Dec 8 - 9:41 AM

Mike Smith picked up a shutout in a 31-save performance, securing a 2-0 victory for the Calgary Flames against the Minnesota Wild.

Following a rocky start to the season, Smith is now on his longest winning streak of the season at five games. Thursday night's shutout was his first since Oct. 9. Smith's record is 10-7-1, two shutouts, a GAA of 2.93 and an .892 save percentage.
Dec 7 - 1:57 AM

Mike Smith will indeed start for Calgary on Thursday.

That was already anticipated, but now we have confirmation. Smith will attempt to extend his winning streak to five games.
Dec 6 - 1:05 PM

Mike Smith is projected to start on Thursday.

That's not confirmed though, so we'll have to circle back to this later in the day. He's won his last four games, including Tuesday's contest where he came in relief of David Rittich.

Dec 6 - 9:45 AM

Mike Smith allowed two goals on 24 shots in Sunday’s 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Things got chippy in this one, with Smith challenging Corey Crawford to a fight but to no avail. Calgary’s veteran goaltender has now won three straight games in goal, improving his record to 8-7-1 with a 3.06 goals-against-average and a .886 save percentage. His early season struggles appear to be in the past.
Dec 2 - 9:50 PM

Mike Smith will get the call against Chicago on Sunday.

Smith has posted wins in his last two outings and is coming off a 14-save, 4-1 win over Los Angeles on Friday. He has a 7-7-1 record this year with a 3.13 goals-against average and .885 save percentage.
Dec 2 - 1:05 PM

Mike Smith allowed just one goal on 14 shots in Friday's 4-1 win against the visiting Los Angeles Kings.

Smith barely had to break a sweat, as only Adrian Kempe beat him midway through the second period on an even-strength goal. It was a much-needed good showing, as David Rittich has really cut into Smith's workload and a poor outing might have cut into his time in the crease even further. He improved to 7-7-1 with a still rather mediocre 3.13 goals-against average and .885 save percentage.
Dec 1 - 3:41 AM

Mike Smith will be the Flames' starter on Friday.

Smith stopped 28 of 29 shots in his previous start on Sunday. He has a 6-7-1 record, 3.29 GAA, and .883 save percentage in 14 contests this season.
Nov 29 - 3:02 PM

Mike Smith stopped 28 of 29 shots in a 6-1 victory versus Arizona on Sunday.

Smith's last win came on Nov. 1 and his victory Sunday ended a three-game losing skid. His bid for his second shutout of the season ended when Clayton Keller scored at the 13:44 mark of the third period. Smith needed a performance like this with David Rittich playing very well.
Nov 25 - 6:00 PM

Mike Smith will be in goal for Sunday's afternoon match against Arizona.

Smith will look to halt his three-game losing streak in his first start since Nov. 15. He has posted a record of 5-7-1 this season with a 3.48 goals-against average and .876 save percentage.
Nov 25 - 2:40 PM

Mike Smith could get the start for the Calgary Flames Sunday.

The netminder has not played in over a week as David Rittich has taken over momentarily as the Flames starter, but Smith was in net Saturday during practice. The Flames are in Arizona to take on the Coyotes, Smith's former team, and it could be a good spot for the veteran to try and regain some confidence. Smith is 5-7-1 this season with a 3.48 GAA and a .876 save percentage.
Nov 25 - 6:12 AM

Mike Smith made 19 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.

Smith has now lost his last three starts for the Flames, allowing eight goals in his last three. Smith's record falls to 5-7-1 with a 3.48 GAA and an .876 save percentage.
Nov 16 - 12:16 AM

Mike Smith will be between the pipes Thursday night against Montreal.

Smith has lost his last two starts, but he played very well in Sunday's defeat versus San Jose. He has a 5-6-1 record this season with a 3.51 goals-against average and .877 save percentage.
Nov 14 - 1:59 PM

Mike Smith was outstanding in a 3-1 loss to San Jose Sunday.

After struggling for most of the first month of the season, Smith gave the Flames every opportunity to win on Sunday as he tried to steal the game from the Sharks. "He played great," defenseman Travis Hamonic said. "I don’t know how many 10-bell (saves) he had, probably five or six. Probably three or four in the second period and a couple in the third … he really held down the fort for us. I’m not just saying that. You can see the saves he was making. You wish you could have put a couple more on the board because of how well he was playing." Smith is 5-6-1 with a 3.51 GAA and a .877 save percentage but with more efforts like Sunday, he will become fantasy-relevant again.
