Ottawa forward Milan Michalek has been cleared to play in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Montreal Canadiens.

Michalek hasn't been able to play since March 21 because of an upper-body injury. The Senators' veteran was playing some of his best hockey when he was injured in a collision with Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Eric Brewer on March 21. He notched 13 goals and 34 points in 66 games during the regular season. Michalek "has been a real good player for us in the last while," Ottawa coach Dave Cameron said. "We really missed him when he was out. It's nice to get him back."

Apr 3 - 11:15 AM

Mar 26 - 12:13 PM

Milan Michalek (upper body injury) has been ruled out for Monday’s game against the Sharks.

Both Michalek and Matt Puempel suffered injuries in Saturday night’s game and will be unable to dress Monday. They will be replaced by Colin Greening and Zack Smith. It’s an unfortunate blow for a surging Senators team looking to make the playoffs as Michalek has 13 goals and 34 points in 66 games this season. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Mar 23 - 5:20 PM

Milan Michalek left Saturday's game against Toronto because of an upper-body injury.

Michalek never returned to the game. He should be considered day-to-day right now. The Senators are just one point behind the Boston Bruins for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Mar 22 - 12:23 PM

Milan Michalek produced a goal and two assists in Ottawa's 6-4 win over Boston on Thursday night.

The goal was the 200th of his career. He has racked up 18 points over his last 21 games. Michalek had a horrible start to the year, so his 13 goals 34 points in 65 games doesn't look that impressive. However, his vastly improved play since January should garner him some fantasy attention for the remainder of the season.
Mar 20 - 9:57 AM

Milan Michalek recorded two assists in a 3-2 win against Buffalo on Friday.

Michalek is only 30 years old, but his stock has fallen hard over the last couple of years. After reaching the 60-point mark for the second time in his career and setting a new person-best with 35 goals in 2011-12, he was limited to 39 points in 82 contests last season and has been held to just 11 goals and 17 assists in 58 games in 2014-15. That being said, he's not a bad gamble right now though as he's played a big role in the Senators' recent surge by scoring three goals and 11 points in his last 10 contests.

Feb 19 - 11:17 AM

Milan Michalek recorded two goals and an assist in Ottawa's 7-2 win over Edmonton on Saturday afternoon.

Michalek was a force to be reckoned with as he put away a power play goal early on in the first period to set the game's tone. He led all Senators shooters with six shots, plus two hits in over 21 minutes of ice time, and four minutes on special teams. He now has 10 goals and 20 points this season, with five goals and 14 points on the man advantage.
Feb 14 - 5:54 PM

Feb 11 - 10:43 AM

Milan Michalek is sick and will not participate in Saturday's game with Columbus.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau will start in his place. The 30-year-old Michalek has not been a very good fantasy player this year anyways with just 16 points in 46 games.
