Through the first dozen games of his career with Boston, Liles has posted two helpers with 12 hits and 24 blocks. Not bad if your league rewards it. He's expected to skate with Zdeno Chara on the team's top unit.

John-Michael Liles might hear from the league after he delivered a forearm to the head of Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov on Tuesday night.

He was not penalized on the play, but the Department of Player Safety could still take a look at it. "I was trying to step into him as he went by me. I didn't think I came up high with it," Liles said. "I thought I was just trying to step into him. I don't know if he was falling or if he ducked. Obviously, he was down for a while. I didn't see a replay, so I'm not really sure."
