Paul Bissonnette has agreed to terms with the AHL Portland Pirates.

The Pirates are affiliated with the Arizona Coyotes. Bissonnette became an unrestricted free agent this summer after Arizona passed on re-signing him, but he wasn't able to secure a contract with a different NHL club. "He's a good man," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "It's just the way the league's going right now. But I love his enthusiasm. He's jumping in. He wants to work his way back in. I had the chance to talk to him the other night, and he's enthused. The other thing (that) was good to see (was) his teammates here were really happy for him, so we'll see where it goes."

Paul Bisonnette is on the verge of signing with an American Hockey League team.

According to the Arizona Republic, Bissonnette will join Arizona’s affiliate, the Portland Pirates. It will be tough for Biznasty to get another NHL opportunity soon.

Paul Bissonnette has an out-clause with the Cardiff Devils.

That means that Bissonnette might still end up playing with a different team in 2014-15. There was reportedly some interest in him from NHL teams over the summer and he attended the St. Louis Blues' training camp, but he obviously never ended up coming to terms with an NHL club.
Oct 24 - 4:50 PM

Paul Bissonnette has signed with the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League.

In case you're not familiar with the location of Cardiff, it's worth clarifying that the EIHL operates in the United Kingdom. This isn't Bissonnette's first stint with Cardiff as he previously scored six goals and 19 points in 10 games with them during the lockout. Bissonnette has 22 points and 340 penalty minutes in 202 career NHL games.
Oct 24 - 4:28 PM

The St. Louis Blues released Paul Bissonnette from his professional tryout on Saturday.

The 29-year-old generates nice but not otherworldly PIM (340 in 202 career NHL games) and doesn't do enough of anything else to be worthy of your fantasy attention, even if he can make an NHL squad.
Oct 4 - 3:43 PM

The St. Louis Blues have extended a training camp tryout offer to Paul Bissonnette.

Bissonnette is a physical depth forward that, to be honest, might be better known for as a Twitter personality than a hockey player. That's not to suggest that Bissonnette has no value on the ice though. He's a physical forward that can fit in on the fourth line and if he gets into a situation where he's playing regularly, then he'd be a decent source of penalty minutes in fantasy leagues.
Sep 16 - 10:53 AM

Washington, Minnesota and Pittsburgh are reportedly in the running to sign tough guy Paul Bissonnette, according to an NHL source.

The Capitals are believed to be the favorite to sign him. Bissonnette appeared in 39 games with the Coyotes last season, where he picked up eight points and 53 penalty minutes.
Aug 11 - 11:49 AM

According to his agent, the Washington Capitals are among a handful of teams potentially interested in acquiring the services of Paul Bissonnette.

Mark Guy, Bissonnette's representative, confirms his client is seeking a larger role than the one he has traditionally owned in the NHL, saying "Right now he's just looking for a good organization where he can contribute more than he's been able to, to date, in the last couple years in Phoenix. He wants to be in a position where he can compete for a solid fourth-line position and be a great team guy." It may be a surprise to hear that the enforcer is actually a highly-rated contributor by proponents of advanced stats and would likely serve as a useful player if assigned a regular shift. For those in leagues that reward penalty minutes, consistent ice time could make Bissonnette roster-worthy.
Aug 3 - 9:49 AM

Phoenix forward Paul Bissonnette scored only his second goal of the season in the Coyotes' 4-2 loss to the visiting St. Louis Blues Sunday night.

Jeff Halpern, Bissonnette's linemate on the Coyotes' fourth line, also scored -- only his third of the season. Halpern's goal gave Phoenix a 2-0 lead but the Blues rallied back with four goals in the third period for the victory.
Mar 2 - 10:44 PM

Phoenix Coyotes coach Dave Tippett has been very happy with the team's fourth line of Jeff Halpern, Kyle Chipchura, and Paul Bissonnette.

"You know what, it's been very strong and it's been for about the last six, seven games," Tippett said, referring to the fourth line. "We've rotated a guy in and out and Bissonnette, he's been in and out a little, but the two constants have been Halpern and Chipchura. They've really got a good chemistry going together." Tippett added that Bissonnette had a particularly good game on Tuesday. Bissonnette still ended up last on the team with just 7:57 minutes of ice time, but that's partially because he got a minor and misconduct penalty early in the third period.

Paul Bissonnette got into only his second fight of the season on Saturday.

BizNasty as he is known on twitter has fought only against the Flyers this season as his other battle was against Zac Rinaldo. He fought Jay Rosehill last night. He has a goal and six points with 16 penalty minutes in 24 games this season giving him little, if any, fantasy value.
Jan 5 - 9:40 AM

Paul Bissonnette scored for the Coyotes in their 3-1 loss to the Hurricanes on Saturday night.

It would normally be a good sign for Phoenix that Bissonnette scored, but it's not one when he's the only goal scorer. This was the tough guy's first goal since Nov. 19, 2011, according to Arizona Central's Sarah McLellan. He now has a goal, six points and 11 penalty minutes in 20 games, while averaging less than five minutes of ice time per night. Jeff Halpern and Connor Murphy notched the assists.

Last season, it took wing Paul Bissonnette 10 games before he registered a point but this season, he had an assist in only his second game and added another helper the next game to already eclipse his point total in two of the past three seasons.

"It’s a big year for me," Bissonnette said. "I want to stay here. I want to play here for a long time. Now I’ve got to show I’m capable of being an everyday guy." Bissonnette is in the final year of his contract, but he’s been a regular ever since he was eligible to return from suspension Oct. 10. Extra skating, especially with development coach Dave King, during his three-game suspension, helped his transition back into the lineup.

Paul Bissonnette has completed his three-game suspension.

Bissonnette was being punished for coming off the bench to participate in an altercation during a preseason contest. That comes with an automatic 10-game suspension, but he decided to appeal the ruling and succeeded in reducing his punishment.
