Dany Sabourin was pitiful Saturday night for Hershey, allowing eight goals on 30 shots.
Braden Holtby is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, so Sabourin got the start. At this point in his career, he's no more than a veteran AHL player. Sat, Oct 20, 2012 10:29:00 PM

Dany Sabourin has been put on waivers by the Washington Capitals.

Assuming the NHL and players' union eventually agree on a CBA before the 2012-13 campaign is lost, Sabourin is expected to spend the season in the AHL. If there's a lockout, then that might make it more difficult for Sabourin to secure a spot on AHL Hershey's roster.

Dany Sabourin has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Washington Capitals.

He was slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and has spent the past two seasons with the AHL's Hershey Bears. Sabourin is expected to stay as a veteran presence again in 2012-13 with prospect Philipp Grubauer likely getting most of the playing time.

The Capitals recalled Dany Sabourin from Hershey of the AHL.

Sabourin was called up a couple of times this season, though he did not play in an NHL game. The 31-year-old has appeared in 57 NHL games with the Flames, Penguins and Canucks. He was 18-12-5 with a 2.76 GAA for the Bears this season.

Dany Sabourin has been sent down to the minors.

Michal Neuvirth is ready to return to the Capitals' lineup, so Washington doesn't need Sabourin to serve as the team's backup anymore. Sabourin didn't get any playing time with the Capitals in the first round.

Dany Sabourin has been called up from the minors.

Tomas Vokoun and Michal Neuvirth are both questionable for the start of the playoffs, so the Capitals are calling up Sabourin for insurance purposes. If both Vokoun and Neuvirth are unavailable, Sabourin will serve as Braden Holtby's understudy.

Dany Sabourin, a journeyman goaltender for Hershey of the American Hockey League, told the Patriot-News on Friday night that he had been recalled to back up Braden Holtby in New York today.

Both of the Caps' main goalies, Tomas Vokoun and Michal Neuvirth, are injured.

Dany Sabourin was reassigned to the AHL on Monday.

However, with Michal Neuvirth unlikely to dress because of a sore foot the Capitals will probably recall Sabourin or Braden Holtby to serve as Tomas Vokoun's backup on Tuesday night against Florida.

The Washington Capitals have recalled goalie Dany Sabourin from AHL Hershey.

Sabourin will serve as the backup to Tomas Vokoun on Saturday. It appears Michal Neuvirth is on his way to 100% health but is not yet ready to backup.

The Washington Capitals have reassigned goalie Dany Sabourin to Hershey of the AHL.

Sabourin must first clear waivers, which is likely in this case. With too many goaltenders in Washington this move was highly expected. Look for Sabourin to backup Braden Holtby for Hershey all season long.

Dany Sabourin has signed a one year, two-way contract with the Capitals.

The deal will pay Sabourin $525,000 if he plays in the NHL or $150,000 if he spends the season in the minors. Given the wealth of young netminders on the Washington roster, our guess is that Sabourin spends a lot of time in Hershey.

Dany Sabourin has been sent down to the minors by Washington.

He had been serving as Michal Neuvirth's backup with Semyon Varlamov out to start the year, but he did not see any action.
Tue, Oct 26, 2010 08:55:00 AM

With the injury to Semyon Varlamov, the Capitals have recalled Dany Sabourin from Hershey of the AHL.

Unless Varlamov is out for a long stretch, don't expect Sabourin to do much more while he's in Washington than backup Michal Neuvirth.

Dany Sabourin has successfully cleared waivers.

The Capitals have assigned Sabourin to AHL Hershey. Semyon Varlamov (groin) will probably be available for Saturday's game, although he might end up serving as Michal Neuvirth's backup in that contest.

The Washington Capitals have placed goaltender Dany Sabourin on waivers.

This move was expected as Semyon Varlamov is ready to return to the Washington lineup. If Sabourin passes through waivers, and he should, he will be sent to Hershey of the AHL. He will be recalled only if there is an injury to Varlamov or Michal Neuvirth.
