Boyd Gordon (upper body) will be out week-to-week according to head coach Dave Tippett.
Gordon was injured in Thursday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks and he didn't suit up in Friday's tilt. The 32-year-old forward doesn't contribute much offensively, but he has the best faceoff winning percentage on the team and he also leads all forward in shorthanded ice-time per game (2:45). Boyd Gordon has been sidelined with lower body injury suffered in Thursday's tilt with Chicago.

Gordon has played 675 NHL games since entering the league in his age-20 season in 2003-04, and he has but 53 career goals. Suffice it to say he's no fantasy maven. Hopefully he heals up quick, though.
Feb 5 - 10:09 PM

Boyd Gordon (head) will come off injured reserve and return to the lineup on Monday night.

He has been sidelined since Dec. 26 due to a head injury. Gordon has no goals and two assists in 34 games this season, so his return won't impact your fantasy squad. It will help the Coyotes on faceoffs, though.

Gordon might be able to return on Monday against Vancouver. He has two assists in 34 games this season.

After suffering a head injury during Saturday's match, Boyd Gordon will sit out Sunday's with Colorado.

If nothing else, the veteran forward is still a faceoff dynamo. He's won 56.6% of his draws this season, which is mighty impressive. Unfortunately that's all he provides statistically so feel free to leave him out on the wire.

Boyd Gordon suffered a head injury Saturday and did not return.

Jake Muzzin picked up a five minute major and a match penalty for his hit to the head of Gordon. Consider Gordon day-to-day for now as there was no update provided after the game. Gordon has only two assists in 34 games this season so if he was in your fantasy lineup perhaps it's time to pick a new sport.

Boyd Gordon has seen his playing time drop in Arizona relative to what it was last season.

Gordon was logging an average of 13:19 minutes per contest in 2014-15 while he was in Edmonton. Now he's down to 11:30 minutes per game, although he has played modestly above that average in his last two contests. He has an assist in 10 games this season.

Boyd Gordon knows what to expect in his return to the Arizona Coyotes.

"I know what (coach Dave Tippett) expects from me, and I think playing two seasons there -- I think maybe the transition's easier than going to a different team and different coaching and all that kind of stuff," Gordon said. "Hopefully the transition is maybe a little bit smoother than going somewhere else." Gordon tallied six goals and 13 points in 68 games last season while ranking 11th (55.9%) in face-off proficiency.

The Edmonton Oilers have traded center Boyd Gordon to the Arizona Coyotes for winger Lauri Korpikoski.

While the salaries even out at $3M for each player's expiring contract, the Coyotes inch ever-closer to the cap floor by taking on an extra half-million dollars in cap space. "Boyd is an excellent defensive center who is one of the league's best in the face-off circle," Coyotes GM Don Maloney said. "He has a great work ethic and will add experience and leadership to our dressing room. We are excited to have him back." Gordon recorded 13 points in 68 games for Edmonton last season while ranking 11th best league-wide with a 55.9 face-off winning percentage.

Luke Gazdic will take his spot Wednesday night.
