The Buffalo Sabres didn't wrestle with the decision to buy out Christian Ehrhoff.

"The fact that he quite frankly doesn't want to be here makes it easy," GM Tim Murray said. "I've said at the start that if you don't want to be here we'll make it happen. He's made I believe $22 million in three years and feels that we're not going in the right direction, but he really hasn't had much part in the direction the team has gone. So time to move on." Ehrhoff said through his agent that he was "surprised" by the buyout. He had seven years remaining on a 10-year, $40 million contract. He can sign anywhere this week as an unrestricted free agent.

Christian Ehrhoff thinks he'll be back with the Sabres next season.

"I think if they want to move me, they can move me," he said. " ... We'll see. Obviously, it's not up to me and that remains to be seen." He was asked to submit a list of teams he'd accept a trade to prior to the deadline. Ehrhoff posted six goals and 33 points in 79 games. He also had a minus-27 rating and is signed through the 2020-21 season.

Christian Ehrhoff left Saturday's game against Boston with a mild concussion.

Christian Ehrhoff will be a game-time decision on Tuesday after his ear was sliced by a puck during Sunday's game in Philadelphia.

Christian Ehrhoff had an assist in Buffalo's 4-1 loss on Saturday.

Mar 16 - 9:26 AM

Christian Ehrhoff has provided the Buffalo Sabres with a list of eight teams he's not willing to be traded to.

Ehrhoff was asked by Buffalo to produce the list as his modified no-trade clause gives him the right to limit the number of teams the Sabres can negotiate with. The Sabres are willing to trade almost anyone on the team and Ehrhoff isn't reading too much into Buffalo's actions. "They obviously want to be prepared come trade deadline," he said. "We'll see where it will take us."
Feb 28 - 12:03 PM

Christian Ehrhoff scored the opening goal and was credited with the winner as well in Buffalo's 3-2 win over Carolina on Tuesday night.

Ehrhoff's game winner came with just 44 seconds left in the game when he made a centering pass that was tipped in by a Hurricanes defenseman. His pair knocks up his season total to six goals and 21 assists through 56 games. Four of those goals have come in the past eight games.
Feb 25 - 9:43 PM

Christian Ehrhoff had an assist in Buffalo's 7-1 loss on Saturday.

Ehrhoff started February on a positive note - or at least as positive a note as is possible when your team losing 7-1 - after a strong January where he recorded nine points in 12 games. He now has four goals and 24 points in 52 contests. At this rate he has an outside of shot of finishing the season as the team's scoring leader, which honestly says more about Buffalo than it does Ehrhoff.

Christian Ehrhoff was too ill to play Thursday night.

Jan 30 - 6:53 PM

Christian Ehrhoff has been playing some strong hockey for the Sabres' defense lately.

After a very rough November (3 points, 12 games, -7 rating), Ehrhoff has stepped it up with 15 points in 23 games and a +1 rating in the two months since. Under contract until 2022, Germany's Olympic captain needs more months like December and January to reach the 50-point plateau as he did with the Canucks in 2009-10.
