Jack Johnson confirmed that he requested a trade.
"It's never good to let things fester, hold everything in," Johnson said. "I've been holding a lot of things in for many years here. Yeah, it's out. I own it, and I have nothing to hide. That's the situation. Like I said before, you're just trying to do what's best for your family … I think any husband or father can relate to that." Johnson is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and he's looking to sign what could be his last big contract. Meanwhile, his role with the Blue Jackets has declined this season, in part due to his inconsistent play, so he feel that an opportunity elsewhere might be best for him. As far as Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella is concerned, he trusts Johnson and understands where the blueliner is coming from. It doesn't seem like Johnson's trade request will make things awkward and as long as he's with the Blue Jackets, he should continue to do his best. Jan 18 - 3:10 PM

Jack Johnson requested a trade weeks ago because he needs one more big contract.

Johnson feels that the Blue Jackets have a strong blueline and he is not getting the ice time needed for another big contract. He turned 31 on Saturday and wants the big deal to take care of his family as he had to declare bankruptcy four years ago. "It has been an inconsistent year for Jack," coach John Tortorella said. "If we’re going to have any sniff at all to play extra games after regular-season hockey, he has to be a part of it. We know that. He has to be a part of it. I believe he can be. I have so much respect for him because I know he’s such a great competitor. I think he’ll find his way. I thought he took a step in the right direction [Friday]. We tried to give him more ice. It’s easy to complain and be mad and show him video, but you have to give him an opportunity to answer, too. So we’re going to give Jack an opportunity here because he’s that important to us the second half of the season." Johnson has two goals and seven points in 45 games this year.

Jack Johnson has allegedly asked the Blue Jackets to trade him.

Johnson, who has seen his role on the Blue Jackets blueline diminish with the emergence of both Zach Werenski and Seth Jones, wants a more primary role heading into an offseason in which he will be a free agent. He is currently fourth in playing time amongst Jackets' rearguards and is toiling on the third pairing alongside Scott Harrington. The trade request was allegedly made a week ago. Stay tuned for further developments.

Jack Johnson is eager to get going this year after Columbus had a short playoff appearance on the heels of a superb regular season.

"I want to win. I just finished my 10th year, and my 11th year I want to win," said Johnson. "I hope every guy is taking the summer seriously, training and getting ready because whether you finished first in the regular season or snuck into the playoffs, if you lose in game five of the first round that's just not enough. So I'm definitely chomping at the bit, excited for next season because I'm excited every year." The Blue Jackets defender also stated that the Brandon Saad trade was tough for him because they were close friends, but he is looking forward to having Artemi Panarin as a teammate. Additionally, Johnson liked the stability of having one partner on the back end, David Savard, for the entire campaign.

Jack Johnson was left exposed for the expansion draft by Columbus on Sunday.

Though some insiders believe the Jackets have a deal in place with the Golden Knights, the 30-year-old could find himself on the move with his $4.4 million cap hit. Columbus' defense core hit their stride this season and were a team strength; losing Johnson would certainly sting.

Jack Johnson scored the only goal for the Blue Jackets in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Johnson let a perfect wrister go from the top of the circle and beat Cam Ward for his 4th goal of the year. Johnson is now up to 21 points in 76 games with a plus-20 rating. With the season winding down, he appears to have clinched his first career season with a positive rating in the plus- category. He's only worth owning in deeper fantasy leagues.

Jack Johnson has reached the 20-point mark for the sixth time in his career, thanks to the assist he picked up in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Devils.

Johnson has just three goals this season, which is the fewest since his rookie season in 2007-08 with Los Angeles. He has 61 goals and 264 points in 700 career NHL games now.

Jack Johnson was a plus-five on Saturday.

He combined beautifully with defense partner David Savard and also potted his third goal of the season. He has three goals and 17 points with a plus-14 rating. Johnson hit the 40 point mark in 2014-15 but with Zach Werenski and Seth Jones ahead of him offensively, it is unlikely he shall do so again in Columbus.

Jack Johnson has four assists in his last four games.

That's quite the change of pace for Johnson, who had 12 points in 48 contests prior to his current hot streak. He did enjoy a 40-point campaign in 2014-15, but we wouldn't count of Johnson doing a lot offensively for the remainder of the season.

Jack Johnson earned a pair of assists in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to Pittsburgh.

He has collected three helpers in the last two games for Columbus. This was just the second time this season that Johnson has recorded a multi-point performance. He has two goals and 15 points in 50 matches.

Jack Johnson scored for only the second time this season Saturday.

Johnson, who had 40 points in 2014-15, has only ten points this season as he has lost a lot of playing time on the power play to Zach Werenski and Seth Jones. But he has become a complete player and is an amazing plus-21 this season, giving him plenty of fantasy value. If you need plus/minus and he is available, grab him immediately.

Jack Johnson is a plus-nine this season.

This is the first time in his career that Johnson is a plus-player but it is coming at a cost as he is not seeing any power play time as coach John Tortorella is using Zach Werenski and Seth Jones on the point, relegating Johnson and Ryan Murray to the bench with the man=advantage. "They’re not happy about it," Tortorella said. "Trust me, they’re not happy. But I think it’s a great lesson for our young players to look at them and how they’re handling it. "We split up for the (power play) meeting and there’s Jack and Murr, still in the dressing room. That’s hard, because I know they want to be a part of it. But it doesn’t affect how they come to work each day, and that’s a big for us." Johnson has five assists this season and has still been a force on the blueline.

Jack Johnson has reached a settlement in bankruptcy court with six of his eight creditors.

Johnson is expected to give most of his $5 million salary from the Blue Jackets this season and next year. He will be able to keep only a negotiated sum for "living expenses" of $246K. Johnson also had to liquidate two homes and a Ferrari valued at $125,000. On the ice, he has two assists in 12 games this campaign.
Sat, Nov 12, 2016 10:01:00 AM

Jack Johnson has an assist in 10 games this season.

Johnson reached the 40-point mark in 2014-15, but he dropped to 14 points last season and so far it doesn't look like he'll regain his scoring touch in 2016-17. He remains a big part of the Blue Jackets as he's averaging 21:48 minutes per game, but his value to standard league fantasy owners might not be there anymore. That being said, it is still early in the campaign, so there's still a chance he'll bounce back.

Jack Johnson said his surgically-repaired shoulder feels 100 percent.

He sat out the last 20 games of the regular season due to the injury. Johnson is preparing to compete in the World Cup of Hockey with Team USA in September now that his rehab is out of the way.
