Ryan Getzlaf had two assists in Anaheim's 3-0 win over Calgary on Sunday.

Getzlaf has two goals and 10 points in six playoff contests so far. That's an incredible start and one of the reasons Anaheim is 6-0 so far in the playoffs. If the Flames want to bounce back after dropping the first two games of their series, they have to find a way to minimize Getzlaf and linemate Corey Perry's impact.

Getzlaf got the banner in the Scotiabank Saddledome in honor of his work with the Calgary Hitmen. He spent four seasons with the WHL squad and was the first recipient of the "Forever a Hitmen" honor. Kelly Kisio, the Hitmen's president of operations, confirmed that the banner will remain up even for the duration of Anaheim's second round series against the Flames. "Do you really want to get him mad?" Kisio said. "Maybe just leave it up there and hopefully he's looking at that more than the Flames."

Ryan Getzlaf scored a power play goal and had two assists in Thursday's 4-2 Game One victory over the Jets.

Apr 12 - 12:18 AM

It looks like Ryan Getzlaf will be back in the Anaheim lineup on Saturday.

The center was given the last two games off to rest before the playoffs and with the Ducks schedule, it has meant that he has not played since April 1. It has been a good rest for Getzlaf but it's now back to work with the NHL playoffs starting on Friday. The Ducks dropped both contests with Getzlaf on the sidelines. "It was frustrating to watch," Getzlaf said. "Any time you’re out of the lineup and the team is struggling, it’s a hard thing for me to watch. But we've had a couple of good days of practice now and whatever happens happens. We just have to go out and play again. It’s not really about the result as much as the effort we put in and the game play we execute." Getzlaf has 24 goals and 68 points this season and should be a high first round pick in playoff pools if you think the Ducks are going deep.
Apr 11 - 4:45 AM

Ryan Getzlaf was held out of Wednesday's game.

Getzlaf was simply resting according to Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau. At the same time, Getzlaf has now missed two games in a row and Boudreau noted that "we want to make sure he's 100 percent when we go into the playoffs." It might be that Getzlaf is dealing with a nagging injury that he's capable of playing through, but isn't for the sake of being in the best possible position for the playoffs. Either way, he should be expected to participate in the postseason opener.
Apr 9 - 10:35 AM

Ryan Getzlaf did not play on Friday as coach Bruce Boudreau gave him the night off.

The Ducks have already clinched the Pacific Division and are the odds-on-favorites to win the President's Cup which goes to the team that has the most points in the regular season so the extra rest will not hurt Getzlaf as the team heads into the playoffs. Getzlaf is tied for 14th overall in the NHL in points with 68, including 44 goals. He should be a very high pick in most playoff drafts this season.
Apr 4 - 3:49 AM

Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau thinks Ryan Getzlaf should be in the running for the Hart Trophy.

"I certainly would vote for him, but at the same time, the Canadian media – and there’s a little more of them – will be going for Carey Price," Boudreau said. "If I'm looking at what we've done, what we've accomplished, who our leader is every night then Ryan Getzlaf is the guy." Statistically, Getzlaf is a hard sell. He has 24 goals and 68 points in 75 games, which is certainly good, but there are 11 forwards with more points than him. In addition to Price, Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, and John Tavares are among those that are serious contenders for the award.
Apr 1 - 9:01 AM

Ryan Getzlaf scored a goal and added an assist to help the Ducks slide by a desperate Bruins team 3-2 on Thursday night.

Getzlaf has seven points in his past eight games since being slowed by a four-game pointless drought. The star center has 68 points in 73 games this season and is a +14 with 58 penalty minutes.
