Jack Skille still isn't taking anything for granted.
"Nothing's guaranteed and I'm not expecting it to be guaranteed and I'm not looking for someone to give me a pat on the back and say, 'You're good, you're safe,' because I know I'm not safe," he said. "I'm never going to be safe. And I'm going to keep playing that way." Skille earned a two-way contract with the Avalanche after attending camp on a professional tryout. He skated alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog earlier this week and he was playing with Matt Duchene and Landeskog during Thursday's win over Tampa Bay. Skille has played up and down the lineup and he has three points in nine games, so he's right to play every game like it could be his last. Oct 30 - 9:44 AM

Jack Skille is slated to start Tuesday's game versus Florida alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog.

"In these opportunities it's easy to think that you've got to change and kind of go up to their skill level, but I'm just going to do what got me there and what got me this opportunity and not change anything," Skille said. He has posted two goals and one helper in seven contests this year.

Jack Skille scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Columbus.

Skille opened the scoring in the game, but it wasn't enough to earn his team the win. The 28-year-old has two goals and three points in seven games this season. He sees most of his ice time on the fourth line and won't be a viable fantasy option going forward.

Jack Skille scored his first goal as an Avalanche in Friday's 3-0 win over the Ducks.

The 28-year-old forward doesn't have much offensive upside or fantasy flare at this point, but it's always important for teams to receive production from their bottom-six as well. Perhaps now he can move out of his hotel.
Oct 17 - 1:34 AM

Jack Skille is still living in a hotel, while he tries to cement his role on the Colorado Avalanche.

"Nothing is guaranteed," said Skille, who received a two-way contract with the Avs after attending camp on a PTO. "Until I play well enough to stay and earn my keep — earn that right to get my own place — I can't be happy with what I've done so far." He has played well on Colorado's fourth line with John Mitchell and Cody McLeod early into the 2015-16 season. The trio has been given a shutdown role by coach Patrick Roy and they have chipped in offensively as well. Skille has one assist and four shots in two games.

Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy said that Jack Skille is on a mission to make the Colorado Avalanche.

Skille was invited to camp on a professional tryout, so his spot on the roster is far from secured. The 28-year-old has bounced around the NHL but he could find a home in Colorado this season if he continues to impress in camp. Skille had six goals and eight points in 45 games with Florida last season. He has good size and speed and he could be a fit on Colorado's third or fourth line.

Skille is likely to return as Josh Anderson was sent to the minors but the Blue Jackets could go with seven defensemen as well. Skille has been a healthy scratch in his last two games. He has five goals and seven points with a minus-14 rating in 37 games so he is best left off your fantasy roster.
