Matt Stajan (knee) has been placed on injured reserve by the Flames.

He's expected to miss about six weeks. Stajan had a knee-on-knee collision with Montreal's Jarred Tinordi on Tuesday night and it looked like he could be done for the year. He has one goal and one assist in 11 games.
Oct 29 - 6:39 PM

Matt Stajan (knee) wasn't able to return to the Flames' lineup before the end of Tuesday's game.

Stajan needed help to get off the ice after absorbing a knee-on-knee hit with Jarred Tinordi in the third period. The Flames didn't update his status after the game, so it's best to consider him day-to-day until more information surfaces.

Matt Stajan exited in the third period after taking a knee-on-knee hit with Jarred Tinordi.

Stajan was in obvious pain after the collision and had to be helped to get off the ice. It could be another tough blow for the Flames who had Joe Colborne leave the same game with an upper body injury. More updates when we have them.
Oct 29 - 1:53 AM

Matt Stajan scored a goal in Calgary's 5-0 victory on Thursday.

Stajan now has two points in nine games this season. Aside from his slow start, he's also not getting enough playing time to make it worth owning him in standard leagues.

Oct 24 - 10:10 AM

Matt Stajan was limited to just 8:00 minutes of ice time Calgary's season opener.

To be fair, Stajan did have to temporarily leave the game to get stitched up, but even then his playing time was lacking. We're concerned that he might not have a consistent role on a scoring line this season and will have little to no fantasy value as a result.
Oct 9 - 8:02 AM

It looks like Matt Stajan will start the season on Calgary's fourth line.

That's quite a step down after he averaged 18:22 minutes per game in 2013-14. Of course, odds are you didn't draft him anyways if you're in a standard league because even with that kind of ice time, he still recorded just 33 points in 63 games.
Oct 8 - 1:38 PM

Matt Stajan increased his point streak to four games with a goal in Calgary's 3-2 loss to Toronto on Tuesday night.

Stajan has two goals and two assists over the four game span. He has 31 points through 60 games this season, needing just one more point to eclipse his best output as a member of the Calgary Flames.
Apr 1 - 10:30 PM

Matt Stajan recorded an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Anaheim.

Stajan has 11 goals and 28 points in 57 games this season. He's been averaging 18:23 minutes per contest in 2013-14, which is the most he's logged since 2009-10.
Mar 27 - 8:41 AM

Matt Stajan dedicated his tremendous performance Saturday night to the newborn son he lost just a few weeks ago.

It was a touching moment for the Stajan family who had gone through such a tragedy. Stajan pointed to the heavens as he scored his goal in the Flames' 8-1 rout of the Oilers. Stajan also registered three assists to give him a four-point night to tie a career high. Stajan's teammates certainly acknowledged the special moment he enjoyed. "It's been a tough go for him, but they're a strong family," Curtis Glencross said. "Him and Katie have done a lot of praying and gone through a lot. I got a little choked up after his goal when he pointed up. You could see exactly what he was doing. He's not only a good player but an unbelievable person." Stajan himself had this to say: "That one means a lot. You know, it hasn’t been easy. That one’s for the little guy". Along with all hockey fans, we wish the Stajan family peace of mind.

Matt Stajan (personal) was told by the Calgary Flames that he should take as much time off as he needed, but he wanted to return.

Stajan is mourning the death of his newborn son, but after talking with his wife and taking a couple weeks off, they decided it was best for him to start moving forward. "Obviously, we're always going to remember and it never gets easy," Stajan said. "But you've got to move on and . . . this is another step forward." Stajan will play on Tuesday.
Mar 18 - 9:52 AM

To update an earlier item, Matt Stajan will be back in the lineup in Tuesday's game against Buffalo.

He has been out of action since Mar. 3 because of the death of his newborn son.
Mar 17 - 3:15 PM

Matt Stajan (personal) was back at practice on Monday.

It was his first time on the ice with his teammates since the death of his newborn son. Stajan has missed Calgary's last eight games, but his return suggests he could be ready to return to the lineup on Tuesday night.
Mar 17 - 12:39 PM

The Calgary Flames explained that Matt Stajan and his family have been grieving the loss of their son Emerson, who died on March 3.

Awful news for the Flames forward. No timetable was provided regarding when he might return, for understandable reasons.
Mar 9 - 5:29 PM

Matt Stajan (personal) has been out of the Calgary Flames lineup for the last four games.

Stajan last played on March 1. No reason has been given for his absence. Stajan has 10 goals and 23 points in 52 games this season with a minus-14 rating and has little to no fantasy value in traditional pools because of his plus/minus.
