Boyd Gordon finally scored his first goal of the season on Wednesday.

Gordon has nine points in 33 games this season. He has no fantasy value in standard leagues.
Mar 28 - 9:40 AM

Boyd Gordon has yet to score this season.

Gordon is one of three NHLers who have played at least 28 games not to have scored, joining Tanner Glass and Jeff Halpern. Just an FYI since any of the three should not be on your fantasy team.
Mar 19 - 10:35 AM

Boyd Gordon returned to action on Wednesday January 23.

Jan 24 - 2:04 AM

Boyd Gordon (upper body) joined his teammates for practice on Thursday.

It was his first time on the ice with the Coyotes since training camp opened. He may be able to play in Saturday's opener against Dallas.
Jan 17 - 8:21 PM

Boyd Gordon's undisclosed injury is related to his upper body.

Gordon collided into teammate Kyle Chipchura last week and had to be helped off the ice. He skated on his own Tuesday.
Jan 16 - 10:02 AM

Boyd Gordon (undisclosed) skated in a yellow non-contact jersey on Sunday.

Gordon was injured a week ago when he collided with teammate Kyle Chipchura and had to be helped off the ice. "I think things went well in the tests this morning, so I think he's going to be fine," coach Dave Tippett said on Sunday. Gordon is not worth selecting in traditional fantasy pools this season although he is good on the face off draw.
Jan 14 - 10:39 AM

Center Boyd Gordon collided with center Kyle Chipchura early in a workout session for the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday.

The pair seemed to inadvertently run into each other as Gordon was turning and Chipchura was skating straight ahead. Gordon fell to the ice and had to be helped by teammates to the bench. He sat there for a few minutes before gingerly skating off the ice. Gordon’s status is unclear, and since the CBA is not official, the Coyotes can’t offer medical assistance. The team’s equipment staff is allowed to help out with the skates, and that’s how word of the injury floated back to general manager Don Maloney. "I know he was going to get looked at it, but I don’t know any more than that," Maloney said. If Gordon isn’t ready to go for camp, the Coyotes will recall an extra forward from their American Hockey League affiliate.

The Phoenix Coyotes have definitely been buying into the plans of coach Dave Tippett.

"It's just the makeup of our team," Tippett said. "We have jobs we expect them to do and guys kind of filter into those jobs or they earn those jobs. It's part of my job to put them in those situations so they can be successful. You get put in that role and if you stay there you usually earn it. It's just something that falls into place." It's really working on the penalty kill as Boyd Gordon and Lauri Korpikoski have starred during the man-disadvantage.

Although Mike Smith earned a shutout on Friday, it was Boyd Gordon who the Phoenix Coyotes recognized after the game as the player most critical to their win.

Gordon had no points or even shots on goal, but he was great defensively. He won 12 of 21 faceoff opportunities. Gordon was given a wrestling belt that the Coyotes award after games to the player most critical to their win. "Everyone's pretty excited when it's given away, and a guy who got it tonight deserved it," Shane Doan said. "He was great for us tonight. He's been unbelievable for us."

Boyd Gordon (lower body) played on Tuesday for the first time since December 23rd.

Gordon had a shot on goal and a hit in 12:06 minutes of playing time. He has three goals and 12 points in 36 games this season.

Boyd Gordon (lower body) skated on his own Friday and could return within a week.

Just an FYI as Gordon does not have a lot of fantasy value.

Boyd Gordon (lower body) isn't expected to play on Wednesday.

He didn't suit up in Monday's loss to Los Angeles either. Gordon has 12 points and a plus-7 rating in 35 games this season with Phoenix. He has also been great on faceoffs this year with a 56.4 winning percentage on 555 total draws.
Wed, Dec 28, 2011 03:39:00 PM

Boyd Gordon has been a big asset for the Phoenix Coyotes.

The center knows how to play a defensive style of hockey and the surprise has been his offensive output as he has three goals and 10 points in 20 games after getting only nine points in 60 games last season with the Washington Capitals. He is also a plus-nine so he actually has fantasy value in deep leagues. "It's one of those things where I've gotten a really good chance here," Gordon said. "I kind of wanted to look at this year to rejuvenate my career." He certainly has rejuvenated his career.

Boyd Gordon netted his first goal of the season on Sunday.

When the Coyotes inked him to a two-year/$2.65 million contract in July, they probably didn't do so because they thought he'd do much offensively. Gordon had just three goals and nine points in 60 games last season and he isn't expected to do much better in 2011-12.
