Nikolay Zherdev reportedly was involved in an incident after signing with HC Lev Prague of the Kontinental Hockey League.

Zherdev allegedly was involved in a bar fight, lost his passport, and got into an accident with his Bentley. Prague GM Rashid Khabibulin said that the team will not be taking any disciplinary action against Zherdev. At one time Zherdev was a rising star in the NHL, but he moved to the KHL and then had a less than ideal NHL comeback in 2010-11. After heading back to the KHL, he expressed interest in eventually attempting another comeback.

NHL teams might just want to take a look at Nikolay Zherdev after his KHL team Atlant terminated his contract on Saturday.

Zherdev didn't develop the greatest reputation in the NHL, but his production was pretty solid for much of his time there, peaking with 61 points in 82 games during the 2007-08 season with Columbus. After a 74-point debut in 53 KHL contests in 2011-12, he struggled a bit between Atlant and Ak-Bars this past season. Still, he could be intriguing if the price is right.

He scored five goals, including two game winners, and added two assists in four games with Atlant last week to take home the honor. Zherdev is playing in his second straight year of KHL competition after a disappointing year with Philadelphia in 2010-11, but he hopes to return to the NHL at some point down the line.

Nikolay Zherdev plans to return to the NHL at some point.

He was asked if he was upset that his career in the league was over and he responded by saying, "I will be back there. I am sure of that!" Zherdev signed with a KHL club last week after he didn't get any firm offers from NHL teams. Perhaps he will spend a year or two in Russia before coming back, but we will keep you up to date when something is decided.

The Winnipeg Jets might be interested in signing Nikolay Zherdev.

Zherdev is open to signing with an NHL or KHL club. He played with the Philadelphia Flyers last season after spending the 2009-10 campaign in the KHL. Unfortunately, his return was less than ideal and he ended up with 16 goals and 22 points in 56 contests with the Flyers. That being said, he recorded 61 and 58 points in his last two years in the NHL before his one-year stint with Mytishchi Atlant, so he's still worth keeping an eye on.

A Russian newspaper MK is reporting that Nikolay Zherdev was arrested after he allegedly smashed his wife's Bentley with a metal rod and threatened her.

According to MK, police are looking into the wife's "complaint about the threat of murder. However, in the opinion of the officers of the law, there are not enough grounds to hold the hockey player responsible for this charge, because the athlete apparently doesn't have reasons to wish death to his wife." Flyers GM Paul Holmgren doesn't want to comment on the matter until he has had the chance to talk to Zherdev. Stay tuned.

Nikolay Zherdev's goal on Monday night against Buffalo was his first career playoff point.

He skated in seven postseason games for the New York Rangers in 2008-09, but couldn't get on the scoresheet despite 12 shots. Zherdev was a healthy scratch for the first two games versus the Sabres, so getting the winning goal must be an extra sweet feeling for him. He also cleared waivers in February and it looked like he wouldn't be on the Flyers anymore. Funny how things can work out sometimes.
