Dion Phaneuf scored Ottawa's first power-play in six games in a 3-0 win over New Jersey on Thursday night.

His ninth goal of the season late in the second period held up as the game winner. Surprisingly, Phaneuf has as many goals as Erik Karlsson right now, but he is 23 points behind the Senators captain. Karlsson also scored in Thursday's win.

Dion Phaneuf now has a mini-point streak going thanks to the marker he picked up in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Islanders.

Phaneuf picked up his 15th helper of the campaign, giving him 22 points on the season through 53 games. Don't be surprised if he cracks 30 points for the first time since 2013-14.

Dion Phaneuf scored a goal and dropped the gloves with Dallas captain Jamie Benn on Thursday night.

He opened the scoring in a 3-2 win for the Senators with a shorthanded blast. Thursday's contest marked the one-year anniversary of his trade to Ottawa. Phaneuf has seven goals and 21 points in 52 games.

In an effort to fit all of the players they want onto the protected list heading into Vegas' expansion draft, Ottawa is expected to request Dion Phaneuf to waive his no-movement clause.

Doing so would allow Ottawa to leave Phaneuf off their protected list, as his clause would otherwise force them to include him. Ottawa appears set on protecting Cody Ceci and Marc Methot along with Erik Karlsson. Exposing Phaneuf is a win-win for the Senators. Either they keep a veteran defender they're happy with, or lose his $7M cap hit from for the next four seasons. What Phaneuf wants in return for waiving his no-movement clause however is another question entirely.

The 31-year-old veteran blue liner has posted five goals and 15 points with 51 PIMs, 64 hits and 80 blocks. Pretty good all-around game.

Dion Phaneuf, who missed Saturday's practice due to an assortment of bumps and bruises, is probable for Sunday's game against Washington.

At least that's what Sens' coach Guy Boucher said Saturday. However, we note that Phaneuf is one of 10 players participating in Sunday's optional skate. That is usually a sign the player won't be playing that night. If you feel lucky keep Phaneuf active.

Dion Phaneuf picked up a goal and an assist in Ottawa's 4-3 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks.

Phaneuf helped set up Bobby Ryan's first period and he managed to score the go-ahead goal (3-2) on the power play at the 16:14 mark of the third frame. Unfortunately for the Sens, they were unable to close out the game and eventually lost in the fourth-round of the shootout. Phaneuf has four goals and eight assists in 30 games.

He scored Ottawa's third power-play goal of the night on five opportunities during the third period. Phaneuf has collected six of his 10 points in the past seven games.

Dion Phaneuf produced his first goal of the year in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over Carolina.

He tied the game at 1-1 after the Hurricanes opened the scoring just 34 seconds into the first period. Phaneuf has two points, 17 penalty minutes and 24 shots after nine contests this campaign.

Dion Phaneuf is enjoying his first training camp as a member of the Ottawa Senators.

"It’s a bonus for me to be here for the whole season," Phaneuf said before Friday’s exhibition finale against the Buffalo Sabres. "Last year, the guys made it a real easy transition (following the colossal trade from Toronto), but having said that, you’re still moving in the middle of the year, you’re picking up your life. Now, I’m moved into my house, I’m really enjoying the city. I’m very comfortable." The 31-year-old scored one goal and eight points in 20 games with the Sens last season.

Dion Phaneuf will be an alternate captain for the Senators this season during road games.

Kyle Turris will get to wear the 'A' on his jersey for home contests, while Chris Neil will serve as an alternate captain for the entire year. Phaneuf was the captain of the Maple Leafs before he was traded to Ottawa last season and his new team was quick to embrace him as a leader.

Dion Phaneuf will sit out the remainder of the 2015-16 regular season.

He has missed the last two games because of an oblique injury and soreness in his right foot. Phaneuf sustained a hairline fracture in his foot when he blocked a shot on Mar. 12 and further testing revealed the ailment after initial looks came back negative.
