Jiri Hudler is expected to see time on the Stars' power play this year.
"He has a history of being good on the power play, he has a history of playing well in the top six, so we think he has a chance to be a real fit here," GM Jim Nill said. Hudler could see time with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin this year, but in Monday's preseason opener he played alongside Jason Spezza and Patrick Sharp. He is shaping up to be a good value pick late in drafts. Sep 27 - 12:32 PM

Veteran Jiri Hudler scored a goal and assisted on another in the Dallas Stars' 3-1 exhibition victory Monday night over the St. Louis Blues.

Hudler's linemate, Patrick Sharp, contributed two assists. Patrik Nemeth and Patrick Eaves scored the Stars' other two goals. Kevin Shattenkirk had the Blues' goal. Kari Lehtonen stopped nine of 10 shots for Dallas. His replacement, Maxime Legace, was a perfect 14-for-14. Ville Husso made seven of eight saves for St. Louis. Carter Hutton came in for Husso and turned aside 21 of the 23 shots he faced.

Jiri Hudler wasn't interested in joining Team Czech Republic at the upcoming World Cup.

There's some bad blood between Hudler and the Czech Hockey Federation. Hudler was left off the 2014 Olympic Team and the relationship has been fractured ever since. With a number of players pulling out of the tournament for the Czech Republic, GM Martin Rucinsky tried to get a hold of Hudler, but never had his calls or text messages returned. Hudler's agent, Petr Svoboda, later confirmed that his client had no interest in representing the Czech Republic.
Sep 4 - 1:42 PM

The Dallas Stars and Jiri Hudler have agreed to terms on a one-year, $2 million contract.

The 32-year-old had a disappointing 2015-16 season with Calgary and Florida, but he's just one season removed from a 76-point season. This is a nice low-risk signing for Dallas, as Hudler gives them another top-nine forward. Hudler's fantasy stock could rise significantly if he gets an opportunity to play with Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin or Jason Spezza.
Aug 24 - 10:57 AM

Jiri Hudler could reportedly sign this week, according to NEWS 1130 Sports.

The report added that the Vancouver Canucks are still in the mix for the unrestricted free agent forward.
Aug 10 - 8:36 AM

Jiri Hudler remains an unsigned unrestricted free agent.

He generated 16 goals and 46 points in 72 games with Calgary and Florida last season. Hudler is highly unlikely to return to the 0.97 point-per-game form he displayed in 2014-15, but he is capable of producing 50-55 points in the right situation.
Jul 29 - 8:50 AM

Jiri Hudler may be heading to unrestricted free agency in the summer.

The Panthers may look within the organization to replace him on the roster next season. Hudler contributed six goals and 11 points in 19 games with Florida after he was acquired from Calgary. He also had one assist in six playoff matches.
Jun 9 - 8:42 AM

Jiri Hudler is riding a nice hot streak as the Panthers head into the playoffs.

Hudler picked up another pair of assists during Saturday's 5-2 win over Carolina. He ends the post-trade deadline portion of the season with 11 points in 19 games for Florida.
Apr 10 - 12:31 AM

Jiri Hudler is now up to nine points in 17 games with the Florida Panthers, as they beat Montreal 4-1 on Tuesday night.

Hudler contributed his sixth goal of the season in the effort as well. He's shooting 40% with Florida, so we wouldn't expect that to last. But Hudler may be one of the few hot hands left on the wire this week.
Apr 6 - 12:59 AM

Jiri Hudler scored in Monday's 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers.

He gave the Panthers a chance with 35.7 seconds left in the third period, but Tanner Glass sealed the win for the Rangers with an empty-netter with 8.2 seconds remaining. Hudler has produced two goals and two assists over a four-game point streak. He has six points in 10 games with the Panthers.
Mar 22 - 10:03 AM

Jiri Hudler extended his point streak to three games in Saturday's loss to Detroit.

Hudler picked up an assist on Nick Bjugstad's first period goal. The 32-year-old struggled after being traded from Calgary to Florida, but he seems to be finding his game. He has 13 goals and 40 points in 62 games this season.
Mar 20 - 10:25 AM

Jiri Hudler scored in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Montreal.

He gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead at the 12:45 mark of the second period. Hudler has registered three goals in seven games with Florida since he was acquired from Calgary.
Mar 16 - 7:54 AM

Jiri Hudler scored two goals in the Florida Panthers' 5-4 overtime loss against the visiting Boston Bruins Monday night.

The Panthers trailed 4-1 after the first period but came back strong in the second and third periods to send the game into overtime. Hudler's goals were his 11th and 12th of the season as well as his first markers with the Panthers. Jussi Jokinen netted his 12th goal of the season in between Hudler's goals. In the first period, Alexsander Barkov scored his 20th goal of the season. Hudler led the Panthers in shots on goal, with six. Jonathan Huberdeau, back in the lineup after missing six games with an upper-body injury, picked up his 30th and 31st assists of the season.
Mar 7 - 11:08 PM

Jiri Hudler will play on the first line during his second game with Florida on Saturday night.

Hudler will be featured to the left of Aleksander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr, which ought to make for a dynamic line, especially against the lowly Coyotes. While he has just 10 goals and 35 points in 53 games this season, Hudler has four goals and 20 points in 34 career games against the Coyotes as well.

Mar 5 - 7:45 PM

Jiri Hudler won't play in Thursday's game against Colorado because he's still working out his visa issues.

The 32-year-old was able to play in Tuesday's game because it was in Canada (against Winnipeg), but he's still getting his paperwork done to be able to play in the USA. The issues seem to be resolved. He'll meet the team in Arizona on Friday.
