Forward Travis Moen may be back in the Dallas lineup when the Stars visit the Canucks in Vancouver Saturday night.
Dallas coach Lindy Ruff said either Moen or Ryan Garbutt, or both, will return after he made them healthy scratches Wednesday night for a game against Calgary. Moen was taken off injured reserve Monday. On the season, he has a goal and five assists in 40 games. Garbutt has seven goals and 22 points in 60 games. Ruff would not say who would sit out in Vancouver if Moen and-or Garbutt returned. Mar 28 - 5:59 PM

Moen was just taken off of injured reserve Monday but still cannot crack the Stars lineup having missed the last two games. On the season he has a goal and five assists with 18 penalty minutes in 40 games this year. Garbutt has sat out the last two Stars games but has played in 60 games overall this year, scoring seven goals and 22 points. He appears to have found the dog house.

Travis Moen (upper body) has been taken off injured reserve, but he'll be scratched Monday.

He has six points and 56 hits in 40 games this season, so he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.

Travis Moen (upper body) has been participating in full practices.

However, he isn't ready to return to the lineup yet, according to coach Lindy Ruff. Moen hasn't played since Feb. 17 because of an upper-body injury. He has six points and 56 hits in 40 games.

He skated in three games with the Stars after missing five games with a lower-body injury. Moen is back on the injured list again, but this time it's an upper-body ailment.
Feb 18 - 5:41 PM

Travis Moen is out for an extended period of time due to an upper-body injury.

Moen just returned to the lineup from a lower-body problem. With Ales Hemsky questionable for Thursday, the Stars will bring someone up from the minors.
Feb 18 - 3:00 PM

Travis Moen (lower body) is expected to play on the fourth line on Friday.

Moen missed five contests due to the injury. With Antoine Roussel suspended, the Stars had an open spot in the lineup, so the timing of Moen's return worked out nicely. Vernon Fiddler also moved up from the fourth to third line due to Roussel's absence.
Feb 13 - 3:24 PM

Travis Moen has been cleared to return from a lower-body injury.

He has missed the last five games, but could play Friday against Florida. Antoine Roussel has been suspended for two contests, so Moen or call-up Curtis McKenzie will play instead.

Travis Moen is still not ready to play, and will sit Friday night in Calgary.

Even if he were ready, the once quality rugged lower-six forward simply doesn't score, hit, block, or take enough penalties to be a viable fantasy player.

Travis Moen skated Saturday morning but won't play in the Stars' evening game against the Devils.

Moen has been out of action with an upper-body injury since before the trade that brought him to Dallas. Consider the tough guy day-to-day.

Newly-acquired Travis Moen will not be in the Dallas lineup Saturday afternoon against the Wild.

He needs some more practice time with his new team before suiting up. Moen was acquired by the Stars on Tuesday from the Canadiens for Sergei Gonchar. When Moen does play for Dallas he will be a solid third or fourth-line player with no real fantasy value.

Fri, Nov 14, 2014 10:55:00 AM

The Dallas Stars have acquired Travis Moen from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Sergei Gonchar.

This is an interesting trade for Dallas given that its blueline was thin to begin with. The Stars have struggled early this season despite high expectations and while Moen is certainly isn't young at 32, this is a somewhat longer term move for Dallas given that Moen is signed through 2015-16. Moen is a bottom-six forward who can help the Stars kill penalties.
