Jack Skille was the last player off the ice following Monday's practice as he has his sights sets on making the Canucks off of a PTO.
"I’m willing to chew through rope to be here," said Skille. "If I prove I’m on a mission and ready to go, I think I should turn some heads. When you look back as a young guy, you always have time and if you don’t make the playoffs, there’s always next year. That’s not the case. I’ve seen how hard it is. I want to win. It’s getting late in my career and I want to ride this bus as long as possible." The 29-year-old is a veteran of 313 NHL games and if he makes the team, it will be as a third or fourth liner. He'll face stiff competition though, including from fellow PTO invites James Sheppard and Tuomo Ruutu. Sep 20 - 8:50 AM

Jack Skille, Chris Bigras, and Andrew Bodnarchuk will each be scratched against the Ducks on Saturday.

Unfortunately there isn't a lick of fantasy value between them, but Skille still put up a nice season. The veteran depth winger had his best season since 2010-11, posting 14 points and 97 hits through 74 games.

Jack Skille, Andrew Bodnarchuk, and Zach Redmond will each be scratched Friday night against Washington.

Through 71 games this season Skille has posted 14 points with 94 hits. Pretty great considering how his career has gone, but not enough to be added on to your squad with.

Jack Skille picked up his eighth point and four goal in Saturday's 5-1 win over Edmonton.

Jack Skille still isn't taking anything for granted.

"Nothing's guaranteed and I'm not expecting it to be guaranteed and I'm not looking for someone to give me a pat on the back and say, 'You're good, you're safe,' because I know I'm not safe," he said. "I'm never going to be safe. And I'm going to keep playing that way." Skille earned a two-way contract with the Avalanche after attending camp on a professional tryout. He skated alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog earlier this week and he was playing with Matt Duchene and Landeskog during Thursday's win over Tampa Bay. Skille has played up and down the lineup and he has three points in nine games, so he's right to play every game like it could be his last.
