The Columbus Blue Jackets have suspended Gregory Campbell for failing to report to the AHL after clearing waivers.
Campbell is on record saying that he wants to take time to contemplate his future, as he thinks it wouldn't be fair to take away a roster spot from a young kid down on the farm. GM Jarmo Kekalainen has been trying to trade Campbell but to no avail just yet. One way or another the situation will resolve itself, and Columbus wouldn't mind if it took as much of his cap hit off the books as possible. Oct 15 - 7:12 PM

Gregory Campbell hasn't reported to AHL Cleveland yet.

He was not in the lineup for Friday's 2-1 win over Rockford and sources say he won't play on Saturday either. Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen declined to comment on the situation. Campbell may be mulling over his options after he didn't land a roster spot with Columbus out of training camp.
Oct 15 - 11:05 AM

Gregory Campbell has been assigned to the minors.

He was expected to end up in the AHL if he went unclaimed off waivers and that has happened. Campbell skated in all 82 games with Columbus last year.
Oct 11 - 3:53 PM

Gregory Campbell is expected to be sent to the minors if he clears waivers.

"That's the ultimate pro right there," Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. "He's in a situation in his career right now where he's older, and it's turning into a younger league. The organization is in the process of infusing young kids into the lineup, and he's caught in a tough spot. But it certainly doesn't make it easier to tell him about it. That's the worst part of the business." Assuming Campbell clears waivers, he might still end up playing with Columbus at some point this season should the Blue Jackets run into injury troubles. He had three goals and 11 points in 82 games in 2015-16.
Oct 11 - 8:30 AM

The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed Gregory Campbell on waivers.

Campbell had three goals and 11 points in 82 games last season. Columbus coach John Tortorella spoke of the need to infuse the Blue Jackets with some younger players and it was speculated that might cost Campbell his fourth-line job.
Oct 10 - 12:21 PM

It looks as if Gregory Campbell will be fighting for fourth-line playing time this season.

Although the veteran forward played in all 82 games in 2015-16, it seems Columbus coach John Tortorella is leaning in a different direction with respect to the makeup of his fourth unit this campaign. "We have a team that is trying to infuse some youth," Tortorella said. "We have a minor-league team that won the Calder Cup with three or four players that are knocking on the door. Something is going to have to give. I don’t know if it’s (Campbell, all season), but right now it is." As it stands now, the Jackets are icing a fourht line featuring center William Karlsson flanked by wingers Matt Calvert and Josh Anderson. Needless today, Campbell has no fantasy value.
Oct 8 - 8:38 AM

Gregory Campbell had an assist in a 2-1 loss to New Jersey on Sunday.

Campbell has three goals and 10 points in 72 games in 2015-16. The 32-year-old is a solid fourth line forward, but he's never going to have much value to standard league fantasy owners.
Mar 21 - 8:34 AM

Gregory Campbell scored for the first time in 48 games on Friday.

Campbell started the season with two goals in his first 20 games and in hindsight that seemed to be a hot streak for the defensive forward. He has eight points thus far and should not be considered in fantasy hockey.
Mar 12 - 7:12 AM

Gregory Campbell scored a goal and an assist in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Campbell opened the scoring 5:05 into the game and he assisted on Cam Atkinson's third period goal. The 32-year-old hadn't registered a point since Dec. 4. This was his first multi-point game of the year. Campbell has three goals and eight points in 68 games this season.
Mar 11 - 10:00 PM

Gregory Campbell registered an assist in a 3-1 win over St. Louis Tuesday night.

Campbell snapped a four-game point drought, giving him four points in 19 contests. He's strictly a bottom-six forward and shouldn't be counted on to make regular offensive contributions.

Gregory Campbell picked two-thirds of the Gordie How Hattrick in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Kings.

Early on in the second period when the score was 2-1 Columbus, Campbell fought Andy Andreoff and picked up a bonus minor for roughing. Twenty-seven game minutes later, he was sealing the Blue Jackets' victory. Not a bad night. He now has three points and 23 PIMs in 14 games.
Fri, Nov 6, 2015 02:12:00 AM

Gregory Campbell has two assists in 12 games this season.

Campbell is a bottom-six forward, but he's solid in that role. He's not a good source of penalty minutes though and when you combine that with his low offensive output, your left with a player that shouldn't be on your radar in standard leagues.

Gregory Campbell signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets for two-years worth $3M.

The veteran Campbell won't light up the lamp much, having tallied just six goals and 12 points over 70 games last season. But Campbell's known for his defensive work, and ability to win face-offs. He won over 53% of his draws last season while blocking 41 shots, and through over a hundred hits (119) for the fifth time in six seasons.

Gregory Campbell won't be re-signed by the Bruins.

He has been told by the team that he'll be testing the open market as a free agent this summer. Campbell was scratched for the last two games of the year and he had 12 points in 70 outings.
Mon, Apr 13, 2015 03:42:00 PM

Gregory Campbell and Daniel Paille will be scratched from Saturday's regular season finale against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Unfortunately, with just 25 points in 141 combined games neither of these two veteran bottom-line forwards have any fantasy value.
