Ryan Getzlaf did not score in his last 11 playoff games.

The Ducks needed some scoring from their top pivot but he was unable to oblige as Anaheim lost Game 7 on Saturday. He did manage his 18th assist and 20th point of the post-season so if you had him in your playoff pool, you weren't too disappointed with his production.

Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau seemed impressed by Ryan Getzlaf's willingness to throw himself under the bus after Game 6.

Getzlaf suggested that he was terrible in Anaheim's 5-2 loss and put a lot of the blame for that defeat on himself. He certainly didn't have a good game, but he wasn't the only factor in the Ducks' loss either. "Good leaders, what they do is they take the brunt of the criticism to save a lot of their other teammates," Boudreau said. "I think Ryan made a couple mistakes, like a lot of other guys did. But he was up front, and he’s taking the bullet for everybody else."

Ryan Getzlaf didn't like the way he played in Game 6 of the Western Conference Final.

"It started with me," Getzlaf said after Anaheim's 5-2 loss to Chicago on Wednesday night. "I was terrible." He didn't have a point, attempted only four shots, lost 11 of 15 faceoffs and finished with a minus-3 rating. Getzlaf has amassed 19 points in 15 games this playoffs and he's played very well even though he hasn't scored a goal since Game 1 of the second round against Calgary. He will look to rebound in Game 7 on Saturday night.

The Anaheim Ducks have only received nine power plays to Chicago's 17 in the Western Conference Final.

Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf was asked if the Ducks were being forced into penalties or just being careless, to which he replied, "I have to be careful how I answer this. You didn't mention what I think it is." If he needs to be careful with his answer, then odds are he thinks the officiating itself is to blame. It's worth noting that Chicago's one of the most disciplined teams in the league while the Ducks were in the top 10 in minor penalties taken in the regular season, so the fact that Chicago has received more power-play opportunities isn't surprising. The fact that the disparity is nearly 2:1 is unexpected though.

Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf is unleashing his underrated shot more often, which is great news to Bruce Boudreau.

Getzlaf has 34 SOG in 12 playoff games, even with zero in Game 3. That's not far off from three SOG per game (2.83), which is a heavier pace than the 191 he had in 77 regular season games (2.48). Boudreau admits he sometimes wants to "wring his neck" for not shooting more often, as it can be quite a weapon for the power forward (even if he's only getting assists in this series).
May 23 - 6:34 PM

Ryan Getzlaf's pair of assists powered the Ducks by the Hawks on enemy territory in Thursday night's Game 3.

Getzlaf now has a whopping 16 points in 12 playoff games, 14 of those have been assists. He was also out on the ice for most of the final minute to secure the narrow victory for Anaheim. Getzlaf has 92 points in 94 career playoff games.
May 21 - 11:15 PM

Ryan Getzlaf earned an assist in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday.

His 11th helper of the playoffs came on Jakob Silfverberg's empty-net goal in Anaheim's 4-1 win against Chicago. Getzlaf is tied for second second in the postseason in scoring, with 13 points in 10 games, and he leads all skaters with 11 assists.

Ryan Getzlaf celebrated his 30th birthday on Sunday.

He posted five shots and won 14 of his 27 faceoffs in Game 5 against Calgary. Getzlaf didn't pick up a point in the match, but his Ducks will meet Chicago in the Western Conference Finals. He has two goals and 10 assists in nine playoff games.

Ryan Getzlaf is a finalist for the Mark Messier Leadership Award.

The Ducks captain helped lead his club to its second consecutive Western Conference title in 2014-15. Getzlaf is also involved in the community of Orange County, where his annual Getzlaf Golf Shootout helped raise more than $300,000 for CureDuchenne. He is also part of the Learn to Play Program, which offers free hockey classes for 4-12 year olds. Messier chooses the winner for the award after making his selections and it goes "to the player who exemplifies great leadership qualities to his team, on and off the ice, during the regular season."

Ryan Getzlaf collected a pair of assists in Anaheim's 4-3 overtime loss to Calgary in Game 3.

He had a helper in goals by Corey Perry and Patrick Maroon to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead after the first period. Getzlaf is first in the postseason with 10 assists and second with 12 points after just seven games.
May 6 - 9:48 AM

Ryan Getzlaf had two assists in Anaheim's 3-0 win over Calgary on Sunday.

Getzlaf has two goals and 10 points in six playoff contests so far. That's an incredible start and one of the reasons Anaheim is 6-0 so far in the playoffs. If the Flames want to bounce back after dropping the first two games of their series, they have to find a way to minimize Getzlaf and linemate Corey Perry's impact.
May 4 - 9:11 AM

Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and three assists in Anaheim's 6-1 victory over Calgary.

The Ducks picked up right were they left off after sweeping the Winnipeg Jets in the first round. Getzlaf has been great in the playoffs so far with two goals and eight points in six contests. He also surpassed the 80-point milestone for career postseason points and now sits at 82 in 86 contests.

When Ryan Getzlaf in Calgary during the second round series, there will be a banner raised in his honor.

Getzlaf got the banner in the Scotiabank Saddledome in honor of his work with the Calgary Hitmen. He spent four seasons with the WHL squad and was the first recipient of the "Forever a Hitmen" honor. Kelly Kisio, the Hitmen's president of operations, confirmed that the banner will remain up even for the duration of Anaheim's second round series against the Flames. "Do you really want to get him mad?" Kisio said. "Maybe just leave it up there and hopefully he's looking at that more than the Flames."
