Colorado assigned forward Greg Mauldin to Lake Erie of the AHL.

Not a shocker considering Mauldin was waived a few times. He obviously has no fantasy value.

The Colorado Avalanche have placed center Greg Mauldin on waivers.

Mauldin had five goals and 10 points in 29 games with the Avs this season, scoring his first NHL goal in the process. The 28-year-old will likely pass through waivers and be sent down to the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. He could be recalled if there are a slew of injuries in Colorado.

Greg Mauldin is projected to play on Monday despite going headfirst into the boards during Thursday's game.

Mauldin briefly lost consciousness after crashing into the boards and he was bleeding when he left the ice. However, he was able to participate in Sunday's practice. "I hate being that guy, down on the ice. But when you're not awake, I guess there's nothing you can do," Mauldin said. "But soon after, I knew I'd be OK."

There is still some slight concern over Greg Mauldin’s injury (head).

Mauldin went headfirst into the boards on Thursday. He was immobile for a minute or so and left the ice bloody. The Avs say there will be no update until after Sunday’s practice.

Greg Mauldin had a huge game for the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night.

Mauldin potted a huge short-handed goal midway through the second period. The goal gave the Avs a lead they held onto in their 4-2 win over Atlanta. It was a mini-slump for Mauldin who went the last four games without a point. "It was a must win," Mauldin said. "We stayed with it. Because, when you pepper a goalie like we did and he stays hot, you can really think, 'Here we go again.' We got away from our game plan a little bit at times, but for the most part we stuck with it."

Greg Mauldin scored two goals and added two assists in Colorado’s 7-4 win Saturday night.

The 28-year old led the Avalanche’s seven-goal outburst, finishing with four points, three more than he had recorded in eight previous starts this season. While he likely will not be able to duplicate the totals he put up in the win, Mauldin could become another key contributor on a deep Avalanche team if he can continue to get more playing time. 21-year old Kevin Shattenkirk registered a goal and two assists in the victory, extending his point streak to six games, while Milan Hejduk extended his point streak to four games with a goal and an assist.

Greg Mauldin scored his first career NHL goal in Colorado’s 5-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.

The case of Mauldin is a strange one. He had been recalled from Lake Erie of the AHL the day before. Mauldin had played in just eight career NHL games despite it being his eighth season in professional hockey. "I have to take Jonesie out for a dinner or something to thank him," said Mauldin after winger David Jones set him up shorthanded.

Mauldin has five goals and 12 points in 14 games this season at the AHL level.

The play of Greg Mauldin has impressed Colorado coach Joe Sacco at training camp.

"He's a good skater. He's created a lot of havoc in the offensive zone. I don't know much about him, but, from what I've seen so far, what really stands out is his skating," said Sacco. Mauldin is expected to suit up in Tuesday's preseason opener versus St. Louis. He skated in one game with the New York Islanders last season, but spent the majority of the year in the minors with Bridgeport.
