Detroit newcomer Marek Zidlicky scored a power-play goal at 1:09 of overtime to give the Red Wings a 2-1 triumph over the visiting New York Rangers Wednesday night.
Zidlicky scored his first goal as a Red Wing in his first game with Detroit since being acquired from New Jersey at the trade deadline this week. Zidlicky was dealt by the Devils for a third-round pick in the 2016 NHL draft. If the Wings reach the Stanley Cup final, New Jersey would get Detroit's second-round pick. Zidlicky, a veteran defenseman, can be an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Wings were in hot pursuit of a right-handed defenseman and they got one in Zidlicky. His goal Wednesday gives him 24 points (five goals) in 64 games this season. The other Detroit goal scorer in this one was Justin Abdelkader, who gave the Wings a 1-0 lead at 6:12 of the first period. Abdelkader now has 14 goals on the season. Henrik Zetterberg assisted on both Detroit goals and increased his season total to 36. Zetterberg was playing for the first time after missing four games because of a head injury. Mar 4 - 10:50 PM

Marek Zidlicky has been dealt to Detroit for a third-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.

If the Red Wings reach the Stanley Cup final, New Jersey gets Detroit's second-round pick. The veteran defender can be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Detroit was after a right-handed defenseman and they found one in Zidlicky, who brings some depth to the back end of the Wings. He has 23 points in 63 matches this season.
Mar 2 - 1:07 PM

The New Jersey Devils still haven't inquired to Marek Zidlicky about his willingness to waive his no-trade clause.

There was a similar report roughly two weeks ago, but obviously we're mere days away from the trade deadline at this point. That doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility of him being dealt, but he does have a full no-trade clause, so the Devils would need to get his blessing before anything could happen. Zidlicky hasn't ruled out the possibility of accepting a trade, but he wants to stay in New Jersey.
Feb 27 - 4:38 PM

The New Jersey Devils haven't approached Marek Zidlicky about the possibility of him waiving his no-trade clause.

Zidlicky isn't sure if he'd waive it if asked to do so. "I don't think about that," he said about the possibility of being traded. "The last two games was pretty tough for us and I don't think about it." Given that the Devils are out of the playoff race, they are likely open to moving the 38-year-old defenseman. Zidlicky has four goals and 22 points in 56 contests this season.
Feb 16 - 6:36 PM

Marek Zidlicky recorded an assist in a 2-1 win over Ottawa Tuesday night.

Zidlicky has four goals and 21 points in 51 contests in 2014-15. Although he recorded 42 points last season, we wouldn't count on him improving on his current pace before the campaign ends.
Feb 4 - 5:26 AM

Marek Zidlicky has a sore thumb, but his X-rays came back negative.

He participated in Thursday's practice after he was struck in the thumb by a shot on Wednesday night. Zidlicky required six stitches to close a cut, but it doesn't sound like he'll miss any time.
Jan 15 - 5:14 PM

Marek Zidlicky had a goal and an assist in the Devils' 3-2 shootout loss to the Islanders on Monday.

Zidlicky has four goals and 17 points in 32 contests this season. He should be able to roughly maintain that point-per-game point, which means he will likely surpass the 40-point mark for the second straight season.

Marek Zidlicky will indeed dress against the Red Wings on Friday night.

With a reported sore foot, Zids was questionable to start but it looks like he'll play along side of Peter Harrold on the Devils' second pairing.

Marek Zidlicky has a sore foot that might keep him out of Friday's game.

The plan is for Zidlicky to test his foot in the pregame warmups before a decision is made. He has 11 points and 18 penalty minutes in 22 games in 2014-15.

Marek Zidlicky collected two more assists Thursday night in Philadelphia.

Zids just keeps on trucking. The 37-year-old led the team in ice time with 22:11, including 5:50 on special teams. His first assist shouldn't have been awarded, however. It was a normal breakout pass to Jaromir Jagr, who also appeared to momentarily lose possession before spinning and shooting. Zidlicky's second helper was a beaut to Patrick Elias off a sweet touch-pass from Martin Havlat. Hey, two points is two points!

Upon further clarification, Marek Zidlicky can earn up to $4 million in 2014-15.

Zidlicky will actually receive a base salary of $3 million based on his recently signed deal with New Jersey. However, he can earn an additional $1 million by playing in at least 25 games. Barring a major injury, Zidlicky should have no trouble fulfilling the obligations of that bonus.

Marek Zidlicky has agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract with the New Jersey Devils.

That's pretty good value for New Jersey, considering he had 12 goals and 42 points in 81 games in 2013-14. He'll turn 38 in February, so obviously his age is a factor, but he should still be one of the more productive offensive defensemen next season.
Tue, Jun 3, 2014 03:11:00 PM

Marek Zidlicky scored twice to lead the Devils to a 3-2 win over Boston.

Zidlicky will end the season with 12 goals, not too shabby for a blueliner. His game winner came on the power play as Damien Brunner and Jaromir Jagr set up his slapshot. Zidlicky had 42 points this season and eight of his 12 goals were with the man-advantage.

Marek Zidlicky scored the Czech Republic's first goal of the Olympic tournament in a 4-2 loss to Sweden.

He also had four penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in the defeat. Fellow New Jersey Devils Jaromir Jagr and Patrik Elias also found their ways onto the scoresheet for the Czech Rebublic in the contest. Jagr had the team's other goal an Elias picked up an assist on Zidlicky's tally. Tomas Plekanec and Tomas Kaberle also had helpers in the loss.
