Zbynek Michalek is too sick to play, meaning Stefan Elliott will tag in for Saturday's match with Ottawa.
Through 21 games thus far Michalek has two points, 10 PIMs, 34 hits, and 42 blocks for the Coyotes. Elliott meanwhile has played just 70 NHL games since debuting during the 2011-12 season. Nov 28 - 9:56 PM

Zbynek Michalek is not warming up during the pregame skate against Ottawa on Saturday night.

This is often the sign a player will not be playing, and if so, Stefan Elliott will likely take Michalek's place. Through 21 games thus far Michalek has two points, 10 PIMs, 34 hits, and 42 blocks for the Coyotes. He would be a true loss to the blue line should he not play.
Nov 28 - 9:45 PM

Zbynek Michalek will draw back into the lineup after missing one game with an upper body ailment.

Sacrificing the roster spot is Connor Murphy in all likelihood. Michalek scored the Coyotes season opening goal, two minutes into the game against Los Angeles and a cornerstone of the Arizona blueline.
Oct 14 - 9:56 PM

Zbynek Michalek (upper body) took part in Monday's practice.

Michalek didn't play on Saturday due to the ailment. Coyotes coach Dave Tippett thinks he'll return for Wednesday's game.
Oct 13 - 9:42 AM

Zbynek Michalek missed Saturday's contest with an upper body injury.

Michalek played on Friday in Los Angeles against the Kings and actually opened the scoring. The defenseman is not a big point producer but his fantasy value lies in the blocked shots category. Consider him day-to-day and look elsewhere for now if you need blocked shots.
Oct 11 - 6:37 AM

Defenseman Zbynek Michalek is happy to be back with the Arizona Coyotes.

The Coyotes traded Michalek to the Blues at the deadline but re-signed the UFA on July 1. Michalek will provide a veteran presence to the Coyotes blueline but his only fantasy asset is his ability to block shots. "I want to be good for the team on the ice," he said. "I’m still going to play well, and I believe that I can still play well and I’ll do my best to be the best player I can be and still help the team."
Sep 27 - 6:01 AM

The Arizona Coyotes have signed defenseman Zbynek Michalek to a two-year/$6.4 million contract.

Michalek was traded to the St. Louis Blues at the deadline and now returns to his former club. He is a solid blueliner whose only fantasy asset is blocked shots.
Jul 1 - 1:03 PM

Zbynek Michalek is open to playing for the Blues next year.

"I still have to talk to my family and agent, but like what I said, I enjoyed my time here and I'm definitely not closing any doors. Anything can happen," he said. "There's a situation with the cap, too. It's not easy, I'm just hoping that I'll play somewhere. We'll see. I'm really open to coming back here, I enjoyed my time. We'll see what time brings in the summer." Michalek becomes an unrestricted free agent in July. He skated in 15 games with St. Louis during the regular season and made another six appearances with the team in the playoffs. Michalek was acquired from Arizona for prospect Maxim Letunov and a second-round pick (No. 52 overall) in 2014.
Apr 29 - 3:57 PM

Zbynek Michalek recorded his first goal with the St. Louis Blues, unfortunately it was the only marker the team had in their 4-1 loss to Vancouver.

Michalek threw sticks up all over the stat sheet, scoring on his only shot, with a takeaway, a block, and a hit over 16:31 of ice time. He now has two points in nine games with the Blues, with 10 points in 63 games overall this season.
Mar 31 - 12:22 AM

Zbynek Michalek played 17:14 in his St. Louis Blues' debut on Saturday night.

The 32-year-old was acquired from Arizona at the trade deadline but he has been unable to play because of a concussion he suffered as a member of the Coyotes. Michalek finished the game with a minus-1 rating, two shots on goal and a blocked shot. Michalek is a reliable defensive defenseman who doesn't have much fantasy value.
Mar 15 - 12:08 PM

Zbynek Michalek will make his St. Louis debut Saturday night against the Wild.

Michalek, who was acquired in a deal with the Coyotes on trade deadline day, has been recovering from a concussion that has kept him from playing. He will likely be paired with Jay Bouwmeester. Michalek is a decent NHL defenseman but not much of a fantasy hockey asset.
Mar 14 - 12:53 PM

Zbynek Michalek (concussion) participated in Wednesday's optional practice.

"I'm getting closer and closer," Michalek said. "I've been skating for a while now. I feel good. It would be nice to get a full practice in, too, but I'll take whatever. It's tough practicing right now with a lot of games on the schedule." It's become more about conditioning for Michalek now that his concussion symptoms haven't been an issue.
Mar 12 - 10:37 AM

Zbynek Michalek (concussion) resumed skating on Friday.

It was Michalek's first time on the ice since Feb. 14 when he suffered a concussion. He has two goals and eight points in 53 contests in 2014-15. As is typically the case with concussed players, it's not clear when he'll return.
Mar 6 - 5:43 PM

Zbynek Michalek, Olli Jokinen, Chris Butler and Chris Porter will be scratched in Thursday's game against Philadelphia.

Michalek still hasn't made his Blues' debut because he's suffering from a concussion. Jokinen was acquired from Toronto on Monday and he is expected to make his debut on Saturday. Both Butler and Porter have consistently been healthy scratches in 2014-15.
Mar 5 - 7:02 PM

Zbynek Michalek (concussion) still hasn't resumed skating, but he's making some progress.

"Michalek is riding the bike now, so that's a good sign. He's on the mend, so we're pretty excited," coach Ken Hitchcock said. Michalek hasn't played since Feb. 14 due to a concussion, but that didn't stop the Blues from acquiring him from Arizona at the trade deadline.
