Ryan Getzlaf had surgery as a result of a fractured zygomatic bone.
Getzlaf has already missed three games due to the facial injury and he won't be back in the near future. Exactly how long he'll be sidelined for remains to be seen, but it could be as long as two months. With Ryan Kesler also sidelined, the Ducks are now without two of their three highest paid forwards. Nov 6 - 4:16 PM

Ryan Getzlaf (face) has been placed on injured reserve.

Getzlaf suffered a facial injury on Sunday when he was struck by the puck. He won't play in at least Anaheim's next three games and will be re-evaluated on Monday.
Oct 31 - 2:17 PM

Ryan Getzlaf was forced to leave Sunday's game after the first period with a facial injury.

Getzlaf got hit by the puck under the eye on the first shift of the game and while he returned to action and finished the first, his night was done after that. "We just felt it was in our best interest, before he can be evaluated by our doctors to see what the issues are, that we would sit him," coach Randy Carlyle said. "He didn’t feel comfortable going out there. So (he) couldn’t play." Getzlaf has played in only six games thus far this season with a goal and seven points. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Oct 30 - 7:00 AM

Ryan Getzlaf left Sunday night's game against Carolina with an upper-body injury.

Getzlaf was hit in the face by a puck early in the contest and logged only 4:18 of ice time before leaving for good. He was appearing in just his sixth game this season because of injuries. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Oct 29 - 7:16 PM

Ryan Getzlaf notched three assists in a 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.

Getzlaf assisted on the Ducks first two goals before adding a third on Richard Rakell's second goal of the evening in the third period. It was his third multi-point effort of the season. Since returning from injury, he hasn't lost a beat for the Ducks.

Oct 28 - 9:51 PM

Ryan Getzlaf scored his first goal of the season and added an assist in his return to the lineup as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 6-2 on Tuesday night.

Getzlaf had been out with a lower-body injury since October 11th and had been limited to only two games so far this season. His goal wasn't a pretty one, but came at the start of the third period to extend the Ducks' lead and put the game out of reach. He also assisted on Rickard Rakell's second period marker. He now has a goal and three assists for four points in three games.
Oct 24 - 9:43 PM

Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) will be back in the lineup on Tuesday at Philadelphia.

Getzlaf has been limited to two games this season and he hasn't played since Oct. 11 because of a lower-body injury. He was skating between Corey Perry and Rickard Rakell over the weekend. Get him back in your lineup.
Oct 23 - 1:02 PM

Ryan Getzlaf (lower-body) was skating on the top line alongside Corey Perry and Rickard Rakell on Saturday.

It looks like the imminent return of Ryan Getzlaf will push Rakell back to the wing. The Ducks don't play again until Tuesday, leaving Getzlaf with a few extra days to heal up. He has two points in two games this season and should be in all lineups when he returns from his injury.
Oct 21 - 2:41 PM

Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) is considered "very doubtful" for Friday's game.

There was some hope that Getzlaf might be able to take part in Thursday's practice, but he went through treatment instead. He last played on Oct. 11.
Oct 19 - 5:08 PM

Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) might resume practicing on Thursday.

That would be a big step forward for Getzlaf, who has missed two straight games. It's possible that he'll be able to return on Friday, but we wouldn't count on that happening.
Oct 19 - 4:15 AM

Ryan Getzlaf is not practicing with his teammates as he continues to recover from a lower-body injury.

Not being able to practice is usually a good indicator in whether or not a player is ready to return to game action or not. Right now, we'd bet against the Ducks captain being ready tomorrow night against the Sabres. He has two points in two games this season.
Oct 14 - 3:41 PM

It is unclear if Ryan Getzlaf will be able to dress for Sunday's game against the Sabres.

He missed Friday night's contest with a lower-body injury and is listed as day-to-day. Check back with us closer to game time Sunday for an update on Getzlaf's condition.
Oct 14 - 12:05 PM

Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) won't play against the Avalanche on Friday night.

Getzlaf is considered day-to-day at this point. The Ducks captain has no goals and two assists in two games this season.
Oct 13 - 8:53 PM

Ryan Getzlaf posted two assists with a plus-1 rating, two blocked shots and a hit in Wednesday's game against the Islanders.

Getzlaf, like the rest of his teammates, was blanked in his season debut on Monday night against the Flames. This is more like it. The All-Star is usually good for 15-20 goals and a point total in the neighborhood of 70-75 points. He is also very durable, so don't expect him to miss much more time.
