Ryan Getzlaf scored a goal and registered an assist in Anaheim's 3-2 win over Dallas in Game 2 Friday night.
Getzlaf, who welcomed his third child, daughter Willa, early Friday morning, nearly 24 hours after he received numerous stitches for a deep laceration on his face from a Tyler Seguin slap shot in Game 1, was the best player in Game 2. He now has four points in two playoffs game this season. Andrew Cogliano scored a shorthanded goal for the Ducks, while Corey Perry also scored in the win. Ryan Getzlaf and his wife Paige welcomed a new baby girl, Willa, to the world on Friday morning.

Getzlaf has had a long two days since the Ducks' Game 1 win over Dallas, as he is also recovering from a slap shot to the face. Anaheim's captain will indeed be in the lineup for Friday night's Game 2 though, and might get a boost from the newest member of his family. After his wife gave birth to their first child Ryder during the 2010-11 season, Getzlaf notched an assist the next night and five points over the next four games.

The Anaheim Ducks were naturally relived when X-rays taken on Ryan Getzlaf's face came back negative.

Getzlaf was struck by the puck late in Wednesday's game, but will be able to play on Friday. "It's your leader," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "Your captain. When Sidney Crosby went down with his broken jaw, I'm sure all the Penguins were going, 'Oh, my goodness.' We got lucky in that one. And hopefully it doesn't happen again." Getzlaf had 31 goals and 87 points in 77 games in 2013-14.

"I just know he's (Getzlaf) getting stitched up right now," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau. "That's the only thing I've heard. I think he's going to be OK." Before getting hurt, Getzlaf scored a goal and an assist to lead Anaheim to a 4-3 victory over Dallas.

Getzlaf, who finished with 87 points in 77 regular season games, continued his great season with two points. There was also bad news for Getzlaf when he took a Tyler Seguin slap shot to the face with 16 seconds left and went to the dressing room. The Ducks and the Stars will play again on Friday night and it is uncertain if Getzlaf can play then. Matt Beleskey also had a strong night with a goal and an assist, while Kyle Palmieri and Mathieu Perreault also scored for the Ducks. Francois Beauchemin added two helpers in the victory.

The two teams were going in different directions lately, with the Ducks losing four in a row until Friday and the Sharks winners of five straight. "We're going to build from the win, for sure," Getzlaf said after contributing two assists. "It's all about building to the playoffs right now."
