Milan Michalek had a "maintenance day" on Sunday, but the Ottawa Senators said he'll be ready for Game 1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
It's been an up-and-down season for the winger after he broke out in 2011-12 because of injuries. It's worth noting that he's been connecting on a little less than seven percent of his shots in both the regular season (6.9) and playoffs (6.7) so a moderate breakout is plausible. May 12 - 1:16 PM

Milan Michalek tallied the lone goal for the Senators in their 3-1 loss in Game 2 of their first-round series with the Canadiens on Friday night.

Michalek's goal came at 8:16 of the second period, cutting the Sens' deficit to 2-1 for 10 minutes. The winger has never been great in the playoffs; in 48 playoff games, he has just 11 goals and 18 points, so this is certainly a good sign as this series continues. Chris Phillips and Andre Benoit picked up the assists on the goal. The Senators went 0-for-4 on the power play, and even though they finished with 30 shots, they had 34 more blocked.
May 3 - 10:40 PM

Milan Michalek will play with Kyle Turris and Daniel Alfredsson on Ottawa's top line to open the playoffs Thursday night.

He got a "maintenance day" from the team on Tuesday, but was back on the ice Wednesday. Michalek notched just four goals and 10 assists in 23 regular-season appearances, so he'll be looking to improve his play in the playoffs.
May 2 - 2:08 PM

Chris Phillips and Milan Michalek both sat out practice Tuesday in what the Senators termed a "maintenance day."

Phillips played in all 48 games this season while Michalek made just 17 appearances due to a knee injury. Both players are expected to be ready for Thursday's Game 1 against the Canadiens.
Apr 30 - 3:55 PM

Milan Michalek has tallied two goals in two games since his return to the lineup from a knee injury.

He has produced only four goals on the year, but he does have 12 points in 17 appearances. Michalek had one goal on eight shots and he amassed seven penalty minutes against Carolina, which included a fighting major versus Marc-Andre Bergeron late in the contest.
Apr 17 - 10:50 AM

Milan Michalek, who returned to action Friday night against New Jersey, showed good speed and a zip to his game.

Not too shabby considering he was coming back from knee surgery and had not played since March 8th. Michalek scored a crucial goal in the 2-0 win over the Devils and Sens' coach Paul MacLean was certainly happy that the veteran winger was able to play. "(Michalek) brings speed and veteran leadership and the ability to score," said MacLean. "He's been a very consistent player throughout this career. He's the type of player you can put on the ice in any situation, and he's a very valuable part of our team." If you have not already done so, get Michalek back in your lineup.

Milan Michalek potted a goal in the Senators' 2-0 win over the Devils Friday night.

It was Michalek's first game since March 8 after he suffered a setback coming back from a knee injury. With the goal tonight, Michalek now has 11 points in 16 games and is worth a look in 14-team leagues.
Apr 12 - 10:17 PM

The Ottawa Senators announced that Milan Michalek is "healthy and available to play" on Friday. Adjust your lineup accordingly.

The winger isn't a high-end sniper, but if you need a scoring boost, you could do worse than Zbynek Michalek's brother. Michalek is coming off of knee surgery, so it's possible that he could be a little rusty in his first game since March 8.
Apr 12 - 2:00 PM

Milan Michalek (knee) is "getting closer and closer" to rejoining the lineup, according to Senators coach Paul MacLean.

Sportsnet's Ian Mendes says Michalek has improved to the point where he just has to let the team know he's ready to go. Michalek has 10 points in 15 games this season.
Apr 8 - 8:21 PM

Milan Michalek underwent arthroscopic surgery on his ailing knee Tuesday and there is no timetable for his return.

Senators coach Paul MacLean said he's hopeful Michalek would be able to return for the playoffs, although that's far from a guarantee. Michalek tried to come back early from a knee injury earlier this season and said at the time offseason surgery was likely but that was before he aggravated the injury after only a couple games. Owners can safely drop him if they hadn't already.
Mar 19 - 12:37 PM

Ottawa coach Paul MacLean stated after Sunday's win over Winnipeg he doesn't expect winger Milan Michalek to travel with the team for Tuesday's game against the Islanders.

Michalek made a brief return from an earlier knee injury, but reportedly suffered a setback and now finds himself back on the shelf. His return date is unclear, but even once he returns his fantasy value is heavily impacted by that of Jason Spezza.
Mar 17 - 8:09 PM

Milan Michalek (knee) will not be able to return on Saturday or Sunday.

Michalek has only played in two games since Feb. 12. He has two goals and 10 points in 15 contests this season.
Mar 15 - 1:54 PM

The Ottawa Senators "don't anticipate" Milan Michalek will be available Wednesday night.

Michalek suffered a setback with his ailing knee and missed Monday's game against the Bruins. At least for now, this seems to be a day-by-day situation, but it's unlikely to end well. Stay tuned and we'll update you as soon as we know more.
Mar 12 - 2:07 PM

Milan Michalek won't be available to play Monday after suffering a bit of a setback with regard to his ailing knee.

It was revealed just before he came back that his knee wasn't completely healed and that he may require surgery when the season was over. However, for now the Senators are calling it a rest for maintenance and classifying it as a day-to-day issue.
Mar 11 - 12:21 PM

Milan Michalek will get back into Ottawa's lineup Wednesday night from a knee injury.

He has been out since Feb. 13 when his knee swelled up during a pre-game warmup at Pittsburgh. The Senators will be glad to get him back in the lineup even though he has just two goals and eight points in 13 games. The team has suffered through some key injuries this year, so getting a top-six forward back is encouraging. Michalek's knee issue has reportedly not completely gone away and he may need surgery after once the season is over.
