Ryan Getzlaf won 15-of-21 faceoffs on Friday.
Unfortunately, that was the only good thing that Getzlaf managed as the Blackhawks shut him and the rest of the top line down in a 3-2 overtime loss. He had a costly penalty late in the third that allowed Chicago to get back in the game. Getzlaf has 15 points in 20 games this season and should be close to a point a game by the time the end of the regular season rolls around. Nov 28 - 4:43 AM

Ryan Getzlaf had an assist in a 4-2 loss to Arizona Wednesday night.

That was Getzlaf's follow up to his five-point night on Tuesday. His recent outburst has helped him make up for lost time as he's now up to 15 points through 19 games.
Nov 26 - 10:22 AM

Ryan Getzlaf picked up five assists in Anaheim's 5-3 win over Calgary on Tuesday.

It was his second career five assist game. He had five helpers back in 2008 against the Red Wings. The Ducks' captain assisted on every goal for the team in this game. Getzlaf has had a slow start to the season by his standards but this explosion should help his owners. He has one goal and 13 assists for 14 points in 18 games now.
Nov 25 - 12:57 AM

Ryan Getzlaf's two assists helped the Ducks topple the Panthers 3-1 on Thursday night.

Getzlaf now has four points in his past three games and nine points in 16 games this season. The Ducks captain had five shots on goal.
Nov 20 - 1:12 AM

The duo of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry are back and playing very well together.

Coach Bruce Boudreau has put Patrick Maroon on the first line with Getzlaf and Perry and they have been involved in four of the last five goals of the Ducks. Getzlaf has assists on all four with Perry striking for a goal and three helpers. Maroon has his first two goals of the season in the last two games as the line has really been clicking. Do not be afraid to use the trio in DFS.
Nov 8 - 5:36 AM

After a successful appendectomy, Ryan Getzlaf picked up a trio of helpers in Friday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets.

Who needs an appendix anyway? The Ducks' captain was flying on all cylinders. He won 56% of his draws, had a hit, a block, a shot, and a power play assist over his 17:36 of work. Getzlaf now has four assists and points on the season.
Nov 7 - 1:08 AM

Ryan Getzlaf (appendectomy) will play against Columbus Friday night.

Getzlaf was absent for four straight games. He doesn't expect to be limited in any way in his first contest back. He has just one assist in eight games this season, but with the Ducks finally showing signs of life, it wouldn't be surprising to see him come up big in his return.
Nov 6 - 2:53 PM

Ryan Getzlaf (appendectomy) skated before practice Wednesday and then joined his teammates for an optional skate.

He will sit out his fourth straight game Wednesday night, but could be on track to return Saturday
Nov 4 - 1:21 PM

Ryan Getzlaf (appendectomy) hopes to be where he wants to be by the end of the week.

Getzlaf has been skating, but not with the team. "I'm going to skate (today) and try to push it even more and go from there," Getzlaf said on Tuesday. "Again, I'm going to tell you the same thing, and it's boring, but it's a matter of how it feels and how it reacts. I could wake up and everything feels worse." He's missed three games so far.
Nov 4 - 8:28 AM

Ryan Getzlaf (appendectomy) was on the ice Sunday.

It remains to be seen if Getzlaf will be up to participating in Tuesday's practice. He should be regarded as day-to-day.
Nov 3 - 8:51 AM

Ryan Getzlaf (appendectomy) did not skate on Saturday.

Getzlaf had his appendix removed on Wednesday and did some light drills on Friday but was unable to go Saturday. The original prognosis was 4-12 days and with Sunday being four days, that return looks to be rather difficult. Consider him day-to-day right now and expect him to return closer to next weekend.
Nov 1 - 5:34 AM

Ryan Getzlaf's appendix has been successfully removed.

The decision was made for Getzlaf to undergo the procedure after he had been experiencing pain for six weeks. He is still expected to be sidelined for four-to-12 days.
Oct 29 - 9:11 AM

Ryan Getzlaf will not be in the lineup Tuesday night due to appendicitis.

He has returned to Orange County to have an appendectomy on Wednesday. Getzlaf has been dealing with the issue for a while and will miss approximately four-to-12 days after the procedure.
Oct 27 - 6:40 PM

Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry were held off the scoresheet in their seventh consecutive game Saturday night, a 3-0 loss to the Wild.

Getzlaf finished with a minus-one rating and four penalty minutes. Thus far, he has 19 shots on goal in seven games, with one measly assist. Perry, who was a minus-two, has an assist and 10 shots on goal this year. Now would be a good time to try to pry them away from anxious owners. While the Ducks have struggled, with only six goals this season, it’s only a matter of time until these guys get going. We know it’s frustrating to own them right now.
Oct 24 - 8:51 PM

Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry were split up again at practice Friday.

The duo were split up at the start of the season as the Ducks management wanted to spread the scoring among their top nine rather than a big first line and a good number two unit. Getzlaf and Perry have played together on the power play and some in five-on-five situations in the last week but that was not the case Friday in practice as Getzlaf was in the middle between Mike Santorelli and Chris Stewart while Perry was on a line with Rickard Rakell and Patrick Maroon. Ryan Kesler, Jakob Silfverberg and Jiri Sekac made up the third line and this should be the lines to start the game on Saturday in Minnesota. The Ducks are struggling and are looking at anything to get them out of it.
