That gave the Kings a fighting chance, but they couldn't build on it and ultimately the Sharks finished the contest with an empty-net goal. Carter had a minus-one rating in 17:23 minutes of ice time in a 2-1 loss to Calgary. "I'm sure he's going to say he had a hard time tonight," Kings Coach Darryl Sutter said. "But he gutted it out." Carter has 10 goals and 27 points in 37 contests in 2014-15.

Jeff Carter recorded his fifth career four-point game on Thursday night as the Kings beat the Blues 6-4.

Carter's lone goal tied the game up at four just 20 seconds into the third period. Martin Brodeur simply couldn't get over into to prevent the one-timer from going in. Carter now leads the team in assists with 16 and points with 24 in 33 games this season. He has yet to have a five-point game.

Jeff Carter notched his seventh goal of the season on the power-play and added an assist in the Kings 5-2 win over Florida on Tuesday.

Carter was one of 11 Kings players to factor in on the scoring in this blowout. Anze Kopitar and Brayden McNabb each picked up two assists while Marion Gaborik scored his third of the campaign. Even Matt Greene and Robyn Regehr got in on the action with rare goals.

The Los Angeles Kings shuffled their lines on Friday in practice and Jeff Carter found himself on a line with Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik.

Carter's spot on the second line was taken by Mike Richards as he centered Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson while the third unit consisted of Justin Williams with Jarret Stoll and Dustin Brown. Kyle Clifford, Trevor Lewis and Jordan Nolan made up the fourth line. These could be the lines coach Darryl Sutter goes with to start the game Saturday against Anaheim.

On paper it looked like this game might be a blowout, but the Sabres kept it close. Carter opened the scoring on the power play just 36 seconds into the game. Carter now has four goals and four assists in seven games this season. The 29-year-old picked up his assist on Anze Kopitar’s goal in the third period. Carter has been off the charts so far this season, and there’s no reason to think he can’t continue to produce solid offensive numbers.
