Date:

Devin Setoguchi and Tom Gilbert will be scratched from Sunday's match with Montreal.

The 29-year-old winger has just three goals and seven points across 23 games this season, which unfortunately falls well short of the depth support hoped from him this season. Gilbert meanwhile has played just once since mid-November.

Devin Setoguchi scored a goal in Los Angeles' 4-2 win over Edmonton Thursday night.

Setoguchi has three goals and six points in 18 games this season. He's not likely to pick up the pace too much, in part because he's averaging a modest 13:33 minutes per game.
Nov 18 - 10:42 AM

For the first time since 2014, and after a serious battle with addiction, Devin Setoguchi put an exclamation point on an inspiring story by scoring two goals.

Setoguchi's two goals helped the Los Angeles Kings beat the Calgary Flames 5-0 on Saturday. He had two assists previously this season but went seven games without generating a point before this memorable night. Dustin Brown enjoyed something of a throwback night with two assists of his own.
Nov 6 - 1:01 AM

Devin Setoguchi registered an assist in the Kings' 6-3 loss to Minnesota on Tuesday.

It was Setoguchi's first point in the NHL since March 19, 2014. He's come back to the NHL after rehabbing from a drinking problem and spending a season in the Swiss league.
Oct 19 - 8:42 AM

Devin Setoguchi was able to make his Kings debut against the team that drafted him, the San Jose Sharks.

Setoguchi earned a contract with Los Angeles after attending its training camp on a tryout basis. "It means a lot. … It’s a big place," Setoguchi said of playing against San Jose. "It’s a place where I started my career. It was an organization that took me in. It means a lot. On the other side of things, this game here with this club here means more. It’s a big game for us to start the season." Setoguchi had two shots on goal in 15:20 minutes of ice time.

Oct 11 - 5:02 PM

There's a good chance that Devin Setoguchi will end up signing with the Los Angeles Kings.

Setoguchi attended the Kings' training camp on a tryout basis and he seems to have impressed them. "I thought I gave myself a chance. By no means is it over. It’s an everyday thing for me," Setoguchi said. "I’ve got to make sure that I keep improving and getting better and trying to prove my worth here in L.A." He's attempting to make an NHL comeback at the age of 29. He had 11 goals and 24 points in 30 Swiss league games last season.
Oct 11 - 8:45 AM

Devin Setoguchi has been good so far in the Kings' training camp.

Setoguchi is with Los Angeles on a tryout basis as he tries to get back into the NHL following his time in rehab due to a drinking problem and his 2015-16 efforts in the Swiss league. Setoguchi got into Wednesday's preseason game on a line with Dustin Brown and prospect Adrian Kempe and recorded a goal and an assist in the Kings' 6-1 victory over Anaheim. "You have to give him a lot of credit," Kings assistant coach John Stevens said. "He was out of the league for a little bit and I didn’t know what to expect, but to his credit he came here in a very good condition and was ready to go and wanted to put his best foot forward to win a position on the squad. I think for me it’s exciting to see that, just coming in here prepared. He’s going to give himself a good chance to perform well, so it’s good to see."
Sep 30 - 10:52 AM

Devin Setoguchi said he's gone 19 months without having a drink.

That dates back to when he entered a rehab center. Now he's looking to restart his NHL career and has been given a PTO with Los Angeles to help him do that. "I’ve been out of the league for a year. It’s not like I can go two years out of the league and have a chance to make it next year," he said. "So yeah, this is a chance. Is it my last chance? Probably." While Setoguchi didn't play in the NHL last season, he did play hockey in Switzerland where he scored 11 goals and 24 points in 30 games.
Sep 24 - 6:17 AM

Devin Setoguchi will attend training camp with the Los Angeles Kings on a professional tryout, according to two sources.

He wasn't able to earn a contract with Toronto out of camp last year and ended up playing for HC Davos of the Swiss National League A. He posted 11 goals and 24 points in 30 matches.
Sep 6 - 7:01 PM

The Toronto Maple Leafs have released Devin Setoguchi from his professional tryout.

Setoguchi was a great story as he was making his way back to the NHL after going through alcohool rehab. The forward may be forced to accept a stint in the AHL or he may have to wind up signing in Europe if we wants to continue his playing career.

Devin Setoguchi says he's feeling great after a rough year.

Setoguchi went to rehab for his drinking problem and has now been sober for five months. "It’s been a real long road, but I’m feeling great, the best I’ve felt in a long time," said Setoguchi. "I’ve got a lot of clarity of eye-opening stuff that happened. Just getting married and having the best day of my life in a while ... it feels good and I’m going into camp with a clear head. I’m feeling really special." Setoguchi will attend Toronto's training camp on a pro tryout, but he is far from guaranteed a spot on the roster. It would be a nice story if he was able to stick in the NHL in 2015-16.

He appeared in 12 games with the Calgary Flames last season and he didn't record a point. Setoguchi also dressed in 19 AHL outings with Adirondack, where he had 10 points.
