Kevin Klein continues to be a top-four defenseman with the Rangers.
When Klein was dealt to the Rangers from the Predators last season, it was not seen as a big trade as the Rangers dropped Michael Del Zotto who they were not happy with and received what they thought was a solid defensive rearguard. But Klein has been a scorer as well as a hard nosed defenseman as he has eight goals to lead all Rangers blueliners, as well as eight assists with a plus-15 rating. "Even though Kleiner doesn’t have a letter, I think he’s a big leader on this team," teammate Daniel Girardi said. "He’s very important to our team. He’s a high-energy guy off the ice, always positive. He keeps it light, which is good for the guys. And he does it all: He’s hitting guys, scoring goals, fighting. I played with him before (in 2003-04 for the Guelph Storm in juniors), so I knew already this, but he does everything hard. He never has a night off." Jan 18 - 9:00 AM

Kevin Klein lit the lamp for the Rangers in their 3-2 shootout win over the Hurricanes on Saturday night.

Klein tied the game with 2:23 left in the third. He now has seven goals this season, which is more than he’s had in his last two seasons combined. He’s riding an unsustainable 22.6 percent scoring rate, so potential fantasy owners beware. Still, he has 11 points on the year, so he should be able to set a career-high there. J.T. Miller scored the other goal in the win.

Kevin Klein has scored six of the Rangers nine goals among defensemen but still does not see action on the power play.

Klein has played only 3:34 minutes with the man-advantage this season in 25 games and that ranks seventh on the Rangers defensive corps. Klein has 10 points and is a plus-nine this season. "[He] knows that he can score five more goals five-on-five and I’m still not going to use him on the power play," Alain Vigneault said. All right then.

Kevin Klein picked up two assists on Saturday to give him eight points this season.

Klein has four goals and four assists as he has surprisingly given the Rangers some unexpected scoring this season. He was not expected to do this as his usual fantasy assets have been hits and blocked shots. If you drafted him, you have to be thrilled with his start.

Kevin Klein has already tied his career-high for goals scored in a single season.

Klein found the back of the net in the Rangers' 2-0 victory on Wednesday, giving him four markers in 18 games. He previously reached that mark in 2008-09 and 2011-12, but obviously with most of the season still ahead of him, there's a good chance Klein will set a new personal best.

Kevin Klein (foot) is expected to play on Wednesday.

The Rangers have already taken the step of sending Dylan McIlrath back to the AHL. Klein has two goals and three points in 10 games in 2014-15.

Kevin Klein will miss at least two games with a foot contusion.

Klein suffered the injury 28 seconds into Saturday's game when he blocked a shot. He was on crutches at practice Sunday but how long he will be out will need to wait until the swelling in his foot subsides. The Rangers are reeling with injuries on the blueline so this extra one hurts.

The swelling hasn't gone down in New York Rangers defenseman Kevin Klein's foot, so the team wasn't able to provide an update on his condition.

Klein has been ruled out for at least Monday. Klein, 29, has two goals and three points plus seven PIM and a +2 ratings in 10 games with the Rangers this season.

Kevin Klein (foot) will have an MRI on Sunday.

Klein blocked a shot 28 seconds into Saturday’s game and suffered a foot contusion. He has three points in nine games this season. Most importantly, though, he is one of potentially three regular defensemen (Dan Boyle, Ryan McDonagh) who could be missing from the lineup. Expect more specifics to be released Sunday.

Kevin Klein sustained a foot contusion while blocking a shot Saturday night.

Klein was injured when he blocked Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba’s shot 28 seconds into the game. He’d play another shift, and then left the game for good. New York seems to have dodged a bullet here, especially with Ryan McDonagh out with a separated shoulder. The Rangers have been forced to play with four blueliners. Klein has three points this season.

Kevin Klein (face) was able to play on Tuesday.

Klein's status was in doubt after he was struck in the face by the puck in the final seconds of Sunday's game. He went on to score the overtime winner in the Rangers' 4-3 victory over New Jersey.

Kevin Klein was hit in the face by the puck in the dying seconds of Sunday's game.

Klein needed stitches as a result. Rangers coach Alain Vigneault regards his status as day-to-day.

Kevin Klein had his best game as a Ranger on Friday night.

The blueliner had two assists in 18:03 and he blocked three shots. Klein won't wow you in the offensive department -- he has six points on the season -- but he's a steady, stay-at-home blueliner. There was some thought that he could take a seat for Raphael Diaz, but this game should put that on hold for now.

Defenseman Kevin Klein is likely to be a healthy scratch tonight despite scoring the lone goal for the New York Rangers in a 3-1 loss to Carolina on Tuesday.

It was Klein's first goal as a Ranger. Defenseman Raphael Diaz, acquired by the Rangers on March 5, is likely to make his New York debut in the team's game tonight against the Wild in Minnesota.

It was Klein's first point since the Nashville Predators acquired him on Jan. 22. He has just two goals and four points in 61 games this season.
