Ducks star Corey Perry had high praise for the Kings after they were trounced 6-2 in Game 7 of their playoff series and were eliminated Friday night.
"We’re close," Perry said. "But close isn’t good enough. We’re trying to write our own memories, but that’s a great team over there. They play a hard-nosed physical game and they forecheck the hell out of you. They’re probably the toughest team to play when they have the lead. And they have a great goaltender (Jonathan Quick). They’re certainly not a 3 seed." Actually, three of the four Stanley Cup semifinalists -- Montreal, Chicago and Los Angeles -- were No. 3 in their divisions. Only the Rangers were second. Anaheim gunner Corey Perry had a chance to keep the Ducks close in Game 7 of their playoff series against the Kings Friday night with a penalty shot in the first period but he squandered the opportunity.

He bore in on Jonathan Quick, held the puck and held it longer, and then watched Los Angeles goalie Jonathan Quick suddenly lunge and poke it away. "That’s my responsibility," Perry said of his penalty shot. "It’s not what I envisioned, but he (Quick) made a poke check on me, caught me off guard. I know what he’s going to do, but I didn’t expect that poke check right away. It could have been 2-1 but it was 3-0 on the next shift. But they came out and got a couple of good chances on the first couple of shifts, and then we had a penalty and they scored on a power play early. That’s what every team wants to do. It builds momentum and confidence."

Corey Perry scored one of two Ducks goals on Friday night during a miserable Game 7 loss against the L.A. Kings.

Perry’s 11th point in 13 games this post-season came during the Ducks 6-2 defeat at the Honda Center. Perry connected early in the third period, but the Ducks were never even close to matching the Kings' intensity in the deciding loss. Bruce Boudreau, Ryan Getzlaf, Teemu Selanne and the mighty Ducks are now eliminated from Stanley Cup contention while the rival Kings trudge forward.
May 17 - 12:08 AM

The early goals Jake Muzzin scored for the Kings against the Ducks on Wednesday were a major setback for Anaheim.

"It's hard to play from behind against (the Kings)," Corey Perry said. "It's why it's important to come out and get that first goal and get the lead and play with the lead. They're a different team when they're behind. We got to come out in Game 7 and really start with that push that we need." The Kings have now faced elimination five times in the 2014 playoffs and have won all of those contests. The Ducks have one last shot to end Los Angeles' streak.
May 15 - 7:43 AM

Corey Perry assisted on both Anaheim goals Saturday.

The two assists bumped Perry to seven and he now has 10 points in 10 playoff games to rank tied for sixth during the post-season. Perry now has points in his last two games after the Kings held him off the scoresheet in the first two games of the series.
May 11 - 10:30 AM

Corey Perry found the back of the net in Anaheim's 3-2 win against Los Angeles in Game 3.

The Kings managed to hold Perry off the scoresheet in the first two games of the second round. He has three goals and five assists in nine playoff contests.
May 9 - 9:51 AM

Although the Anaheim Ducks have been getting plenty of shots on goal in the second round, they haven't been able to create a lot of traffic in front of Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick.

That's one of the reasons Quick has allowed only three goals in two games and the Kings are up 2-0 in their series against Anaheim. "It's the playoffs," Corey Perry said. "You got to battle through that. If you're going to accept that, you're not going to have many chances to score. Yeah, we had a lot of shots. The quality of second opportunities, we didn't have." Perry added that the frustrating part is the Ducks talked about this problem prior to Game 2, but they weren't able to execute.
May 7 - 9:37 AM

The Anaheim Ducks do not want to come back for a Game 7 at home.

They play the Dallas Stars in Game 6 in Texas as they lead three games to two after a 6-2 shellacking of the Stars on Friday in which Corey Perry had a goal and two helpers. The Ducks set a record with four power play goals in the contest. "You don’t want to go back home for a Game 7," Perry said. "You want to finish it here and move on. That’s our mindset and that’s the way we got to approach it."
Apr 27 - 6:32 AM

Corey Perry scored on Friday to break a 10 game goal scoring drought in the playoffs.

It was a long stretch for the winger who potted 43 goals this season as his longest goalless drought this year was only seven games. He went through the entire seven game series against the Red Wings in 2013 with nary a goal as the Ducks dropped the series. "It feels good," Perry said. "Obviously last year didn't go as planned. But if you look at the positives, there were a lot of chances I had. It didn't go in the net. It could have gone either way. If one went in, we might not be talking about this. But my job is to produce. It didn't work last year. Hopefully this year, starting last night, it could be a different story."
Apr 20 - 6:30 AM

Corey Perry had a goal and an assist in Anaheim's 5-2 victory on Wednesday.

Perry has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last seven games. He now has 43 goals and 82 points in 80 games this season, which makes this the second best campaign of his career. He should be able to put up similar numbers in 2014-15.
Apr 10 - 8:43 AM

Star forward Corey Perry produced his 42nd goal of the season in the Anaheim Ducks' 4-2 loss to the Oilers in Edmonton Sunday night.

It was Perry's fifth goal in his past four games. Jakob Silfverberg scored the Ducks' other goal, his ninth of the season.
Apr 6 - 10:54 PM

Corey Perry scored twice and registered an assist in Anaheim's 3-2 win over Edmonton Wednesday night.

Perry has scored in three straight games and he has six points in his last three games. He now has 41 goals and 37 assists with a fantastic plus-33 rating. His rating has never been this good and he is playing again a great season for the Ducks. Defenseman Francois Beauchemin also scored in the victory.
Apr 3 - 2:31 AM

Corey Perry scored with 22.7 seconds left in the third period to tie the game in Anaheim's eventual 5-4 overtime victory over Winnipeg.

Perry's goal was the dramatic payoff of a dramatic comeback for the Anaheim Ducks. Winnipeg had a 4-0 lead late in the second period, but the momentum completely shifted to the Ducks side from there.
Apr 1 - 9:11 AM

Corey Perry picked up two points in the Ducks' 5-1 rout of the Canucks on Saturday night.

Perry notched a goal and added an assist. The power forward has had a sensational year and continues to be one of the most valuable fantasy forwards around. His exceptional all-around numbers include 38 goals, 74 points, a plus-30 rating and 63 penalty minutes. Saku Koivu also scored and assisted. Luca Sbisa, Matt Beleskey and Mathieu Perreault potted the other goals. Daniel Winnik and Andrew Cogliano each chipped in with two assists.

Corey Perry potted his 37th goal of the season on Sunday and added two assists in a 6-2 win over Florida.

Perry now has 72 points in 71 games as he blasted eight shots on goal in the win. Perry is a fantasy stud and could easily be the best all-round fantasy player as he has a plus-29 rating to go with 61 penalty minutes. Needless to say, he is a must-play.
