Steve Bernier has five goals and six points in the Devils' last six games.

Bernier has eight goals and 16 points in 35 contests in 2014-15 after being limited to just 12 points in 78 games last season. "For whatever reason I think he was trying too hard," Devils GM and interim coach Lou Lamoriello noted. "We pushed him up in the lineup a little bit and I think he was pressing. Now, he's very comfortable no matter where he goes. He's not trying to do too much." Bernier has been a solid bottom-six forward for New Jersey in 2014-15, but we can't recommend him in standard leagues at this time.

Bernier got his start with the Sharks after they took him with the 16th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Bernier has taken advantage of the opportunity by scoring three goals in three games.

Steve Bernier picked up two power play goals and recorded a team high six shots in the Devils' 5-3 win over the Kings on Wednesday.

A healthy scratch on numerous occasions this season, Bernier had his first multiple goal game of the year. He doesn't have fantasy value in season long leagues but he does as a cheap option in DFS if he is playing on the power play. Bernier has 12 points in 30 games. He was one of nine Devils to record a point as Scott Gomez, Michael Cammalleri and Michael Ryder each picked up two points in the offensive explosion.

He crashed into the boards on a hit attempt during the third period and is listed as doubtful for Friday's contest against Montreal. "He's much, much better and it looks like he's OK," GM Lou Lamoriello said. "What happened was his leg went dead on him the way he hit a nerve. I don’t know the explanation, but he lost feeling in the one side. So, he's OK. He was here this morning and got treatment, but he's going to be fine. So, that was good news."

Steve Bernier notched the only goal for the Devils, who fell 3-1 to the Rangers on Saturday night.

Three new coaches, same results for the Devils, who continue to struggle to sustain any offense. Bernier’s goal was his third of the season, and he has 10 points, so he’s not worth looking at in fantasy leagues. Eric Gelinas and Tuomo Ruutu got the helpers.
