with the Florida Panthers.

He wasn't able to make the cut after joining the team at training camp. Svatos hasn't played in the NHL since the 2010-11 campaign when he shared time between Nashville and Ottawa.

Marek Svatos has confirmed that he will take part in the Florida Panthers training camp.

Svatos will try to make the team after skipping the entire 2011-12 campaign. "I've struggled in the past with some injuries and that's why I took last year off," said Svatos. "I'm glad I'm here and I'm going to try my best right now. I'm healthy right now. I don't have much time to show off so it's going to be hard and physical." Even if he makes the team, Svatos shouldn't be counted on to have any fantasy value.

The Florida Panthers haven't confirmed or denied that Marek Svatos will be an attendee at training camp.

Florida spokesman Justin Copertino said the team has not offered camp invitations yet, but agent Rich Evans took to Twitter on Monday and announced that Svatos would be there with the Panthers. Any official announcement regarding the invite might be on hold until after the ratification process is completed and a start date for camps is set.

Marek Svatos suffered a concussion during Saturday's loss to the Maple Leafs and did not return.

Svatos suffered the injury after being hit by Toronto's Jay Rosehill in the first period. There's a good chance that we have seen the last of Svatos in an Ottawa uniform this season.

Marek Svatos scored two goals in the Senators' 5-4 shootout loss to Atlanta on Sunday.

Svatos has scored just three goals in 16 contests with the Sens so we wouldn't advise you to rush out and grab him in your league. Chris Neil and Erik Condra also found the back of the net in the losing effort.

Senators coach Cory Clouston has a history with newly acquired Marek Svatos.

The Senators claimed Svatos off waivers from Nashville on Thursday. "I was an assistant coach when we won the Memorial Cup (with the Kootenay Ice in 2002)," Clouston said. "I don’t know if I’ve ever coached a guy who loved to score more. Going back to his junior days, he would put 50 pucks on the ice in front of the net and put 49 under the crossbar. Just a very good set of hands." Svatos broke out with 32 goals and 50 points in 61 games in 2005-06, but he's never been able to build on his early success. Instead, he's battled injuries and slumps. Now that he's in Ottawa, he'll probably get a decent chance to prove that he's still a capable top-six forward. He's worth keeping an eye on, though we can't recommend picking him up at this time.

The Ottawa Senators have claimed Marek Svatos off waivers from the Nashville Predators.

It's been a busy year for Svatos after he started the 2010-11 season with Avangard Omsk in the KHL, where he had eight points in 19 games. He then agreed to terms with the St. Louis Blues, but was claimed off waivers by Nashville before he had a chance to play there. Svatos posted three points in nine contests with the Predators before finding himself on waivers Wednesday and being scooped up by the Senators on Thursday.

Svatos has a goal and three points in eight NHL games this season. He started the year in the KHL but has not found his game in the NHL as of yet. He is worth picking up in deep pools as he is capable of going on a hot scoring streak.

Marek Svatos missed his third straight game with a lower body injury.

Svatos has a goal and three points in seven games since returning from Europe in late December. He has little fantasy value but is capable of going on a hot streak. Grab him only a couple of games into the streak as he could score in 10 straight games but he is also the type of player who will get a point or two in 15.
