Jeff Carter scored a pair of goals in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Carter scored a shorthanded goal at the 16:21 mark of first period to tie the game 1-1, and his second cut Detroit's lead to 3-2. Anze Kopitar, Alec Martinez, Tyler Toffoli and Jake Muzzin registered assists in the game. Carter has nine goals and 19 points in 19 games in 2015-16.

Carter now has 15 points in 14 games with a +9 rating. He is thriving on a line with Milan Lucic and Tyler Toffoli. At his current scoring pace, he will surpass his career high of 84 points set in 2008-09 as a member of the Flyers. Barring any injuries, he should hit 65 points this season. Drew Doughty, Milan Lucic, and Anze Kopitar also scored for the Kings.

When you shoot at the net, good things happen such as leading your team in points with 13. After scoring in just two of his first five games, Carter has scored in six of his last eight to accumulate all but two of his points.

Carter's exhilarating OT GWG came on his only SOG of the contest. This gives him four goals in 2015-16, helping the Kings win their eighth consecutive game.

It was part of a 25-of-66 night for the Kings (38 percent) but Jonathan Quick stopped all 40 shots as LA beat the Hurricanes 3-0. The Kings have won 48.9 percent of their faceoffs this season, good for 22nd place in the NHL. Carter was pointless Friday but had a monster game Thursday with two goals and a couple of helpers. He has six points in seven games and should be on someone's roster in all pools.

Believe it or not, Carter came into the game with no goals and two points through the first five games of the season. Take this excellent effort, which includes a power play goal and assist, as a sign he may be breaking out of his slump.

Jeff Carter tallied two more goals during Thursday's 8-2 win over the Oilers, giving him 28 on the season.

Carter needs just two more goals to reach the 30-goal plateau for the first time since 2010-11 when he was with the Flyers, it would fifth time in his career doing so. While there isn't always a lot to talk about in a blow-out, Carter's second goal was actually quite nice as he batted his own rebound into the net mid-stride. He continues to lead the team in goals this season, and ranks second in points with 58.

Jeff Carter scored his team leading 25th goal of the year in a 3-2 overtime loss to Anaheim on Wednesday.

The Kings have struggled to score goals down the stretch but that hasn't applied to Carter personally who has seven goals in nine games. It is the seventh time in 10 seasons that Carter has hit the 25 goal mark. Needless to say, he is a fantasy star just about every year. Justin Williams scored the other goal for LA in a losing cause.

Carter tickled the twine at 7:44 of the first period, to give the Kings a lead that would last for two periods. He has three goals over his past five games. The goal gives him more points (51) than he had last season, and the most he’s recorded since 2010-11 when he posted 66 with the Flyers. Andrej Sekera and Drew Doughty got the assists.
