Sean Bergenheim doesn't regret his decision to skip the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, even though Finland ended up winning the bronze medal.

"I would have liked to play in the Olympics for sure. But there was no question in my mind what was the right thing to do," he said. "For me, at this point in my career, I had to make this choice and just focus on getting better." Sean Bergenheim is expected to be named to Team Finland's Olympic roster following injuries to Mikko Koivu and Valtteri Filppula.

Bergenheim and KHL player Jarkko Immonen are listed as reserves on Finland's roster, but the Finns have not officially named them to the team yet. Since Bergenheim plays left wing and both Koivu and Filppula are centers, there is a possibility the Finns look for a center to fill the void. However, the only Finnish NHL center not already on the roster is Saku Koivu, who reportedly declined an invitation to participate in the games. Through 42 games with the Panthers, the 30 year-old Bergenheim has 13 goals and 19 points with a -13 rating.
