Freddy Meyer has reportedly signed with MoDo of the Swedish Elite League.
He was limited to 15 games with the Atlanta Thrashers this past season due to injury and he was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Meyer's exodus to Europe shouldn't change your plans this off-season because he doesn't have any fantasy value. Tue, Jun 28, 2011 07:43:00 AM

It looks as if Freddy Meyer will not be back in Atlanta next season.

The unrestricted free agent did not really distinguish himself this season and the Thrashers have many better options on defense. At best, Meyer will catch on as a seventh rearguard with another NHL team. He has no fantasy value.

Freddy Meyer, who listed as out with an upper body injury, confirmed that he's been suffering from a concussion.

With Atlanta's season over, there's little motivation for the Thrashers players or management to withhold injury information. Meyer sustained the injury on February 3rd and he missed the remainder of the season because of it.

Freddy Meyer (upper body) is done for the season.

Thrashers coach Craig Ramsay doesn't expect Meyer to return before Atlanta's season ends on April 10th. Meyer had a goal and eight points in 15 games this season.

Freddy Meyer (upper body) won't play in Wednesday's contest.

Meyer hasn't played since he initially sustained the injury on February 3rd. He said that he isn't dealing with a concussion and instead attributed his absence to "other issues."

Freddy Meyer said he isn't suffering from a concussion, but he's still sidelined.

Meyer, who has missed four consecutive games, would only say that he's dealing with "other issues" as a result of the hits he endured on February 3rd. Meyers currently doesn't have a timetable for his return. Stay tuned.

The Atlanta Thrashers haven't ruled out the possibility that Freddy Meyer may be suffering from a concussion.

"I think that's something they are trying to be careful with and make sure that's not it," coach Craig Ramsay said. "It was a strange situation with Freddy and we want to make sure everything is done correctly. You can't take chances with anything like that. Freddy, when you talk to him, feels good but I don't think he feels 100 percent. We are going to make sure he's 100 percent." Meyer has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury after losing consciousness on Feb. 3 against Calgary. We'll keep you posted even though he has no fantasy value.

The Thrashers have placed defenseman Freddy Meyer on Injured Reserve.

By moving Meyer to the I.L., they free up a roster spot, which they have used to call up Spencer Machacek from Chicago.

Freddy Meyer was absent from practice on Wednesday.

He has not played since losing consciousness Thursday against Calgary and the team is being extra cautious with his return.

Freddy Meyer did not practice Friday and is under observation following his collapse on the ice during Thursday's game against Calgary.

The good news is that Meyer hasn't experienced any post-concussion symptoms. However, that could change. If for some reason you have Meyer on your fantasy squad, place him on reserve and leave him there until further notice.

Freddy Meyer didn't play in the third period because of an upper body injury.

Meyer's passed out after crashing into two Calgary players. "[Tim] Jackman and I rubbed each other out," Meyer said. "[Curtis] Glencross got the puck, and I collided with him. I just started to feel dizzy. I thought to myself I need to try to get to the bench, and the next thing I know I woke up on the ice and [trainer] Tommy [Alva] was there." The good news is that he didn't have a headache after the event, which is a sign of a possible concussion. We'll keep you posted.

Freddy Meyer scored his first goal of the season, but the Thrashers lost by a 4-1 score to the Islanders on Tuesday night.

Meyer's goal represented the only time Atlanta managed to light the lamp behind Islanders goalie Kevin Poulin in the losing effort. He has no fantasy value.

Blueliner Freddy Meyer played on a line with Bryan Little and Anthony Stewart on Thursday.

Meyer's might end up playing as a forward again on Saturday if Evander Kane (knee) is unavailable. Meyer is primarily a depth defenseman, but his willingness to also play as a forward might provide him with a little extra playing time.

Freddy Meyer might play as a forward on Wednesday if Bryan Little isn't available.

Meyer took Little's place on a line with Evander Kane and Anthony Stewart during Tuesday's practice. The Thrashers considered using Meyer as a forward last week, but that didn't end up happening.

Freddy Meyer might serve as a forward on Wednesday.

Meyer missed six straight games due to a mid-body injury and he's spent another four games in the press box since being activated from the injury reserve list. "We are going to look at bringing somebody up but I wouldn’t mind seeing Freddy up front," Thrashers coach Craig Ramsay said. "Freddy was playing very well for us when he got hurt and it would give us a seventh defenseman if something happened. I don’t see any reason Freddy couldn’t play up front in a game or two. He’s got the speed and the tenacity to play anywhere. If that happens, I would be pleased." Meyer skated on a line with Alexander Burmistrov and Chris Throburn during Tuesday's practice.
