Brent Seabrook picked up a goal and added an assist in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime loss to St. Louis.

Seabrook extended his point streak to seven straight games. He has three goals and seven helpers during that span. His scoring spree started in the first game that the Blackhawks played without injured blueliner Duncan Keith.
Nov 5 - 9:16 AM

Brent Seabrook notched a goal and two assists in Chicago's 3-2 win against Florida on Thursday night.

He soaked up 7:44 of power-play time in the match because of Duncan Keith's knee injury. Seabrook got his second goal with the man advantage this season and he set up a power-play marker by Patrick Kane just 17 seconds into the third period. He should get a nice boost while Keith is sidelined.

After signing an eight-year contract extension worth $55 million on Saturday, Brent Seabrook said he's proud to be part of the Blackhawks' organization.

"I’m proud to be a Blackhawk, I’d like to spend my whole career here," he said following the Hawks’ 3-1 preseason victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night. "It’s up to me to fulfill my end of the bargain and go from there. I’m looking forward to the challenge, and I’m really excited to be here." Locking up Seabrook long-term was a no-brainer for the Blackhawks organization. The 30-year-old had eight goals and 31 points in 82 games last season, but his value is measured in more ways than just scoring.
Sep 27 - 10:18 AM

Brent Seabrook’s eight-year extension is worth $55 million, according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

The deal carries an average annual value of $6.875 million. "I think everyone knows what Brent brings to the table," Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman said. "His leadership is something that now, we see it with the letter on his jersey, but for the people close to the team, they've known for a long time Brent's been one of the main leaders of this group." Seabrook is a better real-life player than fantasy one; he posted eight goals and 31 points in 82 games last season.
Sep 26 - 11:33 PM

Brent Seabrook and the Blackhawks have agreed to an eight-year contract with an average annual value of "approximately" $6.85 million, according to HNIC's Elliotte Friedman.

The contract carries Seabrook through his age-38 season, so it does have some risk. In the meantime, he will continue to be a workhorse on the Blackhawks blue line. Seabrook had 31 points last season, and he was about to start the last season of a five-year, $29 million contract.
Sep 26 - 7:44 PM

Brent Seabrook was named as a Hawks' alternate captain on Thursday.

He joins Joanthan Toews and Duncan Keith as Chicago players with a letter on their jerseys. Seabrook takes the place of Patrick Sharp, who was traded to Dallas this past offseason. On the appointment, Seabrook, who is currently negotiating a long-term deal to stay in Chicago said " I’m very honored to wear a letter for the Chicago Blackhawks". Seabrook will once again form part of the Hawks' first defenseman paring at equal strength and on the powerplay and should register about 40 points.
Sep 19 - 10:54 AM

Brent Seabrook and the Chicago Blackhawks are working on a long-term contract extension.

While there's no word yet on term or amount, it's worth noting that the 30-year-old defender is coming off a five year contract that dinged the cap $5.8M per. Seabrook has also been a steady force on Chicago's blue line, averaging over 22 minutes of ice time and about half a point per game for his career in both the regular season and the playoffs.
Sep 17 - 10:23 PM

The Chicago Blackhawks are committed to keeping Brent Seabrook long-term.

According to Sportsnet's Elliott Friedman, don't be surprised if the Hawks make Seabrook's contract a top priority in the next couple of weeks. Seabrook can be an unrestricted free-agent after next season, but Stan Bowman has already said that he wants to keep the big defenseman. The 30-year-old is very valuable to the Blackhawks, but even if he takes less money to stay, he will eat up a good chunk of cap space. With so much money committed to Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith and others, it may not be possible for the Hawks to keep everybody.
Jun 28 - 10:00 PM

With his goal in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, Brent Seabrook set a new franchise record for goals scored by a defenseman in a single playoff run.

Seabrook's seventh goal of the postseason was a big one, as he tied the game at 3-3 in the third period. Unfortunately for the Hawks, they were unable to win the game. Chris Chelios set the previous record in 1992.
Jun 7 - 11:52 AM

Brent Seabrook scored for the Blackhawks, who fell 4-3 in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final to the Lightning on Saturday night.

Seabrook, whose 28:43 was nine seconds off Duncan Keith’s 28:52 for the team high, scored his seventh goal of the playoffs and fourth goal in six games. He has 11 points in the playoffs. Andrew Shaw and Teuvo Teravainen picked up the other goals. The Cup Final is now tied at one game apiece.
Jun 6 - 10:13 PM

Brent Seabrook is having a strong playoff campaign with the Hawks, currently leading all of the team's defensemen with six goals.

The 30-year-old blueliner may be overshadowed by Conn Smythe favorite Duncan Keith, but the Hawks rely heavily on Seabrook as well. He's averaging 26:21 minutes per game and has 10 points in total. He owns a plus-six rating and has provided strong leadership on the highly experienced Chicago roster.
Jun 4 - 10:29 PM

Brent Seabrook contributed a goal and an assist in Game 5 against Anaheim.

His fifth goal of the playoffs came in the second period and his fourth assist came on Jonathan Toews' game-tying marker late in the third. The Blackhawks lost the match just 45 seconds into overtime, but it was a valiant effort after a tough start. Chicago will have to win on Wednesday to force Game 7 or else the Ducks will be playing in the Stanley Cup Final.
May 26 - 10:54 AM

Brent Seabrook thinks how Chicago starts in Game 5 will be a big factor in determining their finish.

"We've got to come out with a good effort off the start," Seabrook said. "I think our starts have been key. When we start well, we usually give ourselves a chance to have a good game and get a win. That's going to be tomorrow's theme, I'm sure: getting off to a good start and trying to do some good things in a hostile building in Anaheim." Chicago is 7-1 in the playoffs when they score first and 3-3 when they surrender the opening marker. The Blackhawks are also 5-0 when leading through 20 minutes.

Brent Seabrook scored a goal in Saturday's 5-4 double overtime win over the Anaheim Ducks.

The two teams combined for five goals in what was a crazy third period. Seabrook scored at the 7:38 mark of the third frame to extend the Hawks' lead to 3-1, but Anaheim responded quickly by scoring three goals in 37 seconds to take a 4-3 lead. The Hawks eventually tied the game on a goal by Patrick Kane, and Antoine Vermette scored the game-winner in the second period of overtime. The 30-year-old has four goals and seven points in 14 games.
