Liles was injured in last Sunday's game and he hasn't played since. He's out indefinitely for now and there's no time frame for his return. Boston is also without Zdeno Chara.

Liles was hurt early on in Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bruins have also announced that he'll be out indefinitely. The veteran had five assists in 22 games before being injured.

John-Michael Liles is thrilled that he'll be back in Boston next season.

Liles re-signed with the Bruins after the start of free agency and admitted he wanted to return all along. "I’m not going to tell you it was a really long list of teams, but there were some other teams and some comparable offers," said Liles. "I just really enjoyed playing here for those 17 games and just really enjoyed playing in this city. I thought the fans were fantastic, I thought the group in the room was great. . . . My family absolutely loved being here in the city, so that was a big part of it." The Bruins acquired Liles from Carolina and he proved to be a decent fit on their blue line at the end of last season. He'll likely put up close to 20 points in 2016-17.

John-Michael Liles' one-year contract with the Boston Bruins is worth up to $2,250,000.

Liles will receive $2 million in a base salary and he could earn an additional $250,000 in playoff bonuses. He had six goals and 21 points in 81 games last season.

The Boston Bruins have re-signed John-Michael Liles.

Liles played 17 games for Boston after being acquired at the deadline from Carolina. He is now a five-six defenseman at best for the Bruins but he can still score and could hit the 30 point mark if he plays regularly.
