Matt Stajan had a goal and three points as the Calgary Flames advanced to the second round.
Stajan had the game winner and ended the six game series with four points, not too shabby for a bottom two center. "Things happen so quickly out there, and even when I go home, I’ll blink my eyes and still pinch myself not believing what just happened," Stajan said. "It’s one I’ll enjoy, especially for the next couple days." Apr 26 - 6:52 AM

Matt Stajan will participate in the NHL playoffs for only the second time in his career.

Stajan played in three playoff games for Toronto in the 2003-04 season, the year before the first lockout. He played another five seasons in Toronto without sniffing the post-season and has been a member of the Flames for the past five-plus seasons without tasting any playoff action. "It’s been tough going year after year where you fall short," Stajan said. "It’s not easy getting into the playoffs in this league. You have your top teams that seem to get in there every year and then it’s a dogfight for the last three or four spots for the rest of the league."

Matt Stajan scored twice in a 6-3 win against Anaheim.

That extended Stajan's point streak to four games. He has seven goals and 14 points in 44 contests this season.

Mar 12 - 10:49 AM

Matt Stajan scored his fifth of the season as he returned to action after missing two weeks for the birth of his son.

It was quite the return for the 31-year-old and celebratory at that as his goal tied the game at two before the Flames were on fire, scoring three more to win 5-2 over the Red Wings. Stajan has 11 points in 42 games this season so he should not be considered fantasy relevant.
Mar 7 - 1:50 AM

Matt Stajan has rejoined the Flames after spending time with his wife for the birth of their son.

Stajan probably won't play on Thursday against Boston, but Friday's contest seems likely. He has four goals and 10 points in 41 games in 2014-15.
Mar 5 - 9:25 AM

Matt Stajan has been moved to the non-roster list so that he's available for the birth of his child.

Calgary is playing in New York on Tuesday and Stajan won't participate in that game. It's not clear if he'll rejoin the team in time for Wednesday's contest versus the New Jersey Devils.
Feb 23 - 12:30 PM

Matt Stajan scored his fourth goal of the season in Calgary's 6-3 loss to Anaheim on Friday night.

Stajan slammed home the rebound off Joe Colborne's slick interception of Cam Fowler's ill-advised pass through the middle. And just like that, the Flames were up 1-0 with 5:10 to go in the first. Stajan played just 9:14 in the game with the goal being his only statistical contribution. He has 10 points in 41 games this season.
Feb 21 - 2:01 AM

Matt Stajan opened and closed the Flames' scoring in their 6-5 loss to the Panthers on Friday night.

Both goals were on the soft side, but then again, it was an 11-goal game. Stajan's first goal gave the Flames a 1-0 lead just 2:42 into the game, and his second tied the game at five with less than four minutes to go. Unfortunately it wasn't enough. Stajan now has three goals and seven points on the season.
Jan 10 - 1:12 AM

Matt Stajan, Corey Potter, and Brian McGrattan are all expected to be healthy scratches Friday night against the Stars.

Unfortunately, none of these three have any fantasy value.

Matt Stajan returned to game action on Saturday and picked up an assist.

Stajan missed 16 games with a knee injury and now has three points in 12 games this season. He revealed that his wife is seven months pregnant. That is great news for the Stajans as the two lost their newborn son Emerson in March. Our best wishes go out to the Stajans.

Look for Matt Stajan (knee) to return to Calgary's lineup on Saturday.

Stajan has missed the last 15 games and is slated to play with Brandon Bollig and Lance Bouma. Stajan had two points in 11 games before his injury and the Flames went 11-4 during his absence. We cannot recommend him at this time.

Matt Stajan (knee) won't return Thursday.

"Staje is not going," coach Bob Hartley said. "He's ready (but) we're working on his conditioning. It's a coach's decision right now." Stajan has two points in 11 games and he hasn't played since Oct. 28.

Matt Stajan (knee) is still a possibility for Thursday's game.

It would be Stajan's first contest since Oct. 28. He has a goal and an assist in 11 contests this season.

Matt Stajan was on the ice with the Calgary Flames on Monday for the first time since sustaining a knee injury.

Stajan hasn't played since Oct. 28. He will remain on the sidelines for Tuesday's contest, but might be back as early as Thursday. "Any time you're hurt, you're always anxious to get back and just slide right back into what's been going on … and get back into working shape," Stajan said. "It's one thing to skate on your own for the last week, but you haven't … been getting up to the pace of games and moving the puck. It was good to feel that (Monday). One day at a time — we'll talk to the coaches and the medical staff to see how everything reacts. So far, no issues."
