It appears that all's quiet on the Christian Ehrhoff front when it comes to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Carolina has been cited as a potential destination for Ehrhoff, but only if the Hurricanes can fit him in under the cap. With that in mind, it's possible that Ehrhoff is waiting to see if a better offer presents itself. Carolina might similarly be waiting to find out if he'll lower his demands. Jul 24 - 4:51 PM

The Blue Jackets have had discussions with free agent Christian Ehrhoff, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

However, the Blue Jackets will wait until his price comes down, which is very possible as he lingers on the market. Columbus has $3.7 million in cap space, according to generalfanager.com. Ehrhoff made $4 million last season with the Penguins, where he had 14 points in 49 games.

Despite a report to the contrary, the Penguins haven't ruled out re-signing Christian Ehrhoff.

"I don't want to cross anybody off the list because you don't know what happens here in the next month," Penguins GM Jim Rutherford said. It would be a bit surprising if the Penguins re-signed Ehrhoff though. They have promising young options to lean on and given their cap situation, that might be their best bet. Ehrhoff had just three goals and 14 points in 49 games in 2014-15.

The Penguins will move on from Christian Ehrhoff, meaning his time in Pittsburgh lasted just 49 games.

It was a bold move by both parties to sign the then-recently bought-out veteran defender for just a year at $4 million last season. Pittsburgh got an upper-tier caliber defender for below market, and Ehrhoff got a prime opportunity to build up his cache after spending three seasons in Buffalo. Unfortunately, neither got what they wanted. Ehrhoff lost 33 regular season games plus the playoffs due to injuries, and had his worst career offensive output since his rookie season. At this point, it's difficult to say how highly the 32-year-old will be valued as a free agent.
Jun 11 - 5:56 PM

It appears that Christian Ehrhoff will become a free agent on July 1st.

Ehrhoff however isn't headed to free agency with much leverage. He missed 33 of Pittsburgh's final 39 games, including the playoffs, with a concussion. His second of the season. Though his agent Rick Curran did give the 32 year old defender a "clean bill of health". Ehrhoff, noted as an offensive defenseman, has reached the 30-point plateau just twice over the last four seasons since leaving Vancouver.

Christian Ehrhoff (upper body) will remain on the sidelines for Game 3 Monday night against the Rangers.

Ehrhoff missed the Pens last nine regular season games and was unable to play in the first two games of the Pens playoff series with the Rangers due to the injury. Head Coach Mike Johnston was quoted as saying, "he just hasn’t been progressing" so that can’t be a good sign. Consider him day-to-day for the time being.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will remain without Christian Ehrhoff as they try to tie their playoff series with the New York Rangers in Game 2.

Ehrhoff, 32, has been sidelined since March 24 with an upper-body injury. Really, his season hasn't really ever taken off with the Penguins thanks in large part to various ailments. Pittsburgh would gladly welcome him back if he can get into this series, though.

Apr 16 - 3:26 PM

Christian Ehrhoff (upper body) is now able to participate in contact drills.

Apr 14 - 2:36 PM

Christian Ehrhoff has 'an outside chance' of playing in the playoffs according to coach Mike Johnston.

Ehrhoff was injured three weeks ago and has not played since suffering the upper body injury. The Penguins are hurting badly on the blueline and the emergence of Ehrhoff can only help the cause as they take on the Rangers in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Ehrhoff ended the season with only three goals and 14 points in an injury-plagued 49 games.
