Milan Michalek (upper body) will not be in Ottawa's lineup when they take on Vancouver on Sunday.

Milan Michalek scored the Senators’ only goal in their 2-1 loss to Chicago.

Michalek scored shorthanded as referee Steve Kozari interfered with Hawks’ forward Brad Richards who was backchecking on the play. He has three points (one goal, two assists) in his last two outings. Milan Michalek was back on the ice Monday after he sat out three sessions last week with a hip flexor injury.

He still has high expectations of himself and he believes he can be a 30-goal scorer this season if he can stay healthy. Michalek skated in all 82 games last year, but he managed to generate just 17 goals and 39 points. He spent most of his playing time at five-on-five alongside Jason Spezza, who was traded to Dallas in the summer, last season. It's hard to envision him having much success this campaign unless he really clicks with David Legwand or gets promoted to the top line with Kyle Turris.

In this one, the Sens were trailing 3-1 before Alex Chiasson (shorthanded) and Ryan Dzingel scored in the third period. Shane Prince also netted a goal for Ottawa. Milan Michalek has re-signed with the Senators for three-years and $12 million.

After a disappointing season where he registered a mere 39 points in 82 games, Michalek might be poised for a bit of a bounce-back campaign. That said, he will no longer have Jason Spezza to play alongside of and that may temper the extent of his comeback.
