Kevin Klein (thumb) was amused by the news he was out indefinitely.
Klein fractured his thumb on Tuesday but plans to return on Saturday. "Then I found out I was out indefinitely and I started laughing and the doc was laughing, too," Klein added. "He said, ‘Well, you could possibly play, it’s just a pain tolerance thing.‘Yeah, so it was a miscommunication." To be clear, it was the Rangers that initially said Klein would be out indefinitely. Date:

Kevin Klein (thumb) should be back on Saturday.

If true, Klein would be playing less than a week after fracturing his thumb. "I’m definitely ready to play, I felt like I could’ve played [Thursday]," said Klein. "But they felt I should have some battle drills to make sure I’m ready." He'll wear a split under his glove, but he doesn't think the injury will impact his game.

To the surprise of his teammates, Kevin Klein (thumb) was on the ice Thursday morning.

Klein fractured his thumb on Tuesday, so to see him already resume skating is encouraging. This doesn't change the fact that he's out indefinitely, but it speaks to his pain tolerance and might lead to him returning earlier than he otherwise would have.

Kevin Klein is out indefinitely with a fractured thumb.

Klein sustained the injury during Tuesday's game. He has three goals and 10 points in 38 contests in 2015-16. During his absence, Dylan McIlrath might start playing regularly.

Kevin Klein left Tuesday's match with New Jersey early with a wrist injury.

After being checked from behind by Reid Boucher by the Rangers bench, Klein immediately threw off his right glove in tremendous pain stopping the play. He went straight to the locker room as well after contributing four hits and two blocks in 18 minutes of play. The Rangers did not have an update after the game, but suffice it to say it didn't look good and he's already lost time due to a wrist injury.
Feb 2 - 9:59 PM

Kevin Klein will return to the Rangers' blue line for Tuesday's match with Vancouver.

Through 33 games this season Klein has posted just nine points with 52 hits and 70 blocks. Not quite the production level expected of him after a brilliant 2014-15.

He missed Sunday's game with a thumb injury, but coach Alain Vigneault likes the defenseman's chances of playing against Vancouver. Klein practiced alongside Ryan McDonagh in the morning.

Kevin Klein took the ice during warm-ups on Sunday, but ultimately won't play due to his right thumb injury.

Thumbs, the most important finger to a human. Especially on your bottom hand when holding a hockey stick. Klein's injury isn't considered serious, and he'll have an opportunity to play Tuesday and Friday this week. Dylan McIlrath will take his place.

Kevin Klein will return to the Rangers' blue line on Monday against Nashville.

Klein has yet to play this month due to an oblique injury. Through 25 games he has six points, 40 hits, and 52 blocks, which isn't great but gives reason to believe he'd be a serviceable plug on occasion.

Both Kevin Klein (oblique) and Dan Girardi are expected to be back at practice Sunday.

The Rangers were given Saturday off as well as they do not play until Monday so it was a nice long break for the team. Both Klein and Girardi are hopeful of returning for Monday's game and it will provide the blueline with veteran leadership once again. Klein has missed 11 games while Girardi has been out for five.

The NY Rangers placed Kevin Klein on IR on Friday, but he may return to them by Tuesday against Anaheim.

Which means Klein will at least miss Sunday's game with Washington. He hasn't played in the month of December due to an oblique injury. Through 26 games he has three goals, six points, 13 PIMs, 40 hits, and 52 blocks. Not too shabby for the 31-year-old veteran. It's expected that Chris Summers will be sent down when Klein returns.
