Ryan Getzlaf apparently was dealing with a right ankle injury since March 3, according to Anaheim Ducks GM Bob Murray.
That's pretty amazing considering Getzlaf had nine goals and 28 points combined in the months of March and April. He then followed that up with three goals and six points in seven games in the playoffs, which tied for the team lead with defenseman Francois Beauchemin. Getzlaf should be 100 percent by training camp in September and is one of the better fantasy centermen in the league. May 14 - 2:42 PM

Ryan Getzlaf was not upset as he was not one of three finalists for the Hart Trophy.

The nominees were all from the Eastern Conference as Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and John Tavares were named the finalists despite the great seasons that Jonathan Toews of Chicago and Getzlaf had. "We were pretty well aware that it was going to be all East this year," Getzlaf said. "That's just the way it is. The only time the media in the East sees anyone in the West is when we play them. You're not going to see our games. The media isn't staying up to 1, 2 in the morning to watch our games during the season." The Eastern and Western Conference did not meet at all this season as the 48 game shortened season meant that teams only played within their own conference. Getzlaf had 15 goals and 49 points in 44 games after only 11 goals and 57 points in 82 games last season.
May 12 - 6:48 AM

The Anaheim Ducks are getting ready for Game 6 Friday night.

"I expect a strong effort out of both sides," center Ryan Getzlaf said. "It's either win or go home for them. We know we're going to get their best. We've got be prepared to put ours on the ice. Knowing our group, I have strong faith in our group that they're going to show up tomorrow and be ready to compete." Anaheim has a 3-2 series lead, so they'll get two chances to finish off Detroit. The Ducks are looking to advance beyond the first round for the first time since 2009.
May 10 - 8:53 AM

Ryan Getzlaf found the back of the net on Wednesday.

Getzlaf now has three goals and five points in five postseason games. He's played a big role in the Ducks gaining a 3-2 edge on Detroit in their first-round series. The Ducks have a chance to end their series on Friday.
May 9 - 8:47 AM

Ryan Getzlaf downplayed the Anaheim Ducks' home ice advantage as they get ready for Game 5 of their 2-2 series against Detroit.

Both teams have taken one game on the road. "The fact is, the games are all intense and the stakes are high," Getzlaf said. "Obviously it's been back and forth in every game. We have to be ready." If Detroit wins Wednesday night, then they'll be the first team to earn back-to-back victories in this series.
May 8 - 6:19 PM

Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and an assist in Anaheim's 4-0 victory Saturday night.

Nick Bonino netted the game-winning goal at 15:29 of the second period. Emerson Etem and Matt Beleskey accounted for the Ducks' other two markers. Saku Koivu, Corey Perry, Bobby Ryan, and Teemu Selanne each registered an assist for Anaheim. Francois Beauchemin led the team with 24:24 minutes of ice time and blocked four shots.
May 4 - 10:44 PM

Ryan Getzlaf scored a goal in Anaheim's 5-4 overtime loss Thursday.

Getzlaf's goal at 7:50 of the third period made the game 4-2 and started the Ducks late rally to send the game into overtime. Their efforts ultimately didn't change the outcome of this game though and they will now head to Detroit with the series tied 1-1.
May 3 - 9:00 AM

Anaheim Ducks coach Bruce Boudereau called Ryan Getzlaf the "straw that stirs the drink on our team."

Getzlaf, the Ducks' captain, signed an eight-year contract extension during what's become a comeback year for him. Getzlaf scored 15 goals and 49 points in 44 games this season only one year after scoring just 11 goals and 57 points in 82 contests. "I just believe he's our leader. Our big centerman. He creates the most points," Boudreau said. " ... He's not the young kid that played the last time they won the Cup. This is his time right now."
Apr 30 - 8:22 AM

Ryan Getzlaf chipped in two assists in the Ducks’ regular season finale loss to the Coyotes Saturday night.

Despite the 5-3 loss, Getzlaf buffed his stats up from a memorable season that saw him notch 49 points and sign a mega long term extension with Anaheim.
Apr 28 - 6:47 AM

The Anaheim Ducks won't feature Ryan Getzlaf, Saku Koivu or Teemu Selanne in their lineup Thursday night at Vancouver.

Fantasy owners won't be pleased with coach Bruce Boudreau for this decision, but from a team perspective it makes sense since they have nothing to play for with the regular season drawing to a close and the playoffs on the horizon. Giving them a rest down the stretch to recharge, in what has been a strange year because of the lockout, isn't a bad idea.
Apr 25 - 3:12 PM

Ryan Getzlaf might spend one of the Ducks' final two games in the press box.

Anaheim has nothing left to play for before the postseason starts, and Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau wants to give some of his players a breather. Getzlaf has 15 goals and 47 points in 43 games this season.
Apr 25 - 8:41 AM

The Anaheim Ducks played pool on Sunday instead of their usual practice.

The Ducks have been slumping of late and it was thought that the move could relax the team. It did as the Ducks beat Edmonton 3-1 Sunday night. "We thought it was very important that we got together as a group and loosen up a little bit," captain Ryan Getzlaf said. "We were squeezing sticks. (It was) just kind of groundhog's day every day, coming in and watching video of us not playing well. Guys did a very good job responding to things we thought was appropriate yesterday." The Ducks are comfortably in second place in the Western Conference and need only two points in their remaining three games to clinch the spot on their own.
Apr 22 - 5:14 AM

Ryan Getzlaf scored the Ducks lone goal, his 14th of the season, in the second period of a tough 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

In four games this April the Ducks captain has six points already and 44 overall on the season.
Apr 14 - 6:24 AM

Ryan Getzlaf returned from a lower body injury on Wednesday.

Getzlaf missed three games due to the ailment. He had a minus-one rating in 19:21 minutes of playing time.
Apr 11 - 8:50 AM

Ryan Getzlaf will take part in the pregame warmup Wednesday, so it's probable that he'll play against Colorado.

"He feels good. What else can you say? He wants to play," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He feels he's capable of playing. I don't know if anybody's 100 percent this at time of the year, but I mean, he said, 'I can skate. I can shoot, and I can do that.' So we'll see how it goes." He did not participate in the team's regular line rushes and he'll officially be listed as a game-time decision.
