Coach Todd Richards said a leg muscle tear will likely shelve Curtis Sanford for the balance of the season.

The goalie suffered his injury in the opening period Sunday at Calgary and departed in favor Steve Mason. If indeed Sanford is through, he would finish his season 10-18-4 with a 2.60 GAA and .911 save percentage.

Curtis Sanford suffered a quadriceps injury in the first period and did not return.

The injury should make Allen York an NHL backup once again as Steve Mason will get most of the starts. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Curtis Sanford stopped two shots before departing with a lower-body injury Sunday.

Sanford was in goal for just over 14 minutes before suffering the injury. He was replaced with Steve Mason, who was fantastic as he stopped 28 of 29 shots en route to a 2-1 shootout victory.

Curtis Sanford will be in goal for Columbus Sunday.

Sanford sat on Saturday as he watched Steve Mason drop a 4-3 decision to the Canucks in Vancouver as he attempted to win his fifth straight game for the first time in his career. "(Mason) played well enough to maybe deserve it, but our minds were made up that Curtis was going to go (on the back-to-back)," coach Todd Richards said.

Curtis Sanford had 24 of 26 shots in a 3-0 loss Wednesday night.

Sanford allowed two goals on 12 shots in the second period. He hasn't won a game since Feb. 7.

Curtis Sanford will be between the pipes for Columbus on Wednesday versus Edmonton.

Steve Mason (lacerated pinkie) practiced Wednesday, but he isn't ready to resume active duty just yet. Sanford owns a 10-17-4 record this season to go with a .911 save percentage and a 2.64 GAA.

Curtis Sanford blocked 24 of 26 shots Sunday, but the Blue Jackets were defeated by St. Louis by a score of 2-1.

Sanford has begun to cede playing back to Steve Mason, which makes sense since neither netminder is worthy of a full-time starting gig in the NHL, even if it behind the league's worst team.

Even after allowing four goals against the Blues Saturday, look for Curtis Sanford to get the nod Sunday in the second of back-to-back contests against St. Louis.

It's the worst team in the NHL against the best. Sanford doesn't have much of a chance here.

Curtis Sanford was battered for four goals on 29 shots in the Columbus Blue Jackets' 4-1 setback to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.

Sanford hasn't been getting as many starts lately, but he's been pretty dreadful when given his chances. Over his last four starts (all losses), he hasn't given up fewer than three goals. The Blue Jackets had won four in a row before this loss and will get St. Louis on Sunday night at home, but it's unclear if Steve Mason will get the call since he's dealing with a cut hand.

Curtis Sanford will get the start in goal for Columbus Saturday.

The Blue Jackets play back-to-back games on the weekend against the Blues and Sanford will be in net for both as Steve Mason is out with a cut hand. Adjust your fantasy lineup accordingly. Sanford had been mediocre in his last two starts giving up nine goals but was perfect Thursday in relief of Mason, stopping all 12 shots that came his way. He is 10-15-4 with a 2.61 GAA and a .912 save percentage.

Curtis Sanford will probably play between the pipes in one of Columbus' two games this weekend.

Sanford will be looking to rebound after allowing nine goals in his last two starts. Steve Mason, who has been hot lately, is projected to start on Thursday.

Curtis Sanford has suffered two straight third period collapses.

Sanford has surrendered several goals in the final 20 minutes of his last two starts. He's not going to win many games with Columbus for the remainder of the season, but Sanford might have a respectable GAA and save percentage in March.
Wed, Feb 29, 2012 10:38:00 AM

Curtis Sanford was beaten five times on 25 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Red Wings Tuesday night.

Sanford has been the best of the Blue Jackets' goaltenders this season, but he hasn't exactly been spectacular. His record stands at 10-15-4 after the loss.
Tue, Feb 28, 2012 09:59:00 PM

Curtis Sanford's record dropped to 10-14-4 after the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2.

Sanford has produced solid numbers considering the circumstances, even if he hasn't really spun fantasy gold. The Blue Jackets will have a decision to make with him this off-season since his contract expires in July.
